  1. Just found one----"CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES---FASCINATION WEEKLY DIARY, No. 9

                                                                  07/22/95 -- 07/29/95"

I'll try to hook up my old VCR and watch it later!

  2. Zozza, as Cole mentioned, the other forum would have more info. As to the cost, it would be the full amount a third person in the room would pay, slightly lower than the first two but still a lot for a one year old.

I think your two for 2021 out of Baltimore are toast, but why are you so pessimistic about your three in 2022 only being at 55%?

One is a 10 day Alaska cruise in May------Canada extended its no cruise ships allowed to dock into early 22 already.

The other 2 are B2B 14 days in Feb./Mar and the CDC is iffy to change their 7 day regulation with European cruses having problems.

I thought that a better than 1 in 2 chance was being fairly optimistic 😉

  4. Can't understand that----we've had many nice days in CT, most of them below freezing and snowy but I guess it depends on your point of view!

After 6 cancelled cruises we're still hoping for our August out of Baltimore 2021 (33% chance)

and our October 31 (14 day) from Baltimore (15% chance).

    We're giving our 3 in 2022 a 55% chance.

We've had our deposits, payments and OBCs transferred so many times I feel the FBI may check us out for money laundering!

I wish they would make a new "Cruise for St. Jude" shirt. We give every cruise but I just say thanks but no thanks to the shirts.

Just an idea for next time. We took one shirt each and "iron on" a patch for each cruise. It's really easy, just get iron on paper (get the one for dark colors--it'll cover and last longer) at Staples, Ebay, etc. Make a design with the ships' pictures and dates, then print it on your home jet ink printer -- no laser as the plastic might melt inside! Peel it off like a decal, cover it with the acetate sheet that comes in the package and iron it on. A real conversation starter at the past cruiser party. Each sheet cost about $1.

We are on the fence here.  We have a 14 day booked for Oct 31,2021.  We've paid for almost all of it using funds from previous canceled cruises.  I would probably just ride it out, but the uncertainty is not fun.  Do we book flights, hotels, etc & then have it canceled last minute?  My question is:  how far ahead of the cruise would we know if it is/isn't going to sail.

We're on that cruise also in a similar situation (our room is fully paid due to other cancelled cruises). We're driving in the night before and only need the flight from Tampa back to Baltimore. We are choosing hotels with free cancellation policies. We've written to Carnival and John Heald requesting that passengers board on Oct. 31, have a swinging Halloween party after dinner (as they normally do) but don't leave the dock until after midnight. At this point that would satisfy the CDC ruling of no cruises longer than 7 days until after Nov. 1! In any case, we'll wait and see about the cruise (I give it a 33% chance of sailing)-----if it does go we'll all receive a $100 OBC per cabin for sticking it out!

On the serious note, how are you guys handling the stoppage? For me I refuse to get discouraged and will remain a Carnival Fan until the end. How are you remaining sane?

First of all, your statement makes an assumption that I WAS sane before this nonsense!😀 As a lifelong Giants fan I've never been accused of sanity.

However, we've had five cruises cancelled so far but have five booked in 2021 and 2022. Hoping that our Oct.31 fourteen day cruise gets to go even though the CDC has stated no cruise longer than seven days can sail until Nov.1. We wrote to Carnival and asked if passengers could board the Pride Oct. 31, have a swinging Halloween party-----but don't allow the ship to sail till after midnight, making it Nov.1 and satisfying the CDC "edict"!

  8. When we started you could only FAX-----they insisted on this for many years. I agree with the others, too personal to give to others. Make sure to blacken out your account number when you do submit it. If you're unsure of the procedure, here are Carnival's instructions.

We can now accept shareholder proof via email at shareholders@carnival.com for those with over 100 shares looking for their extra onboard credits.

After the reservation has been made, the shareholder must provide their legal name, reservation number, ship and sailing date, along with proof of ownership of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc shares (for example: photocopy of shareholder proxy card, a dividend tax voucher or a current brokerage or nominee statement with the brokerage account number blacked out) at the time of deposit.

Again, please remember to omit/cross out your account # prior to emailing their proof.

•$50 on board credit per stateroom on any cruise of 6 days or less

•$100 on board credit per stateroom on any cruise of 7 to 13 days

•$250 on board credit per stateroom on any cruise of 14 days or longer

  9. You should be on the second of these cruises the Pride will go on. We are SUPPOSED to be on the cruise from Baltimore (her current home port) to Tampa arriving Nov. 14. Hope we'll bring her to you-but don't know at this point. We're scheduled to depart Baltimore October 31--Halloween--and then sail on a 14 day cruise to Tampa. The CDC rules currently allow only 7 day cruises till Nov.1! I emailed Carnival and John Heald asking them to have us arrive, have a huge Halloween party and then set out on a cruise after midnight-----technically following the CDC guidelines.

  10. We've been on several European cruises and have been on both port and starboard sides. There has been no difference, when the ship docks you never know which side will be facing land-that is decided by its port authority.

An (untrue) legend of the derivation of the word POSH (luxurious, expensive) is that early ships stayed close to shore in case of trouble----therefore to see the sights the richer passengers booked Port Out Starboard Home!

Don't know if this map is what you're looking for-

  11. To get around the Jones Act which stefndoug referred to, Carnival might dock in Vancouver or Victoria but not allow anyone to leave the ship. I know it sounds farfetched-----but here is a schedule (only available to TAs) for 2022 Miracle Alaskan cruises on page 3. It shows the Miracle going to Canada but if you check out the bottom of the page in red it shows "violation of the Jones act" and then "guests can not depart the ship in Canada". Again, it's for 2022. Just click this link.

  12. Technically--no. However when we took our grandchildren we had our son and DIL sign and notarize a paper. This proved their having allowed us to take the kids on the cruise and most importantly gave us the right to seek medical attention for them if needed. Thank goodness we didn't need it---but if an overly protective agent in Mexico (or anywhere else) questioned our right to travel with them we had the proof. There are many examples on line---but here is what we used.

  13. Many years ago, when ships stayed close to the mainland just in case, there was a rule for traveling from Europe to the East. If you could afford to, you would book port cabins traveling outbound and starboard when traveling back home--thereby securing great views of the land, cities, etc at all times. Some people believe that this was the origin of the the word POSH-----Port Out, Starboard Home.

  14. Carnival often doesn't let you know they gave you the credit. To check----sign in, go to your cruise in your cruise manager, look down on the left side and click on PRINT DOCUMENTS, unclick PRINT LUGGAGE TAGS then click on PRINT GENERAL INFORMATION, click on the the red boX PRINT (don't worry you won't really print it), scroll down to page two----one of the boxes tells you how much onboard credit you now have! Good luck!

  15. I thought that I had. How soon can I submit my proof?  Is there a fax number or email address?  Princess has both.

    Thanks!

    Tom😀

The last couple of cruises, I found it easier to email the info

  16. In 2009 we were on the Fantasy - out of New Orleans supposed to head to Mexico. Because of a Swine Flu "outbreak in Mexico" the government advised no travel to Mexico. We were diverted to Key West instead. I only heard one complaint on the ship, a passenger who lived in Key West had driven to New Orleans for a Mexican cruise----instead the ship docked 2 miles from his house!
