  1. Yes, it will update closer to departure. On a 7 day cruise there are usually 2 'Dressy Nights', a bit of glam and glitter but nothing excessive these days. Collared shirt for men.
  2. Try this...old but maybe still good, https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k8497833-How_do_I_call_this_phone_number_from_the_US-London_England.html 0333 003 8101 For new bookings, the simplest, speediest way to book with us is online. 3. Did you volunteer the corkage fee or did the 'search team' request it? Seems that there is no pattern recently.
  4. 10 day pre pay: 1 device $167.99 4 devices $247.99
  5. Where and how are you purchasing a cruise, or are you just having a whinge? In UK and EU there are no extra taxes, only additional fees are for gratuities. It depends on the cruise line as to whether they are mandatory, optional or adjustable. What price is your cruise? How much would it be it they "just pay the staff well"? If you have pre paid tips, then no one should expect further tips. They will accept them and even some will hope for them, but once you have pre paid, then anything else is optional. In many cases if you "just pay the staff you are in contact with", then they will need to put that money into the tip pool. What about the important people that you are not in contact with? Treat it as a cost of cruising and if you don't like it then holiday somewhere else, don't stiff the staff who have no other options.
  6. Thanks for posting that information. I don't do 'Tickety Gram Book' so never see posts like those.
  7. Thanks! Interesting that it is promoted by a PCC with a 'at hollandamerica' email address. I misread it to say 'Drink our way across the Caribbean', but it does say 'Dink'. Double Income No Kids?? or what?
  8. I am very late here today, as I am still trying to warm up. It was minus 2°C/28°F this morning at breakfast time and just barely climbed into positive figure during the day. I took DW to mass this morning and collected her monthly prescription from the pharmacist. Later we had roast stuffed pork steak wth roast potatoes, roasted root veg etc for our Sunday meal. We are trying to sate u our youngest DS's appetite for the food he enjoyed when he lived at home with us and we were at least 10 years younger 🤔. Still, he has only 5 days left before he flies back to Vancouver. And just as I thought I was thawing out and feeling a little warm, all you guys post pictures of snow! Almost too much for me. Nearly as bad as you all posting the results of the football games ......I am still watching the early December games on the PVR. Have a great day everyone!
  9. Our Nieuw Statendam cruise at end of April and like Rotterdam sailing in Europe, has been available for over a month now. Have you checked your booking online or on the HAL Navigator app?
  10. I love the meme about the age numbers of Anders Celcius and Daniel Fahrenheit. I just hope that I never encounter the temperature at which the two of them agree and coincide..........minus 40 degrees!!!
  11. Lovely to look at, but do NOT ask me to deal with it! 😉
  12. The overall discount works out at 21.18% because the gratuity is charged on the full price and not discounted price, as shown by @kazu
  13. The millenium bug strikes at last!
  14. Good afternoon. It's cold here again. Well relatively, I suppose, not that we get much snow or ice, but when it gets to 0°c/32°f, we really suffer. Currently it is 4°c/39°f and will dip below zero c tonight. Some of the temperatures and weather that you guys get each year is beyond my comprehension. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
  15. Not silly at all. The whole thing is counter-intuitive.
  16. Beware of knitting needles! A quick google for novels with knitting needles as the murder weapon gives lots of reason to avoid knitting groups 🤣 Knitting Can Be Murder! Knit One Murder Two. Killer Cables. Murder & Merino. Twisted Stitches. Son of a Stitch. Crime Skein. Sins & Needles. Rest in Fleece. etc, etc
  17. Do you still have the App on your phone? Then go to "Account" > "Statement" and you should find your recent statement. It becomes available a few days after disembarking.
  18. I don't use the casino, but do remember seeing and hearing numerous reminders to 'cash out' of the casino before the end of cruise. HAL has not delivered final statements for several years now. They are available to download from the Navigator App or you could have called to guest services and asked for a printed copy.
  19. I have just found the credit card transaction and the Confirmation from HAL of the pre payment of grats. As I thought it was only €185.92 per person for 14 days verandah, to pay for USD 224 grats. $16 x 14 = $224. It was a great exchange rate.
  20. I agree with yours as that is what has happened when we pre paid grat (not part of a package). We have the added challenge of currency exchange rates!
  21. I have just looked at our next cruise on which HIA gratuities are included. When I go to Travel Planning > Pre Pay Hotel Service Charge, it still quotes the $16 per night for a verandah room, but shows the price as €223.66 (euro is currency of booking). So either they have increased the daily rate or change (for the worse) the USD/Euro exchange rate or a bit of both. I will need to check back on credit card statements to check exactly how much I paid for the last time, but I am certain it was less than €223.66 for 14 days.
  22. We constantly check the onboard account and use the Navigator App to 'Let them know' any incorrect postings.
  23. Were your 'Prepaid Grats' actually prepaid by yourself or prepaid as part of a HAL/HIA package? I believe it makes a major difference. My multiple experiences of purchasing 'PrePay Grats' on the website (not part of a deal) is that the amount paid is initially credited to the onboard account and then Daily Gratuities are charged to the account. If grats rise, then you will owe money to cover the balance. However, if the 'Prepaid Grats' are part of a HAL deal, then you do not see either the charge or the credit on the onboard account.
