However, I may be testing you on this question. On our free walking tour, our guide took us to a café for a break, mid-tour. I'm not sure but it may have been close to the Hotel d'Angleterre (I remember him talking about the significance of that hotel!).

Our guide suggested a hot chocolate that the café is known for - a stick each of white, dark and milk chocolate with hot milk poured over. You swirl around the chocolate in the hot milk until it melts - DEVINE!

Any ideas where this café is? Name? I would really like to have another one while in your beautiful city. :) I don't think we were in Stroget, I seem to recall a square.

Awesome - thank you. I'll plan on eating at some of these. The Royal Smushi Cafe looks like a fun way to try a sampling a various smorrebrod - it says their signature dish - Smushi - is various sushi sized smorrebroads for you to try and then served on Royal Copenhagen porcelain with George Jensen cutlery.

I did choose select - wifi included and more flexibility for dinner reservations, I would definitely choose same category again - the cabin was OK - did not spend a lot of time in the cabin anyway - nice bed and two good chairs . Wine beer by glass was round NOK 75 to 125 - water included for meals - restaurant offerings excellent - good food. Pay attention to location of cabin, however I think most Artic Superior cabin locations were OK - avoid midship board side (left side) - I did have a aft left which was fine - do expect noise when docking by night.

Coffee/tee was included in select - not speciality coffee which was NOK 40 to 50. Cake NOK 25 to 40 - did not notice price on ice cream. Please just add any other questions, happy to help.

Thanks for the answers and the tips about cabin location. Also that water was included with meals because someone else on these boards said you had to pay for water (unless it means if you chose basic level that it doesn't include water with meals).

Was Wifi just in select area on ship or was it also in cabins?

We are just now starting to consider doing the Midnight Sun voyage maybe even the longest 12 day round trip but the pricing is an eye opener.

I have questions, if you are willing to answer:

Which level did you do - basic, select, or platinum and why choose that level?

Also, I see you had Artic Superior cabin. Would you choose the same category if you would ever do the cruise again?

We read somewhere that a beer was $14 - so we're assuming all extra cost food and drinks run around that level? (Like bakery and ice cream area). Or maybe you didn't pay any attention to the extra cost items.

Tram 7 should terminate where tram 9 does now so that should be easy to find at the port end.

 

Hopefully, there will be an updated tram route maps out before you get there.

 

In May, there was a shuttle bus which ran from the ship into town for 10 euros return. That saves the walk around the wharf and leaves the legs for more walking around town.

 

Whatever you do, keep clear of Stockman's department store - your wallet will suffer if you go in. I have to admit it's the nicest big store we have been in - and the Boss makes sure we go into lots of stores!

Wow - your pictures are beautiful. We are scheduled to port at S167 Stadsgarden with 7am arrival, have an overnight and then leave the next day at 4pm. Hope that means we get to see some of this.

Sysy007 - thanks. We were considering a Semi DIY tour - doing some sites by ourselves and then joining an organized food tour. But after peeking at the link you provided, maybe we'll just do our own Food tour also.

Our June 2, 2017 Regal Princess sailing docked at West Harbour, LMA, Helsinki. If Tram 7 goes to Senate Square that's even better. Senate Sq is where Cathedral is. Orthodox Church is a few blocks from Senate Sq. Market Square is 1 block from Senate Sq.

Thank you, I was trying to not worry about the changes and figured that I'd just be having to find someone at the dock that day to explain all the new changes (that would have just been in place for 3 days). I'm guessing that the Tram 9 building you marked in your photo will be closed and we'll just have to find where Tram 7 is?

What do you do when you were in Helsinki? We haven't totally committed to anything yet.

On the Thread - Helsinki 2017 advice and FAQ, the original poster Jonza says that there will be major changes starting on August 14th - some of those being: for those docking at the LMA dock, Tram line 9 at West Harbor will be replaced by Tram line 7 and the new Tram line 7 will go to Senate Square one block from Market Square.

So, of course we arrive on August 17th and are supposedly at LMA dock - 3 days after the changes go into effect. I'm just trying to figure out how different it might be atnthat time.

We have the same situation in Copenhagen - we have an overnight in port and then we are flying to Switzerland with an 8am flight. We called HAL before we booked the flight and they said it wasn't a problem. We just need to notify reception/front desk after we embark. It's apparently a fairly common request.

Yes, we get a little less sleep on board but think it will be a much less hectic way to disembark versus having to disembark with "the masses".

Are there any companies that I can book a car ahead of time with? We are a party of 4 with kids so the cruise airport shuttle will be expensive and the train might be hard to manage with luggage. Our flight is at 12:20pm

We are on the same cruise as you (Zuiderdam Aug 11th) and are thinking about taking the train to Lübeck. If you are interested, we could go together and take advantage of the group train ticket - Kleingruppenkarte. Have you seen the app that's an audio guide for Lübeck? It might be helpful if a taking a guided walking tour isn't for you. Let us know what you think.

What changes are they making? :confused:

I was lead to believe that there would be changes when America's Test Kitchen rolls out. Maybe I was misinformed and ATK starting won't effect the current CAC diners. We can hope.

Does anyone have any current knowledge about this?

We loved our CAC dinners - both menus. Plus they were very generous with the wine. We wanted to return but thought we should try the other dining venues too. Doubt we'll be sailing Kdam before they make their change to their new format. What a shame - this CAC was a hit for us.
