  1. Our upcoming October trip is our first with 2 sea days in a row. I might lose my mind. The wife could sit on the balcony and read for a week. I have now lost 85 pounds and the lure of days of endless food, that I don't have to cook, will be daunting. I will have to hang out in the pool or maybe casino.

  2. I ended up booking PC1-605. Has a little of everything. Reading the tours, seems the cities are 1 1/2 away, so didn't want to waste 3 hours of the day on a bus. Seemed a waste also to go all the way there and sit on the ship in a lake for the day. Only thing left is Jamaica but we probably will hang close to the ship.

  3. Fair comparison. Love the comment on the hallway carpeting. It does come in handy. Since we are now 60 and have no kids with us, Princess all the way for me. I think the two lines are night and day. We have been in the clubs, on Princess at midnight, and they are going strong. Depends on the passenger mix. I think the IC is invaluable for us very early risers for decent coffee.

  4. Maybe. We had it in April but it was a waste. With so many past cruisers or diamonds or special needs or weddings, half the place went before us. They didn't start loading until noon and then it was controlled as well as Black Friday morning rush at Walmart.

  5. Thanks Bill. Stairs are doable but at a slow pace. The excursion using the dugouts to the Embera village is a no go because of the lowness of those dugouts. I will go back into Princess excursions for the exact tour I was referencing. Thanks for your assistance.

  6. The wife would like to see a little of city, indians and I'd like to watch the locks. We have mobility issues so alot of walking wouldn't work. Any suggestions? There is one excursions that has lake trip, indians and the lock tour. Has anyone done this? It's the 5 hr and $150 pp excursion. Thanks.

  7. Booked on the Carnival Glory and have a question about tendered ports in general a Belize in particular.

I've seen recommendations that you book excursions through Carnival to get tender priority but I've already paid for FTTF. Is Carnival going to put their excursion groups in front of me or will my FTTF status get me off the ship quickly so I can make my own plans? Then, if we do get off the ship quickly will we be stuck waiting for those without FTTF before an excursion transportation leaves?

I'm just beginning to research this, ideally I'll find a beach good for snorkeling and be able to grab a taxi and get there early!

We were on the Conquest and had FTTF and found it useless. It did not get us to the front of the line. So having an excursion would insure you off the ship promptly as that is controlled.

  8. We may have to enlighten Princess by going to the Guest Services Desk, picking up copies of the Patters and leaving all the Sales Ads. Seeing is believing. But every time a "test" is conducted, we know it's a pre lim to a change. Happy Sailing.

PS: We save all of ours and place in travel file of the trip at home. Then when friends inquire what is available on a Princess cruise, we share the Patters with them and let them see for themselves. They are a valuable sales tool.

  9. Didnt realized there was a bus to Tulum. Didnt like it that cruise line tour dropped us at a gift shop for an hour. pure waste of time.

Just a money grab by Carnival. Didn't like they parked the buses so we had to run the "gauntlet" of shops and everyone selling the same Tshirts, cigars and trinkets either. Tulum was great though.

  10. I have no problem going to the buffet for every meal. It's quicker and better variety.I don't need to get dressed up and parade through the dining room so everyone can see me. There are too many things to do instead of wasting 2 hours every night on sub par cold food.

  11. It was Carnival 30 years ago when it still was cruising. Now it's a cheap imitation. When people say Value, they really want to say cheap. I will spend a couple extra hundred and go on a classy cruiseline. By the time we get OBC for being veterans and whatever pops up, it's even or beats Carnival. Our next cruise, we have $600 OBC already which pays gratuities and excursions, maybe even some Casino tab. All this and no one running halls at 3am, adults areas are just that and service is better. Just the fact of sitting at the buffet and drinks are brought to table is plus now that trays are gone. Carnival had it's day for us. The wife is talking taking all the grandkids and their parents on their first cruise using Carnival. I'm trying to stay home, not looking to promising though.

  12. I didn't know they had such a place. Perhaps if they had one of those, the smokers would go in there and the casino might be a little more bearable for everyone. I'm sure the smokers don't enjoy having to go to the casino huddled around the smoking half of the bar or sit at a slot just to have a puff.

Perhaps Carnival would be doing everyone a service by making a lounge like that so that there is an alternate place for them to go if they didn't want to go outside for whatever reason.

It also gets more use because the Casino is smoke free on Elegant Nights.Casino air on those nights is stale but breathable.

  13. JH did ask the question of whether or not your ordered more than 1 entree in the MDR. Somebody probably took that to mean you can't order more than one. That's just how rumors start.

That's not how rumors get started. That's how changes get started. If JH says it's only a survey, bet on that horse.
