  1. The unlimited internet is fantastic and fast. Everyone who is Platinum and elite get that for now on the Regal whether or not they have the medallion. One the ***** is working 100%, that will go away.

Did you book prior to Princess changing the terminology from Ocean Medallion sailing to Ocean Preview Sailing for your cruise? If you did, then call Princess yourself and tell them how disappointed you are about not receiving an ***** stateroom. Ask for some OBC in lieu of the *****. Ask to speak to customer relations.

I booked it 6 months ago. I'll call tomorrow. Thanks

  2. Got an email yesterday for our 4/8/18 trip on the Regal stating our cabin will not be medallion ready BUT listed a whole bunch of fluff a rookie might think is wonderful that we still can use. Free unlimited wifi was one because we are platinum. Is that really a extra perk? I think they are just blowing smoke up my pantaloons. Has anyone called and received OBC because cabin not ready? I had our TA call and try but failed with 3 different folks. I think she wasn't aggressive enough but she has more at risk than we do.

  3. We've done this excursion, one long HOT day. Ferry ride, long cramped bus trip, with a stop at a souvenir shop, then the site where not enough time is allowed, then back to the bus through the vendor gauntlet and the ferry. Nice to say we saw them but we wouldn't do it again. We did the Panama Canal in 2016, that we are going to do again. Note, you can not climb the Tulum ruins, so it's a guided tour through the site.

  4. We were only Carnival up to 2012, flooded suite, and decided there had to be something better. We tried Princess and think that they are what cruising should be. No they get touchy on some nights for dinner attire but those 2/7 days eat at a restaurant or they have a great buffet. A cruise is what you make of it. Make your own fun, be the life of the party. Dance like no one is watching. The ship is still busy at midnight. Here's a secret: Older folks understand pace. We've seen folks dance ALL night. If you want wild and crazy, stay Carnival. If you like a little more subdued or upscale, Princess. Only 103 days left till our next Princess cruise. It's an entirely different vibe and we don't see Carnival in our future unless we cruise with others and majority rules. But then I still might not.

  5. Seeing as this port represents a huge investment by and for CCL' date=' it would likely take a major local incident to remove it from CCL itineraries. After visiting once I'm not sure a sea day is a bad alternative.[/quote']

We've been there as well and agree with the one and done approach. Port area is the standard cruiser trap and then it quickly goes to poverty island. The people on the dune buggy excursion looked like they had fun. I can't remember what we did but it involved some locals dancing and lunch after visiting a farm I think. Next time we would probably do the port and head back to relax on the ship. Most of the excursions, in every port, have turned into money grabs.

  6. You are correct. We choose Princess to go and relax and unwind. Life is in the fast lane and we like getting away from it all. Not sure what you need for entertainment but there is always something happening in the Piazza, shows, afternoon tea. We've always been busy if we chose to. But my main goal is Aft Pool or Sanctuary pool and a beverage. Glad you enjoy Princess overall.

  7. OK, I'll bite - Unless you have an excess amount of OBC burning a hole - why would anyone make any type of substantial purchase at one of the Princess onboard shops?

Are the prices that much better, or is it something that can't be purchased locally?

It was our 40th Anniversary and happy wife, happy life. I think Champagne was involved too. But I had them valued back here by our trusted jewelers and they were worth at least the 2K I paid. After attending the Watch show onboard, the wife did purchase for me a great Bremont watch when we were on Aruba. Those are not easy to buy in person in the US. NYC has them and maybe Vegas I believe. So it was an impulse trip and 40th anniversary only happens once. We did have $700 OBC but it only goes so far.

  8. I purchased a nice set of earrings from them and the wife didn't wear them until we got home. They were broken in the box. Everything goes through Princess for repair and be prepared for MONTHS to get them back. We opted to take to our local jeweler and they fixed in 10 minutes for a couple of dollars.

  9. We did the partial canal cruise last year and on canal day we did the Gatun lake cruise and then Canal Observation. The Lake boat ride, to me, was a total waste of time and money. Boat on water !! However the observation platform, I could have sat and watched all day. Just fascinating to watch the varied ships come through. We are talking about during this trip again and on canal day maybe doing the entire canal boat tour. But most important is to be up and ready when approaching the canal.
