What time did you line up and what time did you get off the ship?

What time did you arrive at FLL?

By 6.45 a.m., the ship was along side and cleared shortly there after. We decided, because of the long self assist line on the previous B2B cruise, to have our luggage taken off. Called to leave the ship about 8 a.m. Immigration was a breeze. Into a taxi and arrived at FLL, even with the airport traffic, at 8.40-ish.

The one advantage to taking an earlier flight (going anywhere) is that typically those flights would be on time (excluding weather-related delays).  Flights later in the day could be adversely affected by other delays (eg. mechanical) that get compounded throughout the day.

👍 Early is the better choice if in poor weather season.

(BTW, leave the Ashes when you go.).

catch a taxi instead of uber? Never thought of that. is it a flat fare to FLL?

I don't have tsa precheck but i dont imagine much of a line at security at 8am.

    Yes, plan B

Just off the Silhouette prior to Christmas. Self Assist line veeeery long. Folks queuing up just after 6 a.m. Facial Recognition system at Immigration very fast. Lots of taxis. Fare to FLL, with tip, $20. Road traffic at FLL was heavy and slow. Precheck TSA line non existent but regular lines, at 10.30 a.m., quite long but not unmanageable. 10 a.m. flight’s gonna be a real nail biter. FLL’s not the most convenient airport for a long wait. Good luck…

  4. You may wish to read Cruise Critic’s Ports of Call/British Isles and Western Europe for oodles of information on travelling from LHR to Southampton.

In September last, used aquacars.co.uk for the trip. Cost was £140. Driver met us at LHR, took the luggage to the car etc. etc. May be worth considering. Cheers…

  5. JB, good to see you are still providing top notch information. Happy Christmas and a healthy New Year to you and Mrs JB.

For the OP, took Aquacars from Southampton Docks to a Heathrow hotel in early September. Good service. Price was £140. Two passengers-2 suitcases. One caveat - if leaving a ship, arrange the spot for pickup. Cheers…

How does this work? is this something you need to sign up at the cruise next desk? I never received any kind of priority tags or letters about this on my past cruises.

On a recent Dawn cruise, priority disembarkation luggage tags were provided to those who qualified. We met in a specific lounge and were escorted to the gangway by the concierge. Easy peasy! Suggest speaking to Guest Services to ensure you get the correct tags.

  7. Got fog delayed earlier this year. Finally allowed to enter the Bay at 2 p.m. for the four hour sail in. The time folks got off, supplies loaded and new folks go on, the ship left in the early hours. On this occasion, very little, if anything, done to assist those waiting dock side to board.

When I ordered our medallions a couple of months ago, I was not able to choose to have them shipped to the house. I'm wondering if there is a noticeable difference in the check in lines. If so, I will cancel the current order and try again. We will be on the Discovery.

Think the organization of the checkin lines depends on the port. Just sailed on a U.K. Princess cruise boarding in Southampton. The checkin lines were designated ‘Platinum, Elite and Suites’. The other line was ‘All Others’. Quick and easy. As others have posted, it doesn’t really matter. Time of day may make a small difference. Just arrive and check in. Enjoy!
    Cheers…

Know your disappointment,  I would not be surprised if all passengers receive a FCC in the amount of one days room rate.

We were on a TA that had to divert around a huge storm and put us in a day late and shifted all ports by one day.   The next port was NYC and many had tickets for Saturday night for Hamilton.   Sunday was Black so no theaters and they were all out of luck.    They issued FCC's to everyone.

Had that happens 2 or 3 other times.

Remember that TA. As they say “ship” happens. Cheers…
