Normally I either win a bid or am notified at 48 hours pre cruise.

Last year I got rejected for a CS to RS upgrade but the night before the cruise I got a call from Shoreside Concierge and they had given us a complimentary upgrade.   The passenger in the RS had tested positive.   We had to use original documents an handwritten luggage tag as the manifest was locked and already submitted to homeland security.

Another cruise we bid on a RS and did not win the bid.   I inquired on board as it was sill available at 47 hours prior to cruise.    The got back to me and wanted $1,800 pp which was twice the maximum bid and more than I could have upgraded paying full price.    I declined and they sailed with the cabin empty.  I was told that the decision and pricing was controlled by the Revenue Manager.

Hi Jim, did you inquire at the Guest Service or the Suite Concierge? Thank you.

If  you are prepared to take a very small risk and have fun at the sametime it's easy and perfectly within the rules to turn OBC into cash at Roulette. We do this on every cruise and have only ever made a loss (around💲30 over a whole cruise) once.

    1) get 💲50 of promotional chips)

    2) play 💲5 at a time in 💲1 bets with each chip covering 4 numbers - this gives you roughly a 50/50 bet. A win gives you 💲8 back.

    3) Keep all winnings in one pile and only play with the promotional chips. Winning chips are real money.

    4) once the promo chips are spent cash in the winning chips and walk away.

Repeat as necessary until OBC is spent.

    Never chase loses.

Try to play on a wheel with a single 0

You won't make a fortune but you will have fun and walk away with cold hard cash.

    Above all have fun

Hi, Can you elaborate a little more? We have no experience in casinos. Do you randomly pick 4 numbers for each chip? And do we get $8 for each $1 winning chip? Thank you.

  3. So we went to see the cruise consultant again. She still insisted that YC deposits made before March 2022 for cruises prior to May 31 2023 is fully refundable. I asked her to cancel it for us cuz we just didn’t want this back and forth. We shall see what happens.

  4. We booked a YC cabin for March 2023 yesterday onboard Mera. Before we booked it, the future cruise consultant assured us that the deposit is fully refundable. But when we got the email, it says non-refundable. We went to see her immediately and she said not to worry as the email hasn’t been updated for their current flexible booking policy but the deposit is 100% refundable, 48 hour prior.    Yet, she didn’t have any print outs to give to us. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge of this? Thank you so much.

  5. Is it possible to change cabins after one gets an upgrade? The fine print says they will assign you a cabin. Just wondering anyone was able to move to a different cabin when there was availability. If yes, was it done at the pier or once onboard? Thank you.

I upgraded from a Belly Balcony to an YC Balcony on the Seashore in December.

The bid was $500 per person , on top of the under $1000 I originally booked at. $1900 total for a 5 night in YC balcony.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Yes from Bella balcony is possible.

It was actually my plan for this past December on Seashore.

I was b2b and I bid both times and ended up with YC Grand suite both times.

My bid was max on both sailings. $2420 was it. I was also on the 1st cruise for two people at $998 total and second cruise at $1058.

Minimum bid was $355 per so $710.

I kept watching availability prior and there was plenty for both otherwise I would have just paid for it. The available cabins increased two weeks out.

1st cruise was accepted at 10 days prior, second was 4 days prior while I was on it. I did have to change cabins and I doubt my 2nd was a GS as it had no walk in closet.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. Happy cruising.

  8. Hi,

Does anyone know whether a Bella Balcony is eligible for bidding to a Yacht Club? This is so new to me. I read it somewhere only 2 categories up is allowed and not sure what they count as 2 categories. What are some of the minimum bids from a balcony to Yacht Club for 7 night? Just so I have an idea. Thank you very much.

  9. I agree that Celebrity's suite prices have gotten out of hand. Am about to embark on my first MSC Yacht Club suite on the 13th. This cruise is replacing one I had booked in a sky suite on Celebrity. Less than half the price.

We are on the same boat. Loved Celebrity but came across some very positive reviews on YC so decided to give MSC a try. We will also be on the 10/13 sailing.

  10. Hi,

Our TA will stop at Rome, Cartagena, Malaga, Tenerife and then Fort Lauderdale. Where may I go to claim VAT refund for purchases prior to the cruise? There is a sea day after Rome. Does it mean I can claim the refund in Rome? Getting it done at the airport was straightforward. Not sure about on a cruise. Thank you.

  11. Sorry, been away from the boards for a few weeks. My favorite cruise line for Caribbean and anywhere is Celebrity right now. We are trying NCL again in January after being away from them for 7 years as part of a back-to-back with a Celebrity Silhouette cruise.

    Hi WonderMan3,

I was catching up on your Eclipse Jan 22 review. And I noticed from your signature that you were in both Sky and RS. We have been in Sky a few times and is booked in RS. I would like to get your view on how you compare the two. I know it is off the topic for this thread. Is it ok if we take it offline? My email is wvz168 at yahoo dot com. Thank you very much.
