Just got off the Legend today and Freeport was our last stop, this past Friday.  I did not notice any tour guides just holding signs but we got off really early so maybe that changed later.  I had booked in advance a day at Paradise Cove. If you are interested in a good snorkeling excursion I would recommend it.

    Amanda

Thanks for that info. Who did you book the snorkeling trip with?

  2. I want to do an excursion in Freeport but I prefer to wait until I get there to see whats offered. For those who have cruised there recently....did you see people holding signs selling excursions when you walked of the cruise ship?

  3. A few years ago I was on 7mile beach in Grand Cayman when a boat pulled up with at least 30 people on it. The boat was playing loud music and people were drinking and dancing. Any idea where I can find and book this excursion?  They were all having a blast

Hi Westbank, sorry , I cannot give you the name of a specific restaurant, there are several food stands right there, in this picture they are on the top left.

We did not eat there, so I can't give you any feedback, but I think it is safe to say that if you are looking for agourmet fare, you will need to look elsewhere.😏. I don't know that there are any such establishments nearby.

BTW, in this photo, the building right behind the foodstands, just across the street  is the airport building that has free clean restrooms.

Thank you so much. I'm not really looking for a gourmet meal just clean food. The last time I was in St Lucia I asked the cab driver to take us to a public beach that offered food and restrooms. He took us to beach right next to Sandals Grande. The only food we had to eat came from a man barbecuing chicken 1 foot from the ground using a sort of camp fire, lol. Needless to say we didn't get to eat that day.

It is absolutely walking distance. Around 20-30 minutes.

Cab should run $10 one way for up to 4.

Great thank you. And do they have several different restuarants to choose from along vigie beach?

    Hi Reedprincess

Just to say that I've now booked Rendezvous and am really looking forward to it. The whole process was very quick and easy.

Thank you so much for the recommendation!

I don't see how to book rendezvous.  Can u share a link please? Thanks

Spinnaker's themselves don't rent chairs and loungers.(unless something has changed in the last three months)  It's the guys on the beach in front of Spinnaker's or to the sides, etc that didn't so.

Spinnaker's is a full service restaurant - drinks, food, etc. Have to buy something to use the restroom.   There's also Seagrapes and Hi-Tide for full service lunch down to the right of Spinnaker's, along with the full bar service at BGBR and restrooms, again if you buy something.   Lots of chair and unbrellas vendors all along the beach.

    Thank u!

Haha LittleYiaYia, we just got back from our cruise on the Koningsdam and also were claimed by Kodak as our personal beach butler the moment we stepped out of the cab. I immediately gave him $2 and told him he was my first beach butler, which meant I didn't have to deal any other vendors since we belonged to Kodak. I then gave the guy next to him the $20 or $30 for the two loungers and umbrella and we were escorted to our spot.

I had three of my children with me (14,18,22) and I think the fare was $15 each way, but I gave our driver Bradley $20 each way. He was very prompt in coming back for us as promised several hours later. If you use Google Maps the beach bar we went to on Vegie Beach with Kodak is listed as Eugeny's Place. It's at the opposite end of Vegie Beach from the Rendevous Hotel.

Contrary to BellaSorella's experience, the airport only had one small airplane flight we saw the whole time we were there. From a security standpoint,  I actually liked having a fenced off mile of runway across the street from Eugeny's, it means there's no wander-up locals or bad housing near the beach.

I've been on 25 cruises, so I don't think I'm naive, and I thought the beach was very pretty with its beach bar and the small grove of pretty palm trees along the street. The sand was great and there were more than enough people to feel safe, yet the beach was not crowded at all. The car rental places for the airport are directly across the street from Eugeny's and I also saw the little train/bus vehicle stop at Eugeny's for their beach moment. I told my kids if they weren't good I'd make them leave the beach and have to ride that train around the rest of the day!

After 20 years of cruising with my children, I've really boiled down the reason I'm in the Carribean is to enjoy the beautiful beaches and warm water. Since I have six children and regularly travel with all of them, the idea of paying $500 or $600 for a shore excursion, that I can do for less than a $100 myself with a short cab ride, is the way I go now.

I've attached a Google Map showing how close Vigie is to the ships (I liked that), also a shot of Kodak with us, and finally a shot of my kids swimming at Vegie. Call me crazy, as far as I'm concerned, Vigie Beach was absolutely a great beach. If we are going to split hairs maybe it's not on the top 100 list on the planet, but why would I care about that anyway? We loved it and it was very close and inexpensive too.

Take a look at the shot of my kids in the water at Vegie Beach. If you don't think that's a great beach, you're way out of my league!

Did I read correctly that it cost $15 to get from the cruise ports to Vigie beach? It looks almost like walking distance. Am I misunderstanding something?

We were recently in St Kitts and took this excursion. It was me, my husband and two kids, ages 14 and 12. It was the best excursion out of all we have taken so far! Such a wonderful day—a rainforest hike, climbing on lava rocks by the ocean, a drive through the island, learning so many island facts, a wonderful lunch provided, followed by great snorkeling and some time at the beach. A little bit of everything. And Javin’s pet monkey was on the tour with us and was so hilarious—a really unique and fun part of the excursion! Never thought we’d have a monkey sitting on our shoulders! Many wonderful family memories made that day. I highly recommend it for your stop in beautiful St Kitts! (Javin also takes pictures of you the whole day and puts them on his website for you for free. We have so many awesome family photos from our great day.)

How much time did you spend at the beach?

  11. The only one I have ever heard about is the Great Bay Beach right by the port and that is supposedly due to the petroleum products used by the ships and refueling. Some people still use the beach and I've not heard of problems. We regularly go to Maho or Orient and have a great time at both.

So Maho beach didn't was away? Is the airport open yet to watch planes land?

  12. Can anyone tell me about how much the electric boats cost to rent? And is the water clear at the port? I've been to the carnival port and the water there is brown.

  13. It's not much of a destination. The beach isn't that great. If you are looking for a beach day I'd consider something else. If you were wanting to do something a little different and visit the fish fry, then you can certainly make that spot work.

Thanks. I was thinking about doing a beach day, then heading to the fish fry for lunch, then hang out at senior frogs before heading back to the ship. I just saw in pictures how crowded junkahoo beach gets so I was looking for a different beach in walking distance.
