  1. First....never stay on the boat. Every island has something to offer.

I've been to many islands but I must admit Belize is the only island that ever made me feel a little unsafe outside the gate. With that being said don't wander around....just be sure to book an excursion. Enjoy.

  2. Even though everything outside was closed at night we still walked all around the grounds without any problem. We viewed the aquarium for free and sat around the bar in the lobby and had drinks. We planned to hit the night club there until we discovered that it was $100 per person cover charge

  3. I haven't taken that particular tour, but I have taken their West Bay Beach Break that takes you to Bananarama. It was a great value and the service was excellent and very personalized.

I was expecting an overcrowded old bus with maybe 100 people crammed into every possible seat. Instead we had a nice minibus with the four of us and I think one other couple.

Our driver Diane was a 3rd generation local Roatan gal of British background. She was personable, a good driver, and she really knew the island well. We pretty much had her for the day, and she offered to take us anywhere else we wanted to go. We just wanted to snorkel at West bay until we were prunes so she stayed there and let us do that until there was comfortable enough time to get back to the ship. We tipped her well because we were really pleased with our day. We have the same excursion booked for next Tuesday and I hope she is our driver.

I can't say how your excursion would go but our experience was very good and they really seemed to be trying to please their customers.

Yes, thanks. Glad to hear that!

  4. You would be incorrect. I have 3 children. Unfortunately for me, even though kids sail free offers the lowest rate it is still not within my budget this year. I'll keep checking rates and hope for something less expensive to come along.

I've have posted several times already, you cannot combine promotions. Seems like you're wanting the 1st and 2nd passenger rates of the dreaming of vacation promo and the 3rd, 4th, 5th rates of the kids sail free. It doesn't work that way. You have to choose the promotion that offers the lowest rate and for you that seems to be dreaming of vacation.

This is my last post about this with you because I'm done....I completely disagree with you because advertising "kids sail free" when someone can book the exact same cruise today for a cheaper price justifies that the kids are not sailing for free. They jack up the price for 1 & 2 and advertise free just to get people to book. Scam.

  5. Looks like if you're booking a cabin for 3 people the kids sail free promo does not offer the lowest total price. However, price that same sailing for 4 people in the same room and see which promotion is the least expensive.

Actually, dreaming of vacation is still cheaper for 4. If you follow through with the entire booking for 4 people, balcony, on vista deck, "kids sail free" is still $90 more than "dreaming of a vacation sale".

  6. Gman2004.....by the way, the reason I said that I was comparing the "kids sale free" rate to my rate from a month ago is because the other rate offered TODAY "dreaming of vacation" is the exact rate that I paid a month ago. I suspect that you do not cruise with children.

  7. In therein lies the problem. You're trying to compare the price you paid last month to today's price. Being a 14 time cruiser you should know by now that rates are based on availability. If the cruise you're booked on has less availability today the price will be higher, but the kids sail free promotion may still be offered on that sailing. A sale does not mean you're going to get the lowest price ever offered, especially when you're talking about cruises where rates go up as the availability goes down. If they are offering something today that wasn’t available yesterday, that is a sale.

When my wife bought a new car in 2007 we got 0% financing. She just recently bought a new car this year and we didn't get 0% financing. We still took advantage of the "sale" they had at the time. Using your logic since we didn't get 0% financing it wasn't a real sale.

Ok, so look at my post after that which shows the price of my cruise with the 2 prices offered TODAY! Kids sale free is $641 more. It's misleading people with children to think that is the cheaper price. I'm just saying how can they name the sale that when you are not getting anything for free. We can agree to disagree!

  8. The problem is that you don't know or won't accept the fact that promotions are not combinable. I've priced out several dates for 4 people in the same room. It is the lowest rate. You cannot take the 1st and 2nd rate from another promotion and combine it with the 3rd and 4th rates off the kids sail free. Just like you can't take the OBC from one promotion and add it to another.

I will be going on my 14 cruise so I certainly know how to check prices. I am comparing the cost of "kids sail free" to the cost I paid last month when booking the summer vacation rate. It is $700 higher

  9. I wonder if possibly they were not sold out when you went. I tried to book them while on the ship . I didn't try to sit in the empty ones because I assumed the person who reserved it would be coming. The front row is much much better and definitely free.

  10. Last time in Mahogany Bay I stayed on Carnivals private beach and I liked it. I tried to buy the clam shell chairs but they were sold out.....which turned out to be a blessing. The clam shells are located on the last row of chairs. From those chairs you will only see the chairs in front of you and you will not feel any breeze at all because it's sort of like a tent . Your best bet is to get off the ship early and get a free chair on the front row. Even the 2nd row isn't bad. Some chairs are located in the sun and some were under palm trees. They have hundreds of free chairs.

  11. Has anyone done the Wildlife Tour with Island Marketing in Roatan? Seems like you get a lot for $42.

Iguana Farm, Tropical Bird Center, Monkey Park, West End Village shopping, West Bay Beach.....

If you've done this excursion I'd love to hear details!
