Distance to Fantoft stavkirke is round 9Km (5.6 miles) - so not really walking distance

I have added a Quito pre- and post-cruise review to my blog

Pricing depends on when you are in Copenhagen. There is a major song contest there in early May and hotels are very expensive - double or more - during that period.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is from May 1st to May 10th.

Another good hotel close to Central Station is 'Double Tree by Hilton Amsterdam'
New hotel from autumn 2011

In Flam, how do you get to the train station from the cruise port? Do you need to buy tickets in advance?
I will only comment on Flåm:
Train is walking distance from ship - only 5 minutes - do not buy tickets in advance, but be early at the ticket counter - early trains will sell out fast.
You can get some additional inspiration from my Norwegisn Fjords Cruising Blog

Public transportation from hotel/airport to cruise port will depend on cruise ship and time - please let us know.
Ftom Hotel/airport into Copenhagen there are two options - either the train to Central Station - Station at airport is level -1 at terminal 3 (next to the Hilton Hotel)
There is also a metro line into Kongens Nytorv (central place in Copenhagen)). The metro station is located at level +1 just nest to the Hilton.
You need a three zone ticket from airport to Copenhagen

Questions well answerd ny sddsddean - just some comments.
Even Geiranger tendering and the Flåm train are both wheelchair friendly outside 'rush hours'.
A cruise from Copenhagen might be a good choice - short distances - and for a two week a B-to-B Baltic and Norwegian fjords cruise will be a good option.
I did bring my 93 year old Mother in Law last eyar - and several peopel in wheelchair as well.

Can anyone help-
I am wondering if it ld be possible to do the Flam train at 0835 and come straight back down on the 0939 arriving in Flam at 1035 and then do the boat trip to Gudvangen and return by bus from thee.
It fits with the cruise ship timetable but am I trying to do too much? Also is the bus /boat trip worth it?
If anyone has done the boat/bus trip and can help i'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for all your help
Susan
When is arrival? - Answer to question about 8:35 departure depends on time of arrival, docked or tendered, and other ships the same day.
09.45 will be back in Flåm at 11:55 - depending on departure there might still be time for a fjord boat trip. Very short distances.

There is an 'Extend Your Stay' program, but only available on all European sailing

Agree with - both are worth a visit. However, 2014 will be a historic year for Berlin. It marks the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989.

I expect the ship will dock in the morning - personally I will make taxi arrangement during the day - book taxi and agree on price. Might be appr. 200,000 rupiah which is USD 20 - taxi's will accept payment in USD

Our cruis on Azmara finishes in Benoa Bali and we are getting of the night before as it is there over night. Will it be tendered for a smaller ship or docked if anyone knows. If it is tendered and we need to go to the airport at say 9pm how do you work that?
The Azamara Quest will be docked in Benoa, Bali Monday, February 16, 2015.

mariner of the Seas will tender into Patong Beach - I do not know about tendering, but normally when staying over night tenders will have some operation for entire night.

I have done the RCCL Norwegian Fjords - chosing RCCL, Celebrity or NCL depends on your preferences for cruise line and then the itinerary / ports of call - Geiranger, Flåm and Bergen are my recommendations.
Being from Denmark, I'll suggest a cruise from Copenhagen - and also suggest late May or early June when there still is snow at the mountains.
I did Ålesund, Geiranger, Flåm and Bergen from Copenhagen first week of June 2013. See the review of the cruise and watch the videos at my Norwegian Fjords Blog

The 9:45 from Flåm will arrive into Myrdal 10.43
Then there is a train from Myrdal 11:11 towards Voss/Bergen (arrival Voss
12:05) - towards Oslo only few trains. Please note that this is current time - June time table not available yet.
You can find train times at https://www.nsb.no/timetables/
Myrdal 15:59 will arrive into Flåm at 16.55 - might be a bit tight, but doable.
The trains is not 'sold out' from Myrdal to Flåm - only from Flåm, so not a problem getting seats at 14:43 from Myrdal to Flåm.
You might be able to go to Voss - return trains are 13:14 or 14:40 - arrival Myrdal 13:55 / 15:30. - I like your contingency plan.
An alternative is the train and being back 11.55 - just in time for a fjord cruise

Yes that's what I thought. I can get a flight at 12:45, but that would mean checking in at 10:45. Not sure if I would be in time..
Should not be a problem - looks like after 10AM is fine
You are welcome in the 10s as well.

We were on Liberty in May 2013 - She was in Barcelona quite early in the morning and we did dis-embark at 8.
However, I would not book any flights before noon myself.

What to pack was the first question I asked myself when starting to plan our November 2013 Galapagos Cruise.
watch this short video I made to inspire future Galapagos visitors:

On smaller ships My Time Dining tend to be 'sold out' early - possible to change when onboard - or call TA to chang or get on waiting list if already full

It's too late when you cannot get a cruise - At the web you can find cruises sailing tomorrow.

Just be aware that visa requirements are different depending of which country you live in - example for Vietnam is that visa is required for USA citizens but not For Denmark citizens.
This link might give some guidelines:

Kuala Lumper
in Asia
It does take approximately an hour - we did Kuala Lumpur on our own in January this year.
We took the mono rail/metro from Bukit Bintang to China town and walked back to Bukit Bintang.

January 2013 Millennium did tender into Patong Beach

You might even need a multiple-entry visa.
DFDS Seaways
in Northern Europe & Baltic Sea
Posted
Not a lot of help on this one - I have been sailing with DFDS few times to/from Copenhagen/Oslo - primarily to avoid driving.
DFDS is docking in the same are as the cruise ships, but not walking distance - location is Dampfærgevej 30, 2100 København Ø
You can check-in from 09:00 and need to be onboard at 16:15 - don't know if it's possible to store luggage - try to contact travel.sales@dfds.com.
Crossing can be rough but not necessarily. think that DFDS ships might be 'more sensitive' to rough sea than cruise ships.
I have no experience with Commode cabin? in general not the same level of service as at cruise lines.
Personally I would take a flight.from CPH to OSL
