There is a little tag on the inside of your door, one side says privacy please and the other side says refresh room, so you can leave that one outside your door for the steward depending on if you want privacy ...

The old lock had slot where you inserted cruise card. The "Do Not Disturb" card either went into this slot or a larger placard went on door handle. There were posts that when new locks were installed, the do not disturb signs were removed.

Ocean Medallion ships have a do not disturb light that shows on the screen outside your cabin.  The same screen shows the persons name and picture when you approach the cabin.

Despite all the hoopla, Princess has been incompetent in implementing this entire process. As of this date, a total of two (2) ships are functioning OM, 17 months after making grand announcements

The question was for the Ruby, one of the 15 ships without the OM

  3. Sorry, but entire argument is specious. Your claim that he can't use OM for EF reasons. First problem, the OM has three embedded chips with three separate frequencies. If you opt out, you are issued with a cruise card with TWO EMBEDDED CHIPS. Since all the locks were swapped out, this is the only way to open your cabin. Your on a ship with 4000 other people (pax and crew). So if your husband can't carry the OM, what happens when he's surrounded by 12,000 EF chips?

I did look at Caribbean and Star balcony and mini-suite information on the Princess website.

Both ships and cabin types not only pictured the barrel chair (see the 360 degree version) but pictured and verbally noted the barrel chair in the AD Panoramic Tour, which is the Audio Description tour of the cabin.

Princess has been nickel and diming us for years. The chairs are GONE from certain categories of cabins on those ships people have reported. Princess is not spending a cent on updating website, because they don't have to. If you read EVERYTHING on those pages, you'll find disclaimer that it "represents" what may be in a cabin but not guaranteed. They wont update photos or diagrams until they have to.   Someone posted that one of the new ships on the website has photos with the balcony chair turned around to appear there is a second chair in the cabin.

Wanted to see if anyone else has come across this issue, and if so, how did your rectify it?

I downloaded all the Apps to my I-phone for the Medallion usage.  When I enrolled in Ocean Ready, it took my name and date of birth.  Then it asks to link my journey.  I assumed my journey was my "Booking Number" ....

Since Princess can't get their act together, no OM on our up coming cruise. Along with your booking number, there is a voyage number. Try those

I see no reason logical or cost reason to remove the 2nd chair.....

Read one post a while back that made total sense. Bottom line, Princess is a business. Their objective is to remove money out of the pax pocket in the most efficient way possible. By making it uncomfortable for a pax to stay in their cabin, they are forced out to public areas where there are numerous ways this can be done. How do you make it uncomfortable to stay in your cabin, make you stand...

You do not need to carry on all your luggage.... just small carry ons

Always carry on medicine, valuables, any important documents, change of clothes and any delicate items (once saw longshoremen throwing bags for distance on cement floor)

Good outlook, Rabbit.  I've never had an issue asking if I can set my carry on in the cabin, out of the way, no one has ever said no.   I don't look at it as a big deal, if you have to wait, relax, have lunch, a drink, I'm on a cruise what is not to like???

Depends on the ship or captain, don't know who makes decision. Have read reports that that on some ships, the fire doors going to hallways by elevators are closed preventing pax from even getting close to cabins.

Touching a dock has nothing to do with it.  Once the ship enters the country's waters, you have entered the country.

Never had it happen to me, can only go by what has been posted. More than once the return leg Hawaii-Los Angeles/Long Beach have uncounted propulsion issues. Each time the ship has proceeded to Ensenada. Ship touched the dock, didn't tie up and immediately backed off and made for the SoCal port. Have no idea of the legality, just the fact that in real life they have kissed the dock.

  9. VERY SIMPLE, you will know almost right away where and at what time the muster will be. Wife as similar issue, so we show up 15-25 minutes early with a book or whatever. Pick a comfortable place to sit and wait.

  10. The OM act like the cruise card, you'll see no difference in it's use. If ship is fully OM functional, you'll be able to use cabin TV and public screens to do some functions like locating each other and access to folio.

  11. Only bothered with a suit 6 times out of 14 cruises, wife takes nice dress. Learned quite quickly a long sleeve dress shirt and tie did the job.

My trick for wrinkles, put everything possible on wire hangers. Use the flimsy plastic dry cleaners use to protect clean clothes, up to three articles per "bag". When packing just lay clothes in back and forth motion. Pack snugly or strap items in place. While traveling, the plastic allows the items to slide back and forth rather than bunch up.

Most scooters won’t get through the door of a standard cabin and if it does won’t be much room to get around it.

There are scooters designed to be narrow to begin with, they give a couple of inches clearance for doors. The issue with regular cabins is the hallway width. To line up to get a straight shot at the door opening, your going to have to go back and forth 3-4 times to position the scooter to get through.

  13. You agreed to whatever terms for a contract for original cabin at the price you wanted. You now want a new contract but the value has dropped of original booking. If you wanted, the Princess rep would change your booking, but was polite to point out the penalty.

Here in the U.K. we have to fill in a disability form before we travel.

The reason ships only have a few accessible cabins is that, in an emergency, someone is assigned.......

Sorry, not even close to reason. If you look at deck plans, you'll see accessible cabins use about 50% more area. So that ship designed to have to have 1800 cabins now only has 1200. To make up the difference, that ticket price has to be increased 50%.

..... am leaving it at home, but its possible a smell might linger.

Behind the scenes, ALL luggage is x-rayed and hit and miss for presence of drug/ex[losive sniffing dogs. In the event your bags are suspect, you will be contacted by security for search of your possessions. If your holding, you will experience the fastest cruise possible as you are escorted off the ship. You have to realize all most all cruise ships sail under foreign flags and your going to countries where jail time results from small amounts.

  16. The question was "Upgrade"and yes, unless booking is marked no upgrade they can move you. Vast majority of "upgrades" is simply location. Of the thousands of cabins each week, very few are upgrades to the next SIZE cabin. Interior to balcony and such are referred to as the "upgrade fairy". If important, check your booking every so often or just change that answer to that question via Princess.
