  1. Thanks for the responses. We tried to switch to first seating fixed and were told it wasn't possible. There really seems to be a management issue on Silhouette.

And the hostess does not take reservations for the next night. You have to call the next day only to be told nothing is available. Fortunately the rest of the cruise is better.

  2. We were on Silhouette Jan 14-26 and experienced the same mess with select dining. We waited the first night for 90 minutes! And the hostess was snippy when I checked after an hour to make sure we had not missed the pager going off. After that experience, we were advised to make a reservation for the next night as we entered the dining room each evening. That seemed to work, although we were having to line up before 5:30pm and the lines on both sides were long. Once the doors opened at 5:30 the lines did move quickly. When we booked, early dining was not available, and we don't eat late. But 5:30 is not our preferred time. Previous cruises we have been able to show up around 6 - 6:30 and get a table. I did make a comment on my post-cruise survey.

  3. After 2 good experiences on Reflection with any time dining, this cruise is totally different and not good. Our first night we already changed our time to 5:45 and the line to get in with reservations wrapped past the Martini Bar. You can't reserve a time for the next evening after dinner; instead you must have called the previous day. Nothing available before 8:30 pm. Today, we called at 9:15 am to try for 6 pm tomorrow and we're told just to show up. When we said that wasn't working well, the host said that's how they were doing things. So far we've had 2 meals in the the dinner room and 2 in the buffet. No discounts on specialty dining either. Not impressed. We will be discussing with the appropriate managers.

  4. Thanks to you fabulous CruiseCritics, I found copies of all 14 of the MDR's current menus, and figured out which seven normally appear on a 7-night cruise. However, we're on a 9-nighter in January, so I was hoping to find out if anyone knows which two of the remaining seven might appear on our sailing! We'll be doing most of our dining in specialty restaurants, but we have a couple of nights where we might hit the MDR and are just hoping to make an informed choice on which menu looks the best. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for this! Very helpful for our upcoming cruise.

  5. We did the tour last year on Reflection, and enjoyed it. You spend time on the bridge, galley, engineering, laundry, recycling, and food storage areas. It was fascinating although the behind-the-scenes tour on Princess a few years ago included food and drinks. None included with Celebrity. We signed up onboard. They promote it in the daily newsletter.

  6. I'm currently reviewing our recent Serenade of the Seas 11-day Southern Caribbean cruise over on the Royal Caribbean board, including detailed descriptions of the excursions we took in each of the ports.

I believe forum rules prohibit me from posting these details here unsolicited, but if any of you who are due to visit St. Lucia soon would like to read about our experience you can find it in post #69 on this thread: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/show....php?t=2574952

Thank you for sharing. We are thinking about the same tour for January but not interested in the !us baths. Good to know the volcano is an option.

  7. We have enjoyed Cellar Masters on our 2 Reflection cruises. Stephanie was the sommalier (sp) both times, and was very helpful in assisting us with wines. We found it was very pleasant to stop in before dinner and select a glass to take with us. The selections were better than the choices available on the Classic package, which we had. We used OBC to get wine cards and had fun trying lots of wines we wouldn't have otherwise.

  8. This is ridiculous! Celebrity should be ashamed of putting their paying guests through this. I can't imagine all the planning it takes to do a T/A, arranging for time off work if necessary, excursions, hotels, airfare costs, etc. and then find out with 5 days to go that you have been kicked to the curb for another (presumably) passenger who is paying more. And that it is happening to several people--not just one instance.

So disappointed in Celebrity. How can any of us plan for a cruise, pay in full, and know that we could be booted off at any time?

  9. Just took this tour on Reflection last week. Bridge tour, engineering, laundry services (amazing what 16 staff have to do each day), galley, kitchen stores, and more. Very interesting and the opportunity to ask questions and take lots of photos. While less expensive than the Princess tour, the Celebrity tour does not go to the medical bay, theater behind the scenes and other engineering areas that Princess does. Princess also provided appetizers, drinks, and several gifts including your photo with the captain. We found both tours worthwhile.
