First-time HAL cruiser here! I'm able to reserve our complimentary dining today but I have a question. We'd prefer Canaletto's menu over Tamarind but I don't see how to made a reservation for it without paying (we are not Asian food fans -- I know that's a minority).
Do I make reservations and get charged, then try to change it once onboard? Are there other options?
Thanks so much.

Do your Princess shore excursions get canceled automatically when you cancel a cruise? I'm having to cancel last-minute for a cruise departing Saturday, and need to know if there's a way to cancel the shore excursions now.
We are devastated to have to cancel for health issues.
Thanks.

@LACruiser88 Thank you for posting the MDR dinner menus when you dine there -- it's great to see up-to-date menus so I can develop my dinner plans! And thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. I have enjoyed following along with your cruise.

Our last Princess cruise in 2019, we requested early dining, table for 2, well in advance. Instead we were directed to a table for 8, which we declined, then to a table for 6 and told that was all that was available. Less said about the tablemates, the better!

Hmm. I asked my physician for a Paxlovid prescription for an upcoming cruise and she said no!

We sailed on the Grand round-trip to Hawaii in 2019 and the itinerary made up for shortcomings onboard. The buffet was below average and small, particularly since they would close off one entire side in the evenings. There were numerous leaks on several decks and one day the casino and areas around it were closed due to flooding from a heavy Hawaiian rainstorm.

The dining situation is unacceptable. I suggest requesting a meeting directly with the Food & Beverage director (and be sure to mention how the restaurant manager/dining manager is always "too busy" to talk with you).

No need to convince me -- we're booked on Sky Princess next June for the Midnight Sun/Arctic Circle cruise. Really looking forward to seeing your beautiful country!

Mashed potatoes with almost everything?

Also, it seems some of the Iceland ports are missed more often than Norway due to bad weather. I vote for Midnight Sun (and am booked for that cruise next year). Come join us! There's already an active roll call.

HAL newbie here anticipating my upcoming cruise! A dining question -- I prefer more vegetables at dinner than what I see on photos. May I put in a standing request for a plate of steamed broccoli/carrots with my MDR waiter?
Thanks!
