  1. They don't do anything dumb like use a mix or anything, right? Generally, as long as they don't use a mix, I think they are good enough to drink a few. But if they use a mix it's a no go for sure.

I'm not 100% sure, I've tried them a few times but always at dinner, so I never watched them make it, and it never got better. I don't think it tastes like a normal LI tho so I wouldn't doubt it's a mix.

  2. Wait, why are the Long Islands disgusting on the ship? I usually really like Long Island's but now I'm worried.

Lol, well that's just my opinion, don't let that discourage you from getting one and trying it, you may like it. And like anything else, some ships and or bartenders may be better. I do like Long Islands

  3. Easily I can drink one per hour but 15 Foster's is 31 twelve ounce beers and the Long Islands have multiple shots per drink also. Yes, if you drink the cheaper drinks like Coor's light you could max out without getting too drunk. But 15 drinks a day is plenty if you get the right kind :D!

I agree 15 a day is plenty, and I know what a Long Island is, which I think are disgusting on the ship. If there is one drink that would be hard to drink 15 it would be a martini, IMO

  4. So I just saw that carnival offers an armed forces discount which I did not know of until just now can i get it applied to my price and just get obc or am I just out of luck and just do it on my next cruise.

If you are not booked with something like super saver or pack n go rates, and you're not past final payment, then you can get the military rate. If you are past final payment date, then only if you booked ES can you get the military rate.

  5. I was told they will only check Carnival prices. The example she used was Priceline. She said they would not match the cruise fare on Priceline. If Priceline chooses to offer a lower price then that is Priceline eating the cost, not them.

I did double check the ES rate fine print and what she said was true. They will not honor other travel website prices if they are lower than Carnival's.

The form asks you what website you seen the lower price on, and I have submitted a price I seen on ***********. But Carnival is usually the lowest I see, and the ES qualifications have changed a bit in recent years.

Lol, you can't see the website

  6. There's no reason to " beware of Conquest ", it's one server on a ship of hundreds of employees. He was a bad server yes, but he may or may not already be on another ship, if he's not he certainly will be eventually. I was on the Conquest and had a great time with no issues. IMO a better heading would be, " keep an eye on your S&S bill ", which people should already be doing.

  7. My examples are FTTF and specialty dining restaurants onboard. I even don't understand paying for the specialty shakes and desserts, or cappuccinos in the dining room. I'll just stick to regular coffee thanks, even though I previously enjoyed their (free) cappuccinos. I am not cheap by any means but I am savvy. I refuse to patronize specialty restaurants (the MDR food is wonderful enough, as it should be), and in my opinion first to the fun may only save you a half hour here and there. Are people that impatient? You're on a cruise, it's not like you have to get to work in a hurry! What's next, charging to have your luggage delivered to your stateroom? Where does it end? That's right, why WOULD the nickel and diming by Carnival end if everyone keeps shelling out?

Good thing is you don't have to pay for any of this stuff if you don't want it. So why complain ? If you don't want FTTF don't buy it, for some people it is worth it. Don't want to pay for specialty drinks, don't. I'm going to guess you have never been to the steakhouse, you will not get those steaks for free. I'm fine with the MDR, but sometimes people just want to treat themselves to something extra, nothing wrong with that.

  8. I'm sorry Carnival gurus. I know you answer these questions all the time, but when even Carnival staff has different answers to the same question, I have to throw up my hands.

We're sailing in April. Two rooms booked on ES rate. My DH is the lead in one room, booked ES but is retired military and eligible for Carnival military rates- and has sailed with military rates in the past.

Currently the price of his room is $799 PLUS a $50 SBC that was part of a military deal last month.

Today the price of the cruise dropped to $749. In the past, I was told that the credits were totally separate from the price drop.

Recently, though, this hasn't been the case. They've given the lower rate and taken the SBC back.

So, if I put in a price drop for the $50 price difference, should Carnival

A- Drop the price to $749 and leave the $50 attached to the room

    or

B- Drop the price to $749 and take back the $50 SBC which basically is a wash and is not a price drop for us?

    Thanks.

If your OBC is linked to a specific fare code and you change that fare code, then yes you will lose that OBC. So in this case yes you would lose that $50 OBC for the military rate.

  9. About 2 years now. Take a look if you allow them to take autogiros from you. $2 a day per person goes to a pool that includes entertainment.

That's when we went back to cash tips.

That has nothing to do with with these concerts, and I don't care that a whopping $2 a day goes to the ships entertainment, whether I see all the entertainment or not. You never see any of the shows, play bingo, play trivia, nothing that has to do with entertainment ?
