    Day 4 Daily

We did not make the comedian on Day 3 (Don Gray) - we finished up at Chops for dinner after his early show started and we lost track of time at the casino and missed the late show.  It looks like that was the only time he was performing, so a bit of a bummer.

Last night (Day 4) we were at the Chef's Table for dinner.  I will post pictures and thoughts about that later.

Today is Aruba day - off to go snorkeling!

A few things I want to post about in the next few days are the Casino, the Solarium, the Seaplex, and Two70.

Thank you so very much for all your posts and fantastic pictures from the Odyssey this week. We sail on Sunday for the 6 day cruise.

It is a long trip for just 6 days but booked a long time ago. Looking forward to the rest of your posts before we fly out on Sat.

    Or Milestone.

I think it is 50 cruises cause a friend of ours had a white one and he had done 50 ccl cruises

I have a milestone (just being alive) on our Celebration cruise in April I do not know if 25 qualifies for a white card. We will see come April. Long time ago they put a little sticker on your card if 25 or 50 but can't remember.

We were on Harmony a few weeks ago. We eat all our meals in the Windjammer-it just fits our vacation lifestyle better.

I have to agree about the offerings, tho. We're used to a huge salad bar and Harmony's was very scaled down. Some lettuce, 2 types of cheese, some other stuff. We could tell they were catering to the kids. Every lunch and dinner included chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, fries along with hot dogs & hamburgers. I think Taco fixings were available every day. While I don't mind offering a menu for the kids (there were A LOT), it left little room for other things and they too were a mixed bag of weirdness.

And some of the offerings were very odd. One day the soup choices were fish Broth or a pumpkin-cheese soup. I don't mind using leftovers to make Broth based soups but these were off the charts weird! A few times I saved bacon from breakfast and made my own BLT sandwiches.

We did eat in Chops one night. Our meal was cleared off before we were done eating!

We still had a great time.

Hi neighbor. My daughter just got off the Harmony yesterday. Their food was not good and the service was bad all around. She did not get to the Windjammer as her boyfriend would not go. No salads no greens just plain weird food and lots of issues with suppliers or whatever.

They went to the captains talk and he said the percentage of new workers on board (can't remember) = bad service.

They and others in their area on deck 11 had their door decorations stolen. Cabin steward said they were in a high crime area!! But nice weather. We are on the Odyssey next week so will be able to compare.

    Yes, tons of kids onboard.

  4. My daughter just got off the Harmony this am. She and some others in her hallway on deck 11 had their door decor stolen. Even the married couple next door that had their 60 yr anniv pictures stolen.

Her room steward said they were in "a high crime area". Central park!!!!! Hard to believe but anything can happen.

She was told to go to gs and describe the issues. She got a bottle of bubbly for her efforts.

She has not seen the usual bands of roving teens so can only guess what did happen.

We are on Odyssey next week so we will see what happens with the doors.

And your door decor is terrific. We always put decorations on our doors. Then can find our cabin down a long passage way.

Thank you for all the boarding rules, not our first rodeo but always good to know everything to make boarding go smoothly.

    Enjoy your cruise.

After that little elevator incident I think I'm sticking to the stairs from now on. I'd hate to end up in the brig...

I probably will cause everyone likes to run over or bump into a short older person who will talk loudly to them about them pushing me around. Nothing wrong with the brig onboard quiet, peaceful and 3 squares a day.

  7. I crossed the Atlantic on the S S France. Then I started sailing on the S S Norway in 1983 for about 9 cruises on her. The best ship ever. This year we are celebrating 50 years of cruising  and those Norway cruises were still the best.

Wonderful memories of those cruises in the "old days" and the best entertainment that they had even back then. The broadway shows in the Saga theatre. Probably did not get credit but do not care.  The experiences were priceless.

My information has been verified by several very highly placed plumbers that I met, on the Internet, and conversate with, often, that work on the ship, so don't doubt me.

From now on, each Icon Class Ship will be carrying a "Ship Stretcher" to accommodate the number of confirmed passengers.  If the ship is over booked, they can stretch it to accommodate and if the ship is less than full, they can shrink the ship accordingly, for fuel savings.  They've announced already that he "Ship Stretcher" will be co-located in the storage vault with the "Muffler Bearings".   No pictures or video is available, as yet.  I've heard that this information has also been verified on Wikipedia but I haven't found it.

Thank you for the great laughs you gave me with this post. Still laughing and will read whenever I need cheering up.

The food spread on CocoCay is far superior to Labadee.  There is room for improvement at Labadee without going full on theme park like PDCC.

But...  PDCC is a money printing machine.  Last weekend everything was sold out at PDCC except for the zip line.  PDCC has outperformed their wildest expectations.  It is inevitable that they will attempt to duplicate that success at other private destinations and number one on that list is Labadee.

HI: I am in awe of your photos. Can't believe Labadee now. We were last there maybe 2013 or 2014.

Will be back in Dec. Thank you for posting excellent pictures.

Apologies for a previous error, the ship was Endurance and not Endeavour.  The speaker was Mensun Bound, explorer and archeologist.  He led the group to find Shackleton's Endurance.

This evening's meal in Club Britannia this evening was good and after my altercation with the waiter the meal takes less than an hour rather two hours as previous.  A bit too quick but I'm not complaining!

A couple of snippets from Sunday's Daily programme.  A request for passengers not to punch a hole in their voyage/key card as it renders them useless.  Who would punch a hole in the microchip?  Where do these people come from?  I forgot to bring my punch!!  Secondly, US and Canadian citizens booking certain cruises onboard for 2022 and 2023 will have their tips/service charge paid.  The Rest of the World:  'Please go away'.

Off to hear the singer Jenny Williams in the Theatre.

We are on 7/1 and were hoping that Mensun Bound would be on our sailing. Very excited to hear about his experiences. Would be lovely if he would be on for the 7/1 sailing also. One can only hope.

Thank you for all your updates. Very much appreciated.

What on earth is gross about it? And why donate to shelters if the idea of reuse is gross? Sorry, I'm obviously missing something here.

Yes you are missing something. We do not wear washed repurposed slippers on a ship or hotel. And have not seen that happen yet so no issue there.

We only donate the slippers encased in plastic wrap that we receive onboard. We have no interest in wearing them so they go brand new to a shelter.

  12. Robes provided in our cabin on 5 other cruise lines we have sailed on are not for sale. They are reused. You can buy them in them in the gift shop or order from your room steward.

However, even the thought of washed reused slippers is so gross. Never seen a small size on any ship or a hotel room prior to sailing. Lots of donations to shelters from us.

Vette Princess, I too was watching the Queens departure from Port Everglades yesterday. Not only were the horn blasts magnificent, but seeing her decks crowded with passengers and crew was probably the best tonic a covid weary audience could imagine.

It's also very nice to hear from you after all this time, and I do understand completely why you stopped posting on the other thread. I wish you well and look forward to seeing more of your posts.

How nice to hear from you. We also watched her in Fort Lauderdale a couple of weeks ago. I even called Cunard to find out why. Of course the world cruise had to be canceled so they were doing some Caribbean itineraries.

If I remember correctly you do some gardening or tree planting? This am it was 21 degrees so a late spring=a shorter growing season.

We have done 3 cruises since Nov. How about you? We have the QM2 scheduled and then a Royal Caribbean one in Dec.

Have a Happy Healthy Easter from the artic tundra up here!
