  1. I hadn't realised there were so many Aussies on cruise critic.😉
  2. Now I promised another lot of possible private excursions for Newcastle Australia. This came about after I received an old photograph of myself in a plane in 1984. The plane is pictured in this first suggestion of a tour. This is the plane and it is still flying. And the web page is here with the desciption of the scenic flight. https://rnac.com.au/joy-flights/ Although it is the Royal Newcastle Aero Club it is actually the western suburb of Maitland where it is. The Hunter Valley is very scenic to fly over with the Hunter River, Lake Macquarie to the south, Port Stephens to the North and One of Australia's best wine regions to the west. Plus a stunning coast line. So a couple more options. https://huntervalleyscenicflights.com.au/ https://www.blueskyairways.com.au/scenic/ https://www.heliservices.com.au/flights/scenic-flights/ That last site has some stunning pictures. So posted just in case someone on the world cruise does like scenic flights.
  3. My email arrived nearly 5 hours ago in Australia but that was at 2am so i have only just opened it.
  4. And although I do look forward to meeting you next March I post for the others as well having noted like you some have declared themselves in this thread. I also had a reminder of times past recently so will put another post about Newcastle soon.
  5. Being of a suspicious mind I think it might be linked to this incident - https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/2927066-another-data-breach-mysilversea-reveals-random-peoples-details-and-different-each-time-i-log-in/page/4/
  6. Indeed he was very young. Just 4 days older than myself.
  7. The only South Pacific voyage listed are for the Silver Cloud. Though the classic fleet usually has a presence down under in the Northern Winter.
  8. Maybe lunch on the 17th. We are staying at the IC Jimbaran Bay which is not that far from the port. So maybe at the IC or nearby. but if Jannie is on board for the World cruise we would love to have him along as well. then he could pay for your taxi. Maybe even lunch aboard and we might run into Miss Vicki.
  9. Fully agree. There were some incredible shots in that collection.
  10. What happens when Singers found AI. Elvis is back in the building VID-20220917-WA0001(1).mp4
  11. I went on the ship's excursion so taken to the bus. There are some port officials and the 2 I heard had reasonable English. It shouldn't be hard to find. They also on SS have a local touris official come on board and they generally have maps available.
  12. Especially when Avis rents you a car with an empty tank and only 20 miles range left. So they tell you that you can bring it back empty. Ended up perfectly as when I drove it back into the Avis lot there was only 4 miles left.
  13. Basically how I get out of a tub. Turn sideways. brace my feet against the far side then raise my backside onto the rim and then easy to sing the legs over.
  14. Still showing for me but the pictures are from my Iphone which can do strange things such as the lst picture for me being sideways. This is from my computer but on my Iphone the pictures are just a question mark. Might have to repost in the morning.
  15. Today we had one of the best lunches in many years. Great food and fantastic service with an Australian flair. When Aussies are good they are very very good. The restaurant was Moo Moo at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. So the restaurant. We started by sharing a half dozen oysters Kilpatrick. The bacon was minced which gave the topping a much better flavour and texture. To top it off the oysters were from Boomer Bay which we sampled when we went to Van Bone restaurant near by in Tasmania. I would say the best Kilpatrick oysters I have had. We both decided on 2 entrees having eaten here before. The steaks are superb but too filling now. Your appetite decreases with age. So Rojaan started with carpaccio. She loved it. I went with a dish I had before. The bang bang duck. It comes like this - The duck meat is then shredded at the table. And then added to the salad which consists of Shimeji, Cucumber, Garlic Shoots, Chilli Shredded Salad + Bang Bang Dressing. The duck is a little dry so the dressing is a must. I will possibly have it again when we come back. So the rest of the meal. Rojaan had the veal bone marrow with roasted onions and toast. I had the waygu steak entree. Kyushu Satsuma Waygu MB 12+ which is cooked at the table on a hot rock. Here is the plate initially and the meat being cooked. Comes with Miso Bearnaise, Yuzu Gel + Charred Shallot. And the finished dish. great skill having it rare cooking it this way. Really melt in your mouth stuff. And here is what we thought of those 2 dishes. We had dessert so Rojaan chose the The Apple which is an apple tart with White Chocolate Mousse, Apple & Mint Compote. Again she loved it. I went with the cheese and had a Tin Tin washed rind soft cheese from the Adelaide hills and a Shropshire blue from Nottinghamshire.. It was beautifully presented. We washed that all down with a Wineglass Bay Sav blanc from Tasmania. Our waiter was excellent. friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Credit must go to management as the wait staff have regular training days with tasting of the dishes so they know about them all. We did ask a couple of questions and it was fantastic not to be told hang on I will just go and ask the chef. And we gave him a lot of info about Tasmania where he would really like to go. He would be a stand out at any restaurant down there. So if anyone finds them self staying on Queensland's Gold Coast then this place is worth considering for a meal.
  16. Another who definitely prefers a tub. With very little balance showers can be dangerous.
  17. When I cook the steak the fries don't have enough time to get cold! I love hot rocks. My steak is always cooked perfectly just as the cook and I like it.😉
  18. When we have been through Athens it has always been a change over day so transit passengers usually given an excursion. On our last cruise on the Moon only 18 transit passengers and only 2 didn't take the excursion so there was no shuttle.
