We're looking at September 2018!
-
Prices are great to cruise out of Baltimore in January.
How long does it take for the temp to warm up? What kind of hiccups are encountered when it snows prior to the cruise or after?
-
If the price goes down in line with the Pride we will probably try it eventually. We would love if they added Bermuda to a longer 7/8 night cruise or just a straight 7-day Bermuda cruise.

I agree! I have not tried the Vista bc it was so expensive being brand new. We're only trying the horizon bc it's our 10yr anniversary and the timing and departure port just work out so perfectly for us. Hoping to go on a 7/8 Vista cruise in 2019, perhaps the prices will be lower then.

They all have the tour to my knowledge. Space is limited so you need to sign up for it the moment you get on board to secure your spot.
I had not realized there was a price difference from ship to ship. When I got on the Breeze I went to book but they told me it was $95 and I decided not to do it. They also said it was like 6hrs long on the last sea day and I didn't want to spend so much of my last sea day doing that.

I've never seen any animals on the lounge chairs.
I've also never seen any effort by any crew member to enforce the time limit of saved chairs. I totally get that it can be difficult to police and that it's not a perfect system. I'd just be happy if I saw a little effort.

Does anyone have an opinion on the first half of the question? When would you think I should book by? I'm thinking 1yr out?

I totally understand just having time for a 4 day. My BFF and I booked this cruise because it was 4 days, over a weekend and we can't wait to be on this ship. We wanted to try the Havana Rooms. I have never been to Bermuda, but I can always go on another cruise another time to see Bermuda.

My thoughts exactly. I plan to do a 7 day Bermuda someday but really am most interested in seeing the Horizon before it leaves NYC!
-
You could just do the deposit now. Final payment will be two months before sail date so you will need to commit about then or really gamble on it selling out. Read all the details on the type of booking some allow you to benefit from price drops. If you want a particular cabin, book now. Later you get what is available.
Enjoy!
I was thinking about that but we did something similar when I was pregnant thinking it’d be easy to take the baby before he walks. Well, we had a colicky one and he was walking WAYYYY earlier than he should so we canceled and lost our deposit. =(

On a 4 day cruise, you only have 1 day in Bermuda which i think is not enough time in that port and i think carnival prices is crazy for a short cruise. Much cheaper to book a competitor like NCL that does a 7 day cruise with 3 days in Bermuda. NCL also leaves out of NYC.
I’m really not interested in NCL. I live near Boston so Iknow lots of people who have gone out of there and just didn’t love it. Also, our son will be 2 and it’ll be the first time we are leaving him. 4 days is themax amount of time we want to leave him for the first time.
-
We’re pretty certain we want to book the 4 Day Bermuda cruise on the Horizon in Sept. 2018. It’ll be our 10 year anniversary trip and our son will be 2 by that time. So, we figure we’ll feel comfortable leaving him with grandparents for a short time.
Anyway, I’m not ready to book this instant (DH is slow to pull the trigger on anything in life) but I am concerned with the Horizon being a new ship and all that it may sell out.
When would you think I should book by? Do you think it’llsell out?

Never done this! We always do YTD though and have never had a problem getting 2 of anything. One cruise I went with m Aunt and she is sooooo indecisive that she literally got 2 of all 2 courses each night lol.
-
Does anyone know which ships and types of staterooms have trundle beds? I didn't know these existed and feel like they might work best for a child. I'd like to bring my son on his first cruise when he turns 3.

We LOVE the Dream class. Breeze is our favorite, as we have been on her twice. Going on the Magic in 38 days!!!! However, we did cruise on the Pride a few years back, and loved the layout of the ship. Granted, it's not as big as the Dream class, but the overall "layout" is AWESOME!!!! Haven't been on her since her 2.0 upgrades, but have heard she's AWESOME!!!! The one thing we hated, was the décor. She's a very DARK ship. Think Night at the Museum. lol. Once we got past that, we were good.
Would definitely sail on her again, if she gets away from the crappy Bahamas itineraries. lol
Although, HMC is worth the trip in itself. Heaven. On. Earth. lol
Enjoy!!!!!!!
I agree HMC is awesome! I've only been once but can't wait to go back! I've seen some pics of the decor and it's.....interesting. :p

So normally I'd say book aft (because that's where the dining is) but Camp Carnival (or I think it's getting the Camp Ocean make over now or soon) is all the way forward.
The mid ship pool is certainly the noisier one - they have either a band, DJ or concert playing on the big screen and blue iguana and guy's are basically right at the edge of that area - makes for high traffic. The forward pool is less noisy and crowded - be aware that smoking is on the starboard side of that pool (but the port side has no smoking).
Good to know, thanks! If the smoking is too much for myself and the little one we'll just have to suck it up and go to the noisier pool. I can always enjoy the serenity area while he's in camp ocean!

Hi Brepri_H,
The first couple days the Venus main pool was enclosed and very busy. Everyone that wanted sun went to the Apollo and I noticed they did the activities at the main pool. The main pool also had Guy's and the Blue Iguana taco bar traffic as well.
Thank you! Enjoyingthe review!

Of the 2 pools that are not adult only which seems to be quieter? The Venus Main Pool or the Forward Apollo Pool?

I never found the incentive great enough to book on board anyway.

True, and we'll be leaving our 4 year old behind next February and maybe this will help me decide at that time what we'll do, but when you check on your child....then what? It's not as if you can go back. I'm not trying to be snarky, legit asking and maybe it's piece of mind but what if they're simply just being a handful...now that's on your mind during the trip.
LOL valid point! It'll be the first time I leave him though so I guess peace of mind! It'll be our 10yr anniversary cruise and by that point it'll be 2yrs 7 months since our last cruise. We already need it lol. We are splitting the time between 2 sets of grandparents so even if he is a handful I won't feel too guilty. ;);p

Parkjockey list's parking from $20/day about a 5-10 minute walk to the port.
I didn't know about parkjockey. I will keep it in mind! Much cheaper for a 1/2 mile walk!
-
One of the best parts of the cruise was no phone! I'd advise against anything other than the $5 Hub access to keep up with those friends/family that are on the ship with you.
Normally I would agree but I'm leaving my 2yr. old with grandparents for a 4 day cruise. I have to check on him.
-
I haven't sailed yet, but I'm planning to do the social media one. I will check my email in port at night, twice - even for the international overages it won't be $16/day.
I hope you'll let us know how you like that package!
-
If you have purchased a wifi package while on board which one did you get and how was the connection? Do you think it was worth the money?
I am looking at the social media one to stay connected to family as it includes messenger so I think it'll suffice. Is the premium plan really that much faster?
What is your favorite desert on Carnival?

When it is cooked properly, the chocolate melting cake. A few times it was under and other was like soup. Yuck.
