1. Pull the TV from the side furthest away from the couch. So if window, bed then couch then door. Face TV and pull (quite hard) from the left hand side.

If window, couch then bed, pull from the right.

Had just figured it out as you said SausPud. Bit of a leapof faith because the TV mounting was creaking on the wall. Turned out I had to lift the TV by a half inch to unhook and pull out.

So, anyway, I can confirm that avi, and mp4 play fine from USB port. The USB port is not facing you after you pull the TV out, it's facing away at the other end of the TV. A mirror or your phone camera in selfie mode will help locate.

On insertion of USB stick the TV picks it up automatically but if you go back to ordinary TV you'll need a universal remote or smartphone remote app to select USB as source.

  2. Yes, that's it! Just throw it in your carry-on and not your "checked" bag and you're fine.

But you shouldn't have to avoid the "checked" bag - that's the point. The rules don't allow extension cords which should only apply to those extension power strips with a cable off them, not adaptors which this is.

The issue is you can not bring an extension cord. Power strips that have the extension cord built in may be confiscated.

    as above.

  3. What about taking the money you would use for the drink package and purchasing OBC for the same amount, still no worries about what you are spending, could have a refund at end of cruise.

or you could have an extra bill if you drink more - so you would have to worry about your spending. That's why people get the package sometimes - to absolutely know that there is no surprise at the end.

  4. It's highly unlikely that you will drink as much if you don't have the package. So even people that figure they beat the package by "paying as you go" only beat it on the basis of what they drank - not on the basis of what they would have drank :)

Even down to coffees and freshly squeezed orange juice with the ultimate package - even aside from the alcohol you'll drink more of, you'll get more of those premium coffees than you would if you were going drink by drink. It stands to reason - paying by the drink there are going to be times you'll say "Ahh, it's not worth shelling out another $4 for a coffee again" - when you have the package you won't even think about it any more!

Buy it and enjoy it! Buy it and enjoy the fact that you'll drink more, not because you feel you have to, but because you'll suddenly realise you want to! :D

  5. The usb ports are in reach and I successfully watched tv shows I had downloaded to much usb drive. This was on Anthem.

Ahh. I concentrated on hooking up my tablet via hdmi and never thought to stick content on a usb key and use the usb ports.

    Lesson learnt. Thanks kimprice.

    Still does beg the question:

If you're going to sit in your cabin and watch TV, why are you paying thousands of dollars to do so when you can sit in the comfort of your home and do that for free?

I don't mean this to be an offensive or obnoxious comment.

I just think that it's one thing to put on the TV while you're getting ready and another to put on a movie or show that will keep you in front of the set for an hour or so.

I found at the end of a night that it was quite relaxing to watch some tv shows sometimes. There may be a lot to do on Quantum/Anthem but not all of the time.

  6. I will reply as just returned and the OP has left the conversation.

There are no visible or accessible ports to use on the TV. It is on a hinge to angle it out so the TV is visible from the couch, but the sockets are located on the hinge side and not reachable by hand or otherwise.

On the Quantum Maiden TA I tried to connect my tablet via HDMI (which required some gymnastic movements to access the rear). To no avail, I could get a picture up (using an ir remote on my mobile phone to select the HDMI input) but no sound (and hdmi should carry both).

Also tried a chromecast like dongle - but not one that requires access to the internet, one of the one's that creates it's own local wifi signal allowing your tablet to connect to that wifi zone and stream video locally from your android device. To no avail.

It's last November now so I just can't recall why I gave up but I remember being very disillusioned that I couldn't solve it.

Maybe they have relaxed things since. Will try again when I'm on Anthem in October!

  7. Capt Srecko mentioned the same numbers during the maiden TA (max list we had was about 3%) - that didn't make a lot of folks who normally handle rough seas well feel any better. The numbers don't tell the whole story - the kind of movement (not the size) she has just doesn't agree with some folks.

And when I was on that maiden TA during the rough weather I was kinda hoping it would list a bit more, Quantum seemed too damned stable to me! Funny when the plates in the Windjammer went flying though!

  8. Can anyone with experience please give me some insight into this category. What are the pros and cons please. Any photos?

    Thanks

Are you referring to the E1?

I posted some pics when I was on Quantum.

They are included somewhere in this thread:

I liked it shape wise compared to the normal D cabins. But when I booked it was slightly cheaper than the D cabins - now it seems to be dearer sometimes. I wouldn't pay more for it. It's simply a different shaped D!

  9. How do they monitor the 2 bottle per stateroom limit? If the 2 occupants board at separate times with wine in their carry on, could they get in with 4 bottles?

Not even being a wine drinker, this did occur to me :p

If there are 2 of you, do they "assign" the 2 bottles when you are checking in so the other one of you will be caught if they board with another 2? :D

  10. Yes it is Cafe@270 it was our first stop when we boarded...

Had them on the Quantum maiden transatlantic. Wow. A lot won't agree with me on this, but I like the beef a little but more well done and hot, and the chef always put some of the beef on the grill pan for me to cook it a little more and scalding hot! Yum!

  11. Thanks-- and I have seen the information for question #1, but it also states this on the website:

Q: How can I purchase the all-inclusive package?

A: You may purchase a package before you sail, online at RoyalCaribbean.com/PreCruisePlanner. Or you may purchase it onboard, on the first day of your cruise. Ask at any bar for more information, or look out for a table setup promoting the packages once you board.

Yep, all they are saying is that you CAN purchase it on the first day of your cruise. But you can purchase it on the 2nd, 3rd etc day as well once there are 4 days left. I certainly have seen them on sale on board during a cruise and there is NO WAY anyone would purchase them if they were not prorated - they are just about worth purchasing in the first place - no-one could make them worth the cost if they paid full whack in the middle of a cruise.

  12. For question 1, yes you can order during the cruise and pay for ALL of the REMAINING days. You don't have to pay for all the days you haven't used or there would be no point in them putting a 4 day limit in the first place. :)

From RCCL website (badly written but how and ever)

For question 2, anytime I've seen all inclusive packages offered, the small print has always said that you can upgrade onboard. You just pay the extra.

  13.
Some travel agents will reduce the perks they offer you since the perks come out of their commissions.
Hi reallyitsmema, I suppose that seems logical.

I'm not convinced by their authority to reduce a certificate value though (but I would say that wouldn't I :) )
  14. Hi, quick question - I have a "future cruise certificate" for Royal which I got following Quantum maiden - my UK travel agent tells me that they deduct the value of their commission that they lose by me using this voucher. Sure enough, the voucher does state to the travel agent that their commission is based on the "after voucher" price of the cruise.

But are they allowed to pass their reduction in commission onto me?
  15. So, is a cabin with a sofa bed (sleeping 3) still the same size as a cabin without a sofa bed (sleeping 2)?

And assuming the cabins are the same size, if the sofa bed is not "opened" does it take up any more room than a standard sofa?

    Thanks. :)

  16. Hi ~My friend was not in 12644 on my sailing in Nov but is on with me in April. The cabin door was open so took a photo of the cabin for her. Did not get a look at the view but for me the larger angled balcony would be my choice.

I am used to aft facing balconies so I was quite happy sitting on the left corner of my balcony looking towards the side of the ship aft and enjoying the view

    Thanks Emmy!

  17. Hi Emmy

I see you were in 12648 with the big angle balcony and your friend was in 12644 which, while not a big angle, seems to be more in line with the hump - did that give her a better "each way" view (albeit with smaller balcony)? In other words, if the view each way is more important than the balcony which would you pick?

    Thanks!

    Hi Emmy

Did you see my question earlier on? Any help appreciated!!

  18. Coincidentally a friend is in 12644 on my April sailing and her cabin was open during turnover day and I did take these photos. Your bed is by the bathroom with a closet on either side of the bed with couch by the balcony. I liked this set up as it was the same as mine was 12648.
