  1. No worries...I've been to NY numerous times and have yet to find a $25 steak via room service anywhere...so I question the info in original post. In fact...on a recent trip...a simple sandwich and soup lunch was $25 for room service. Beverage was extra.

For a good steak - 16 oz - you'd be looking at $45 - $60 numerous places. I'd follow you're path and enjoy it at those prices.

    My thoughts exactly!

  2. I don't have any feeling of being crowded on this ship, it's extra size matches the extra people.

The lines for north star are a symptom of 2 things - the weather on the Atlantic which has closed it down every second day and simply not giving people a ticket with a number so you can take a ticket, judge the wait and wander around and come back.

Or a simple reservation system like iFly.

  3. In all fairness, the queue for Guest Relations on Liberty last month was as long as that most of the time!

WOW. I though $25 for Room Service steak at a hotel in Times Square was expensive, I don't particularly want to spend $53 on a steak

I hear you. All the other steaks are included in the $35. Only extra for the dry aged usda certified. And it is a 16oz that's a big piece of meat, for me anyway! So I wanted to experience what they advertised as the best. And I don't regret that $53 at all!

  4. Wondering if the "always available" menu items like steak/chicken breast are offered in any of the Quantum's restaurants.

Well, American icon restaurant has a flank steak which I've heard was good, but seriously, if you can, have the 16oz dry aged steak in chops grille, pricey but I'm still dreaming of it. If you really like steak you have to go for this. (18$ on top of $35 cover. But it was that good.

  5. Anyone who goes on the ship for the first several cruises should go expecting glitches and readjustments in procedures as RCI works out the kinks on Quantum.

I'm sure that there will be those who want to bitch about everything but I personally would tend to discount those complaints and chalk most of the problems up to growing pains and tend to disregard the complainers.

Exactly. I'm on board and expected to see teething problems. But I did complain about out of date beer. Only a month out but hey, how did it get in a new ship!

  6. Thanks for the pics. In the rough seas did the clothes moving around in the closet bother you while you were trying to sleep? I know I've been able to hear closet noises from across the room before, so I am a little worried about them right next to my head.

One night I took the hangers out for that reason but the clothes were still in the suitcase due to late nights in the bar. Come to think of it, they still are [emoji12]

  7. If the total square footage is 177 square feet and the cabin is 81 square feet... That makes the bathroom 96 square feet? :o

We are booked for an E1 too. Might be interesting. Is there a wider balcony door or an extra window (besides the door) facing the extra wide balcony? Just wondered. Thanks for sharing the pix.

Good point. I've looked again, still with no ruler. At best, if you include the recessed closets and pillow space on bed it's 12x12 with another max 7x3 for bathroom. The balcony is probably 12x6.5.

  8. Podgeandrodge: Thanks for confirming your cabin #. That is our cabin on the Dec 1st sailing and it is disappointing not to have a sofa. Just one more question please since it is obvious that Royal information is not accurate: can the bed be separated into twin beds or is it actually a double bed that belongs in the studio cabins? Thanks again.

Nextcruiseis, I think its able to go into twin beds. Not absolutely sure, but looks like 2 beds underneath, just don't want to pull them apart.

  9. Hi, I'm the poster from the E1. Just to say, while there is only the single seat there is still the seat and desk. My mate has a D cabin and we absolutely agree that both categories have their own merits. He has the sofa, I have a much wider cabin but not as long, which I prefer.

The cabin excluding bathroom is approximately 9 foot by 9 foot.

Here's the photos I posted in no particular order. Don't panic, unless you NEED a sofa the E1 is a great room!

  10.

Thanks for the pictures ! With a larger 82 sq ft balcony what type of chairs did you have ? Do you hang clothes in the closet next to the bed ?Thanks again! :D

Podgeandrodge: Do you mind sharing your cabin #? We have booked an E1 and the deck plan description states there is a sofa (not a sofabed) and not just one chair. Thanks!

podgeandrodge: Do these rooms even have a closet to clothes in?

Balcony pic as wide an angle as I could get:

Only one chair no sofabed in mine, 7654 by the way but it should be identical to 7658 and the others on deck 6.

2 closets as in earlier pic, one on each side of bed.

As mentioned before, I prefer the E1 to the D's but it's width versus length so each to their own.

In respect of size, I haven't got a tape, but the E1 excluding bathrooms is about 9 foot by 9 foot ie square room.

  11. View from E1 cabin on 7th

Thanks for the picture! Do you have any of an E1 inside showing the layout?

I have booked these rooms on three different cruises! Thanks!

Podgeandrodge what room did you take the balcony photo from? We will be in 6658 on deck 6 and I have been concerned with what kind of obstruction we will have and your room seems to be in a similar area just on deck 7.

Pics of E1 cabin for those who asked.

Scott, in relation to 6658, as I look over it. My guess is that you are 100% clear looking straight out at the ocean, and pretty much clear out to the left with the exception of a small vessel that may impact a tiny bit. Looking to the right you have a lifeboat which blocks view that direction, or you may get able to see slightly over it. So, obstruction wise, it wouldn't bother me, plenty of ocean to look at!

  12. Actually the fries on the Adventure were fantastic - hot and very tasty. Hoping the same will be found on the Quantum next year.

Had fries in windjammer yesterday, and rated them better than Johnny rocketts, they were fresh and hot, (note - skinny fries not thicker fries like rocketts).

Also, had a great minute steak in windjammer yesterday, v.good quality for windjammer.

  13. I am surprised to hear a complaint about the speed of the Internet during the crossing. We have a friend on board who has been emailing regularly, and who has also been on other cruises, and she is just shocked at how fast the Internet is compared to other shipboard Internet. She also said that it will get even better once it approaches America, but nonetheless is very impressed by the speeds they've been having.

Yes, I am on board and speed is excellent compared to other cruises, I have Skyped regularly with perfect quality. Don't know about the switch on of the new Internet, but very happy with unlimited for 2 people for 8 nights for $230.
