  1. Are espadrilles still popular there? Would they work well?
  2. We went shopping today and we were successful in buying everything we still had on our list (clothing wise), except a pair of white sandals that are dressy enough for dinner in a nice dress, but comfortable enough to walk the streets of Rome (and other Italian cities) long enough to walk to a restaurant and maybe do a little shopping. Not something I’d tour in all day. I plan to bring my Brooks and Birkenstocks for major walking. Edited to add: good arch support is a must for my high arches.
  3. Does Albergo del Senato have an iron in room or offer ironing services?
  4. I may look into it this summer. I'm too busy during the school year. We don't need another credit card. We put all our purchases on the ones we get air miles for, mostly the Sapphire Reserve.
  5. No, I had not considered this. I hate the thought of dealing with opening a new account and moving funds around, but it's something to consider. Our Sapphire card doesn't charge foreign transaction fees. We will use it for everything except cash withdraws from our WF account. We get triple points on that card for all travel related purchases. We will have an alternate cc with us just in case something would happen to that card.
  6. It looks like WF just charges a flat fee of $5.00 for debit card ATM withdraws. We will use our Sapphire Card for purchases.
  7. Marina Grande looked perfect but appears to be fully booked already.
  8. Too late to change my original post, but it should have said food tour not good tour. 🤦🏼‍♀️
  9. I know some of our excursions require cash.
  10. My friend gave me a beautiful scarf I plan to bring for churches, if needed. Our plan is to travel there with carry on and then maybe purchase a suitcase or backpack to bring home new purchases. I’ve already “warned” him that I plan to do some shopping.
  11. We have the Pearl booked Athens to Venice this summer. What themed nights should we expect? Do they have a white party? Will the men need long pants for the restaurants? I plan to bring dresses/skirts since it will be so warm so I’m not worried about myself. (We have 10 nights in Italy pre-cruise) I know dh is planning on brining one pair of long pants to enter the churches and such, mostly while staying in Rome. Is one pair sufficient for him. We’re going to attempt to do all carry on for the first time! I’m hoping they will have a silent disco. They are SO fun!!
  12. Thank you! Thought so but it’s been so long since I did all my research.
  13. We have booked everything for our 3 weeks vacation this summer except dinners. Tours, transfers and ship excursions. We are starting with 5 nights in Rome. We have a good tour planned one night and are going to try to get reservations at Armando Al Pantheon and my dh has a reminder set to book as soon as reservations open. Should we make other reservations? One day we have a day trip to Tuscany and will get back late. Should we make any reservations for our 3 nights in Amalfi. I wouldn’t like our hotel’s restaurant, it’s too “fancy” for my taste. I do want to have at least one water front meal. Would that require a reservation? No idea where I’d want to go. Our one night in Naples we will most likely do pizza. Then it’s off to Athens for a couple nights pre-cruise. Not sure what we’re doing in Venice yet. We’ve booked Doge’s Palace and plan to do a gondola ride. Not sure what else. We have a full two days there, fly home early afternoon on the third.
  14. How many cash would you suggest for 3 weeks in Europe?
  15. We’re booked at Albergo Del Senato. I don’t recall, do they have an elevator? They do have A/C, right? No pool but does have a roof top bar, I believe.
  16. We ended up booking with Get Your Guide. Thanks!
  17. Seems easier than dealing with luggage with all the moving around we will be doing. Also, don’t really want to wait around the airport for it or risk losing it. Also, we would have to pay for the extra bag on our flight to Athens. I’m tall, and my husband will be traveling with me, so lifting my bag won’t be an issue. Yes and more than likely we will have a checked bag on the return home for all my purchases. Lol We are flying from Clt-JFK, JFK-FCO with a 7 hour layover. We have lounge access with our credit card so it shouldn’t be too bad. We have 4 AirTags for the bags we’re planning on taking and will buy more if needed. I will check out the price of Clarins there. I use several of their products.
  18. It's a bit expensive though and I would have the same issue on the return flights.
  19. Great! That will eliminate the need for several products. I do. My skincare is all Clarins. Will do! Good idea!
  20. Thanks for sharing! I do wear contacts so this is extremely helpful! Most of my skin care products are on the pricy side so I wouldn’t want to purchase them there and toss them out before coming home. But, toothpaste, cleanser and my husband’s shampoo could easily be purchased anywhere. I will check out those containers. That must have been terribly disappointing! Unfortunately , I’m not leaking money out of any orifice! Lol I wasn’t planning on purchasing necessities in Amalfi. We will be in Rome several days prior so we could buy anything left behind there. I was wondering about getting a blow out so I wouldn’t need to bring any liquid hair products. Is that a thing there. On my last couple of cruises I got them so I didn’t have to mess with it. I assume aerosols count as liquids too, like dry shampoo. I’m sure that would be easy to purchase there. Thanks for the links! I will check them out.
  21. I did a "practice pack" using only my carry-on and personal item. I was quite shocked to find I can fit everything in those two bags for nearly a month in Europe. However, I don't think I could possibly get all my girly products there in a 1-qt. bag. (serums, face wash, lotions, cleanser, liquid foundation, cleansing balm, hair products, etc.) If that would be the only reason to check a bag, what could I easily buy there instead? Hotel shampoo/conditioner is a no go because my hair is highlighted so I'm very picky about hair products. Is it easy to find a place for a blow out in Rome and/or Amalfi? I don't mind leaving my hair products behind if so, because I only wash once per week anyway. However, dips in the Mediterranean will change that. Now if dh can't do the same, we may check a bag and this won't be an issue. We will most likely need to buy something cheap to get new purchases home so for the return flight this won't be an issue. Edited to add: Looking for suggestions for good containers for these products that won't leak
  22. Because the boat tours make stops where we can get in and swim for a bit. I watched a video where a lady said it was the best day they had on the Amalfi Coast but I can’t find it again, nor do I recall who she used. Would you get the same view from the ferries?
