  1. We were flying in 2 days before a cruise out of Miami. It was an early evening flight to Fort Meyers because we were stopping to say hi to some friends. The flight took off 2 hours late and only made it to Nashville because of a fuel pump problem. Hung around in a closed Nashville airport for hours. Finally a flight from DFW  arrived and the plane and crew were shanghaied to take us to Fort Meyers.    When we got to RSW, the pilot tried landing twice but bailed out due to fog. We diverted to Miami and after deplaning in MIA were told your flight is now canceled. This was at 6 AM.    After dealing with an angry mob of passengers. the still sleepy station manager ordered a bus to take everybody to Fort Meyers.    I talked to the manager and was able to get a room in Miami and spent a wasted Saturday in a hotel.  We get spoiled by living near O'Hare and having a lot of flight options, but no longer take  evening flights out.

Never understood the laundry need. We just wash any of the clothes we need and hang them to dry after we've "towel dried them." I guess we just don't feel comfortable having strangers touching our "stuff," personal and otherwise:)

Try going out on ships for more than 14 consecutive days and your perspective might change.    We plan on using the wash n fold instead of washing smelly undergarments in the sink. You can only  pack so much when flying in.

That's really interesting.  We've been on all three and find them far more similar than different, to the point that I pretty much consider them equal.  The "amping" that Royal Caribbean is doing to them is making them different right now because some are amped and some not, but at some point soon all three will be amped and very similar again.

Just curious why you like the Freedom over the Liberty over the Indy?

The Indy just has a totally different vibe to it, though Joff was good. Maybe because it was across the pond so much.  Might have been the home port or itineraries that led me to book/like Freedom.  I won't book anything out of Galveston until they fix the rental car options.  Certainly don't like the taking of public space and turning it into cabins that is happening nowadays.

It all starts with having to drag your carry on luggage to a lunch spot along with the thousands of other passengers. We ended up eating hot dogs, only open seats we could find.

Check the carry on in before you board.  Or,  Royal will also take your carry once aboard and will deliver it to your cabin. It's called The Key, but it is a daily fee, which also includes lunch on boarding day in a reserved space.

Imagine a cruise where no one saved chairs more than to get a drink or go to the bathroom or go back to the room to get something. Imagine how everyone would easily be able to find a chair whenever they walked up to the pool deck. Imagine how happy everyone would be when they realized that there really are enough chairs for everyone.

    Cue the music....

I stand corrected. It was my cruise on Anthem in August 2017 when I attempted to trade my Harmony band in. Sorry - too many cruises to keep the facts perfectly straight. But glad to have a fact checker to straighten me out :-)

So to be exact... I got my Wowband on Anthem in March 2016. Traded it on Harmony in Dec 2016, attempted to trade that band on Anthem in Aug 2017 and it was a no go.

You have to spend it on the ship.

Just go to the casino and put in your SeaPass card and add money to the slot machine via the room charge option.  Hit cashout on the slot machine and redeem the ticket.  Instant cash.  Take that home and pay off the credit card that you used to purchase all your stuff on the Cruise Planner before the cruise.

    They don't charge a 5% surcharge for that ?

Be sure to book all your shows as soon as they appear in your cruise planner.  One oddity of Oasis class is that other then up on deck there is almost no view of the ocean from anywhere inside the ship. Love the mega ships. happy cruising

We're on the same voyage, which is 109 days out. I've been unable to access the entertainment in the cruise planner since booking, so I'm assuming that they have closed off reserving show times until we get onboard.  In that case a trip to the box office right after boarding is probably prudent.

VIGOR built (had built) a 960 footer in 14

    https://vigor.net/news-press/countrys-largest-floating-drydock-coming-to-portland

"The drydock was constructed by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries in Jiangsu Province, China, and is being delivered to Portland aboard the Blue Marlin, a semi-submersible heavy lift ship owned by Dockwise Ltd. "

It was built in sections and shipped in sections for final assembly on site.

$50,000,000 sounds pretty cheap. Royal and Carny have it

So sorry to hear about Penelope's injury.  That is a long rehab.  I will likely not even meet the Diamond Concierges.  Our "happy hour" is in the Imperial lounge at the back of the ship.  I was packed last night.  There was not a single seat.  We went for a little while and then hit the Schooner bar.

They had staff at the door to check sea pass cards.  But, I do not see how there will be any interaction with the concierge.

Yes, we are very happy with our cabin.  The location is good.

Thanks for adding your experience regarding embarkation.  We would have planned to arrive at 2-3pm if we had known.

You must have had a good time last night. The Imperial Lounge is forward, not aft.:classic_blink:
