  1. the $35 pp bid sounds okay. I wish I could, would, had the money to go for the highest suite, but I don't, won't, can't do that- my husband would shoot me.
  2. as said, do you want the balcony or a larger bathroom and cabin space. I take the larger cabin/bathroom - $120.00 is a great price
  3. Harrah's Rincon Casino in northern San Diego county The offer was a certificate, you call the number and you chose which cruise line you want to go with Holland America or Princess. Since we have been on 15 cruises with Princess, we currently get better offers than the certificate, but we wanted to try Holland America,. We are only Diamond members with Harrah's so our offer was only an interior cabin for free, no added perks and no play money This certificate was the way we started with Princess years ago
  4. Wanted to give an update of my conversation with Holland America casino rep I called this morning and the call was "in america" and I got a real nice women. I told her I had the certificate that I received from the land based casino. She took info from me and then told me that the offer was for an inside cabin, up to 12 days long (no more) and certain holiday periods were not available. So I gave her a date for a 7 night cruise and asked how much if we wanted to upgrade from an inside to balcony the cruise is out of San Diego. Inside cabin cost on the Holland website is $699 per person. If we took it we would pay $255 for port taxes each person, $99 each for the travel insurance each.. Upgrading to a oceanview would be $50 each, or balcony $150 each. So total for balcony using the free inside certificate would cost $948 - pay up front, same as Princess, but Princess requires a $200 each deposit, given back once on board the ship as OBC. Holland does not require a deposit, and if we cancel we lose 10% of the total amount paid - $94.80 We leave next week on a Princess cruise, but when we get back I will be booking our first Holland America cruise.
  5. log into your account. go down the screen where it allows you to book excursions, dining, beverage packages and "bid upgrade" click on the bid box, put in your last name, then your booking number and it will show your bids. You can cancel, or click to make a new bid, either for the same category or a different one if available.
  6. Sorry about your father's stroke - hope he will recover. My understanding about the $200 deposit with a casino booking - it is not refundable. Even though you got the insurance, the deposit is not covered by that. I have been told that everytime I book a casino trip - the deposit is not refundable. Sorry if the reps did not relie that info to you. I would still call the casino department and try to get the refund, since you were given the wrong info at the time of booking.
  7. The overall theme of this thread is: The medallion is suppose to be used when charging anything on board the ship - when you order the drink, you should not have to provide your cabin number verbally, it should pick up the info off your medallion. Problem - medallion is not working correctly and information is not getting applied correctly by the drink server. Not a problem when you have the plus package, but is a problem if you do not. We will not have the drink package on our next cruise and I will check our account daily to make sure we are not being charged for someone elses drinks. I should not have to do that.
  8. the hard part is keeping track of what you are closing out on your machine. land casinos you get a piece of paper that you feed into the next machine on the ships you go to a new machine and pull up your account and take out what funds you want to play on that machine. Know what you have
  9. The last full day on the cruise (not the day arriving at the port to debark) - you will receive a "come back and play" offer based on the points you earned on the cruise. So if you have a budget for playing - play your budget and play nothing on the last full day, those points will not go towards your offer on the final day.
  10. when you charge the amount you want to play on your machine, it goes against your cabin account, and yes your OBC will be used to pay it. ie: You have OBC of $200, you go to the casino and ask for $200 to play on the machine. Your cabin account will show zero owed. The little screen where you have to sign in everytime you play on a machine will show your account balance. This screen is also where your points are shown and where you charge more money on your cabin account if you need more money - which is 100% of the time.
  11. my last email to them I never got a response
  12. Our offers are not as good either, and this is after doing 7 cruises in the past 18 months. We have a cruise in 3 weeks and if our come back and play is not a free cabin, plus package, and free play money we will not book either. We have a free cabin offer from Holland America, and we are planning to book something for next year, and then we will see what they offer. Crusing may be on hold for awhile with us.
  13. thank you for your detailed info. we are planning to book a cruise with Holland with a casino land based certificate. Free inside, nothing else, but it gets on board. Will see what offers we get after. Would love to use for their Alaska cruises, like some I have seen.
  14. Make sure when you cash out of your machine, do not get up and leave until you get the message on the screen that your money has been posted to your account. You need to keep track of your money in your account. If you start off with a $100, play $20, cash out, make sure that you have $80 in your account when you leave that machine. We have had several times where it did not go back to the account and was still sitting on that machine.
  15. haven't been able to get any responses regarding Holland America, so hopefully this topic will generate some responses Princess: on the final day before docking, casino players receive a "come back and play" offer slipped under the door based on the casino play for that cruise. Does Holland America do this and can you provide your offers ? Princess has VIP cruises which comes with day "presents" left in the cabin. - chocolates, strawberries, etc. Does Holland America ? Princess offers have gotten worst in the past year. Last year we were offered free balcony, plus packages (drinks, gratuities, wifi) and casino play What kind of offers do you receive from Holland America ? thanks for your replies
  16. My attempt is a B2B. Leave out of Los Angeles or San Diego and take a cruise to Vancouver/Seattle. then take a second Alaska cruise - the one we want is on Holland America out of Seattle. Unfortunately, we can not go into Seattle for the Pacific Coast cruise, they are go to Vancouver and all the Alaska cruises do not have the stops that we want unless we go out of Seattle.
  17. can you give me cost for renting the car for one day- dropping off in Seattle price for the train going to Sea Tac airport i would have to consider, driving to Seattle and getting hotel downtown and then transportation to cruise ship next day train to Sea Tac airport, hotel at airport, transportation to cruise ship next morning. hassle, hassle, hassle, need a cruise to relax after all of that.
  18. thank you all for your replies. since we have a one day delay, I think the train would work, just need to find hotel in seattle. Will do more research.
  19. We don't want to fly round trip, so we are looking going from San Diego to Vancouver May 2023. ships arrives in Vancouver May 3 and then the same ship leaves out of Seattle May 4th. There is no ride along going from Vancouver to Seattle for the one day. - (maritime laws?) If you have done this trip - how did you get from Vancouver port to Seattle. Did you stay over in Vancouver and use Holland transfer to Seattle, or did you get to Seattle and then spend the night there. We would then fly home from Seattle. Having a hard time finding information on the transportation options and costs.
  20. We were on a Celebrity cruise trans Atlantic. The last stop was Le Havre before getting into London. We have no plans do go to Europe again, but if we did I would not go if I couldn't include Le Havre and do a tour of Normandy again. We used the ships excursion and it was the highlight of the trip. No matter which company you use - it is a must.
  21. I have a suggestion for future. Use your iphone to take pictures of the screen to save the info to show Princess that the flight was still available. I take pictures on my computer screen all the time and save them until issue is resolved. This issue is why we hate to fly to another location to catch or leave on a cruise.
  22. We gamble at a land Indian casino and will be getting a Holland cruise certificate. We normally cruise on Princess. We started 15 cruises ago with a free cruise from the Indian Casino. Holland has a 28 day Alaska cruise that we are really interested in, I realize that we won't be able to use this certificate for this particular cruise, but if we continue to cruise with Holland and get offers in the future, would the future offers work for longer cruises. Princess has a limit of 20 days Any personal experience in booking long cruises on Holland would be appreciate.
  23. our free offers from Princess ; you have to pay the port tax and unless they offer you the plus package, you have to pay gratuities and drinks
  24. your points is for that cruise only and your offer come back and play offer at the end of the cruise is based on that cruise. For the amount of points you should be getting good email and U.S mailers, we ususally got a free balcony, plus and free play, but now that gets yu free inside, no plus and free play,
