  1. In Victoria. Beautiful weather. Rumor on board that we left six people in Skagway. Don't know if that's true. We have the greatest HW. I think he may be the best I've ever had. He comes by every night. I've seen him helping out his staff taking orders and even bussing tables. I need to get his specific name for the post cruise survey. Bar staff is wonderful all over the ship. I agree w Denise. This ship is so comfortable and friendly.

Our HW is Daniel and he stops by our table every night, tonight twice. We are in Michelangelo. Have I mentioned that I love this ship?

  2. Captains circle party. 180+ elites on board. No canapés. Full size drinks. My role model Mary of Sacramento MTP at 2000+ days. Son in law said beef Wellington at dinner was best thing he ever ate on princess. Granddaughter is now 3 and going to Pelicans and we have to drag her out of there. All my grandkids just love princess kid clubs. Tomorrow Victoria.

We were invited to our to first Captain's Circle Party, but missed it due to an early dinner.

    2000 days, wow!

I've decided I want to live on this ship. Everyone has been great!

  3. I'm on the Grand Princess also and am having a great time! Right now we're docked in Ketchikan and I'm in town sitting in a chair outside the quilt shop, Whales Tail, while the wife is shopping. ... Soon we board the Duck Tour.

The weather reports all said rain every day but we have been having good weat her so far.

We love sailing out of SF and the Grand has everything we need.

Oh yeah, the Trident Grill is becoming a favorite place at times with the Alaskance specialties like crab cakes from Tracys and love those fish tacos!

    More later!

Sadly, we tried both crab cakes and the ones on the ship taste nothing like Tracy's.

Took a helicopter ride to Mead Glacier yesterday which was nothing short of amazing. Today is a float plane to Neets Bay For some bear watching. Having a great time.

  4. Glacier Bay. On deck. Freezing. They are serving reindeer chili but I can't bring myself to eat Rudolph. LOL. Muts tonight is captain America. Crazy people who will sit out here at night! There's the first glacier!

Back in my cabin and still frozen. First time seeing glaciers and they were beautiful.

  5. Made The Chef's Table - Yipeeee! No sea sickness here. Hubby's suit hasn't come back from being pressed so might miss formal night tonight. Tomorrow is landfall. We get off this boat and onto another for whale watching.

  6. We are currently on the Grand and they only said "no shorts." My son went to dinner last night in a dark gray t-shirt and jeans. I've seen lots of jeans, with some fashionably ripped. Tonight is formal. We'll see how that goes.

  7. Wave to me Denise! Lounge in the One5 was good. It's not Skywalkers but it has its charms. Sea has calmed a bit. Finally got around to swapping out my mini bar this eve. So I now have a supply of Diet Coke. The smaller closets on this ship are a challenge. But there are good trade offs in the use of space. One thing I like is the wider aisles around the piazza. The hanging over and watching the entertainment below is better. The crowds don't seem so crushed. There has been only one CS item on the menu each night. I haven't worked up the courage to try any of them. Another sea day tomorrow.

I'm trading out my mini bar for Diet Coke tomorrow. My son and DIL had the CS pot pie and both thought it was very good. It looked like it could use a few veggies though.

  8. I love this ship. First time on her and I'm already in love with the layout and the decor. Embarkation was a snap. My daughter says she's never cruising fro San Pedro again. LOL.

I'll try to check in but I don't know if this will qualify as a live from [emoji1]

Also on the Grand and loving it. The only child I've seen so far is my lovely little granddaughter (8 mos). Nothing seems overly crowded so far.

  9. Curtis Stone has gone from the cover boy on the first new version of the Captain's Circle magazine that began this thread to not being mentioned anywhere in the 3rd magazine that I received yesterday.

It promotes Club Class, Luxury Bed, Majestic and the Sanctuary but not one word about Curtis Stone which is another indication to me that he's on his way out of the Princess door.

He could be on his way out, but why would they do another article on CS when they did one not too long ago. I don't know that he needs to be mentioned every time.

  10. It depends on the cruise line. I could definitely see the younger demographic on certain cruise lines scoffing at a dressed-up night. But other cruise lines attract an audience that truly enjoys a glam evening. From my own experience, my daughter insists that we participate in Formal Night. If paying $25 or $30 for one extra bag on top of a $3,000 cruise is the cost of looking nice, then so be it. My daughter thinks it is. I agree.

Your daughter is beautiful and looks lovely. She must make you proud.

My sons also enjoy dressing up, at least for one formal night. We go to a specialty restaurant for the others.

  11. I'm fairly sure that the attacks on SHARE, were mainly about the ambiance, lighting and seating, even down to the type of timber used to manufacture the stools.

The quality of the food seemed secondary.

    But I could be wrong.:)

And the attacks on the M.D.R menu, mainly centred around the lose of Beef Medallions.

    But I could be wrong.

    I don't think you're wrong.

  12. Ahhh, so you are the one who believes everything on Wiki is true . You do realize that you don't actually have to know the facts to contribute.

So the guys elderly mother chose not to believe everything that is written on the internet so she is "that type". Maybe when she hit 80 she didn't care to learn something new every day.

Sorry, I just don't think you should ridicule this guys dead mother.

There was no ridicule of anyone's mother. The person's mother wasn't the one who said they weren't a fan of Wikipedia when he/she was given the information about Sweetbreads.

  13. The story about your kids is interesting. I'd never heard of that kind of upgrade--where the occupants of two cabins were combined into one. I really think that was a very unique, and, perhaps, serendipidous circumstance for Princess. I can see a scenario where a suite occupant had to cancel at the last minute and that is how that suite became available. To me, that just seems more likely than the idea of Pricess holding back a suite, because maybe, the ship might be otherwise oversold and two sisters are traveling on this cruise in two cabins but would be OK traveling together if the price is right.

You are probably correct that it was a unique situation considering the amount of OBC given.
