  1. I think it is like contagious yawning.

People have heard about club class.

    They see a line.

    Yawn.

The line is caused by club class.

Whether or not the ship offers Club Class.

    Yawn.

Maybe the long lines are simply because most people want to eat at the same time and the dining rooms can't handle it. Also, being allowed to make reservations probably adds to the problem. Blaming traditional and CC diners is getting old.

  2. Are you suggesting I can't have dinner at a specialty restaurant, then walk into the MDR and have a second dinner?

    Challenge accepted! ;)

You are correct. I'm assuming a person only eats one dinner per evening. Go for it!

  3. In that case do you tip an extra $200 on a ten day trip for the dining staff (assuming you tip $20 at the Specialty restaurant)?

You are assuming a person eats all 10 nights in the MDR, which is not possible if they're eating in specialty restaurants.

  4. Which waiters work harder, the ones working the main DR or the ones at the Specialty restaurants?

Seems to me they both work hard no matter where they're assigned.

And they both get tipped extra. The specialty restaurant server after the meal and the MDR server at the end of the cruise.

  5. Last month when we had dinner in the Crown Grill the waiter stopped us from adding the tip to the bill (we had forgotten to bring cash) saying the cover charge includes his tip. I then specifically asked him if I ran back to the cabin and brought back some cash, would he get all of that tip. He responded, "There's no need to do that, why pay something that's already been paid."

We're not newbies so we were shocked by his comments.

I was once stopped from adding a tip to the paper bill. I was told the extra tip would go to everyone. I've never had anyone turn down cash.

  6. I think most people that say they tip “generosity” really dont...they say that to man them feel better on line. I would say that mots people dont tip anythign extra and those that do, tip 5 -10 bucks per dinner. Just tip what feels comfortable fro you, no one will batt an eye. :-)

I think most people make comments like yours to make them feel better about not tipping. See how that works?

  7. I personally wouldn't tip extra but the the ones who profess to tip based on what they feel the meal would cost them in a restaurant at home would no doubt do so.

Actually, I tip just about everywhere, but I've never tipped at a Chef's stable.

  8. I'll bet there are some who post 'n boast how much extra they tip when in fact they tip not at all. A portion of the fee for a specialty restaurant is designated as a tip for the staff.

I don't know why anyone would do that, but I'm guessing you're a non tipper. The bottom line is if you don't want to tip don't, but I'll tip if I want to.

  9. We leave on the Crown for a B2B in the Caribbean in just over six weeks. Our passports expire in June 2017. I know we can travel with a birth certificate and state-issued photo ID as back up, but I may just bite the bullet and send our passports off for renewal. Has anyone renewed their passport recently and can share the wait-time for it to be returned?

My husband renewed his in August and received his new passport 2 weeks later.

  10. I'm getting tired of people complaining about Princess offering extras to people who are willing to pay for them....

I think CC needs a whiners' board.

I don't think I would pay extra just to sit in a separate DR and have a few extra amenities, but I'm not concerned that others do.

  11. This is my first OP and will be my last. I do not care for snarky remarks and unkind assumptions regarding my character.

If you do not get the above reference...look it up and you should understand my comment better.

Also with regards to cc taking service away service from other diners , I am not seeing this to be the case. There have been longer lines to enter MDR with atd but everyone files in and eats and is not left outside waiting. Cc has about 20 two tops and one ( maybe 2) larger rounds. I have seen that everyone gets seated at noon at 5:15 and at 7 pm as this is when we have eaten. So if there are problems with others getting a table in atd at other times I wouldn't know.

Please don't let it get to you. It happens often, but there are good people here that will appreciate the information you are providing.

  12. The helicopter and sea plane trips look fun, but is there only one pilot? What happens if he has a medical emergency while flying? What is the safety protocol, is there an auto pilot?

Just one pilot on our helicopter tour and on the floatplane to Neets Bay. Frankly, those things never occur to me.
