  1. in 2009 we were in D736 on the Ruby Princess - here are a few pictures of the balcony area I took at the time - IMO it is the best cabin we have stayed in on any of our cruises.

The "dreaded beam" in no way intruded on our space.

We heard no noise from any vents.

We incurred no smell from such vents.

In short the balcony in this room was supurb

I had the same cabin in 2012 and loved it. The beam was not a problem for us either.

  2. Thanks, I appreciate for the money it's going to be low quality, the bike will be used just to get around campus', so nothing serious

I have a similar Huffy bike that I ride around my neighborhood. I've had it for three years and it's holding up fine. It'll be fine for getting around campus.

  3. Actually, Renaut does Savoyare food, from Haute-Savoie in France, think Alps and ski resorts. It's not what we think of as French cuisine or what you might find at some high-class Paris diner like Tour D'Argent. The food is rich with potatoes and cheese and ham and all kinds of comforty stuff. (My SIL lives in Savoie and I have eaten lots of Savoyarde food.) I think you'd like it. Tartiflette is kind of heaven in a dish.

This is assuming Renaut will do Savoyarde on Princess, but I guess that remains to be seen. In any case, if you don't like it, don't think it looks appetizing, don't want to eat it a second (or third) time, I will not stamp my feet and hold my breath until you DO WHAT I SAY or I'm telling the grownups.

Hey, we agree on something - tartiflette is heaven in a dish.

  4. Having read loads of the anti share posts I do feel thatm lots of them (mine included) have been about the share items on the MDR menu - most of these we tried have been inedible and that is what put us off trying the share restuarant.

I tried the Chicken and Leek Pot Pie in the MDR and thought it was tasty, but I did miss having vegetables. Also, cutting into the pastry and finding less filling than I'd imagined was disappointing. Still, I would love to try SHARE someday.

  5. Apparently, I am not allowed to post in a SHARE thread, but I'll try again. This is a review from another source with pictures of the food. http://lafoodie.com/post/139958007591/share-curtis-stone-takes-to-the-seas

People can see the dishes and form their own opinions as to whether they want to try them or not.

I think the food looks amazing. There are a couple of things I don't like. Beets (as previously stated) and mushrooms, but it doesn't look like I'd go hungry. My mouth was watering looking at those pictures. Hopefully, the food tastes as good as it looks.

  6. Having personally observed the multitude of responses to 'Share' on CC since its debut - from those that have actually dined there(including moi) - the general consensus has been that most have had a less than favorable opinion of their 'Share' dining experience for various stated reasons. It is safe to declare that the 'nays' outweigh the 'yeahs' at a minimum clip of 2 to 1 in favor of the nays.

Yes, but quite a few of those nays have never bothered to try it. While they are entitled to their reasons, I generally don't factor in their opinions when making decisions to try it or not. Frankly, I don't care about furniture or lighting. I'm interested in the food. I'm looking forward to making my own decisions regarding SHARE. Thanks OP for the review.

  7. It's only the cruise "snobs" who are too cool to use a lanyard who will look down their noses at you and your lanyard :)

    ...VTX-Al

Really? I don't use a lanyard because I think they look stupid. I don't care what you do. Not snobbery, just personal opinion.

  8. I didn't read it that way, but I do know there are some who are very dismissive of people who don't like SHARE. I was last on Ruby right before the SHAREification of Sabatini's, so I haven't been tempted. I am a fan of the Sabatini's on Crown, the location, specifically. I like to eat my chicken entree while watching the beautiful view out the back windows. :) Another thing I like about it is the fact that I can order another chicken if I want to without paying an additional charge over and above the first $29 upcharge. At the risk of being called a tasteless hick (and other charming things, as has happened to me more than once here), I am not tempted by SHARE because nothing on the menu appeals to me, and I am not willing to pay $39 to taste something I don't want to eat. Don't knock it until you try it? I'm not knocking it. I'm just saying I don't want to try it. As for Salty Dog, I was on the first cruise on the Crown after they debuted it. The way they plopped down the fast-food style tables in the middle of the nautical decor just didn't work for me. I declined to pay an extra $19 for sitting at one of those tables. (BTW, I sat in one when the restaurant was not yet open, and I found the chair uncomfortable.) So here's someone who does not find either new restaurant appealing. Maybe I'm one of thousands not dining there?

You have some valid points. I hope I get to try it before it disappears, but it doesn't seem likely since my next three cruises are on the Caribbean and Grand.

  9. Thanks for saying so. I agree about Share. That was my experience on the Ruby last March' date=' too. Not to worry: some Share enthusiasts will soon chime in on how great it is.

Thanks again for your honest thoughts.[/quote']

I've never been to SHARE, but it's good to know that I'm only allowed an opinion if I hate it.

  10. The joke will be on you when you try to displace us and find the dining room completely empty because we are all upstairs standing in line to crash ATD :p

  11. You're absolutely right.

We haven't even addressed the vile traditional diners using up all

the butter, and causing a 500+ post thread about butter.

This is a fact, and I have the data that proves it. :)

I'm a TD diner and I do use a lot of butter.

  12. I believe you have figured it out. The sticker signified that you were traveling on a foreign passport which would put you in a different immigration line in SF or Non-US residents. It would be a way for the staff to quickly determine which line you needed to go in. Did they split you up or allow both of you to use the same line?

I travel on a foreign passport and didn't have a sticker, but then I have a green card.

Yes, you can both use the same line.

  13. We have cruised more than a dozen times and have always chosen Traditional early dining. On the majority of those cruises, we were seated in one of the anytime dinning rooms by the ship's staff. So we were not going were we did not belong, but to where we had been assigned.

Ditto on my last cruise. We selected early TD and were given a table in AT. I assumed TD was overbooked.

  14. It is not called dry cleaning anymore. They have gotten away from some of the harsh chemicals and it is now called professional cleaning. We have used it and it is fine for items that need "dry cleaning."

Also, in a suite it is back the same day if given to your room steward first thing in the morning.

I was just in a suite and never got my laundry back the same day. We gave it to the steward first thing and got it back on the evening of the next day.
