  1. Gee, am I the only one who thinks some people actually want CC to fail?

People hate change. There are still people that can't wait for SHARE to fail even though they never had any intention of trying it. I guess calling people stupid for wanting to try CC or the AIBP is supposed to keep people away so those too will fail.

  2. I am looking at window suites on the Caribbean Princess for June 2018, fittingly in the Caribbean. We are five people and would need two of them, preferably with the entry doors next to each other (vs. next to someone else) if the doors are grouped in pairs. Or the doors might be spaced apart anyway (?) as there are an odd number of these suites (seven total). Does anyone know which pairs of suite numbers would have their entry doors side by side (if possible) -- either 307/309 or 309/311? Thank you for any info!

305/307 and 309/311. We had these four suites in September.

  3. Actually, besides the dinning room photographers, i really dislike when the photographers on embarkation day are at the terminal, right before the gangway to get onboard). At least at Port Everglades, there is NO WAY to avoid them and surpass them. They make you wait in that lin e regardless, before boarding, weather you like it or not. You are not required to take a photo, but you still have to wait in the line. After every Princess cruise, I always make a remark about this inconvenience on every Princess survey for years. I fully understand that lots of people like the photos, and this is a great way start documenting your vacation. However, for my self at least, living in Fort Lauderdale, I'm constantly cruising and always onbaord. I just wish there were 2 separate lines. One for those passengers who would like the embarkation photo taken, and a line for those who would like to politely surpass. I actually tried skipping around, and the photographers were not happy with me, and even argued with me, that I could not skip the line, just so I can board. Grant you, I only did that once, but I was shocked with the attitude of the photographer, as I politely and graciously explained, I have no interest in taking a a picture, and would just like to board. It just seems unnecessary to wait in a lengthy line.

I always manage to just move around them and onto the ship. A simple shake of the head everywhere else works also.

  4. Actually it's not just $39 p/p. You've got to consider the cost of the missed meal in the DR. Whatever that's worth.

Also most people add some additional tip when in the Specialty restaurants.

All in all it's a pricey meal.

I can't imagine that one meal in the DR is worth too much, so with tip SHARE is probably on par with a lower priced tasting menu.

  5. I'm in the same category as you. ;)

I plan to try the new menu but don't understand why there are no beef Secondi Piatti options. Not everyone eats veal & one of the most famous Northern Italian entrées is Bistecca alla Fiorentina...Florentine Beefsteak.

At first glance I was happy that the burrata was still an option however it's nothing like the previous great version with tomatoes & balsamic syrup.

    Currently:

Burrata alla Panna con Carpaccio di Pomodori hand-formed cow’s milk cheese with creamy lava center on tomato carpaccio, balsamic syrup

    New:

Burrata cow’s milk burrata, roasted golden beets, fava beans, mint basil vinaigrette, toasted hazelnuts

I was happy about the burrata staying until I read the new description. It's a tradition for my family to eat in Sabbatini's on the first night, but we might have to start a new tradition. I'll try it because we have two free speciality dinners on our next cruise .

  6. Some of the passengers can be enticed to pay for just about anything at any price. :p

And if they enjoy it, so what? It's their vacation. Although, I admit I need to stay out of the boutiques.

  7. That will be the day when I'll pay $25 for a chicken breast as a main course.

It must be some spectacular chicken breast !

They fed us a chicken breast at a captain's luncheon one cruise and it was one of the least impressive meals I've had on any Princess ship. :o

Understood, but when all else fails it a good thing to fall back in.

  8. Actually, it's $500 that they are wanting me to purchase on a bath tub and an additional TV. That's no bargain IMHO. It's laughable to me and DH.

Unless it was an upsell to a club class mini I agree with you. That $500 could be better spent elsewhere.

  9. How were you able to pre-book restaurant reservations? They always tell us we can't do that.

I just looked it up on "On board Reservations" for our next cruise and this is what it says: "For an extra special dining experience, or if celebrating something special, don't miss the exquisite cuisine and intimate settings of our specialty restaurants. Make your reservations early once onboard via the DINE line from your stateroom phone."

I booked the Crown Grill for our anniversary on our October cruise. I like this option.

  10. The burrata appears to be the only holdover from the most recent menu but not short rib penne or calamari fritti. However I'll be happy to try the new menu's choices which were long overdue. The previous menu's change from the one with a pizza course wasn't much different but this menu is an interesting change.

I'm sad to see the short rib penne go as it was amazing. The new menu doesn't appeal to me, but I will try it once. I do like the addition of the chicken breast for the less adventurous like me.

  11. I read somewhere, but can't find it now - that they are starting to phase out Curtis Stone's "Share" and replace it with a revamped Sabatini's. Is this true? Will the Sabatinis on all ships be changed?

    Wishful thinking, I think.

  12. My next Princess cruise is (hopefully) in 183 days. I actually don't care if there's a Sea Witch on the bow or not. If there is, I'll take a picture of it. I'll probably take several pictures of it from lots of different angles. You know I love to take lots and lots of pictures. If there's no Sea Witch on the bow I'll be sure to post a Live thread and let you know. Either way I'll post a Live thread. Maybe. Don't get your hopes up. Especially Andrew. You know how he gets. ;) lol Just kidding Andrew. I can't compete with your Live threads anyways. Never mind. No Live thread. I'll just cancel my cruise. Darn it. Now I'm all sad and stuff.

    LOL!
