  1. If the food on the ship is a good indication of English food then

    it is true.

They certainly don't mess up Italian food.

    They do in the MDR.

  2. The fish has always been excellent when we go. We try and go at least once or twice on a cruise.

It's been mostly good when I've gone. I think it missed the mark just once, on the Grand last year.

  3. I agree Pub food in England can be hit & miss, especially in the tourist honeypots.

Food in tourist spots in any country can be hit and miss. For good food anywhere, you need to go where the locals go.

  4. The food is just as lousy as the food in England. So if you enjoy that you will love the pub lunch

    That was quite unnecessary.

  5. I never order two entrées in the Specialty restaurants. However, if you are going to use the better price than a restaurant at home argument, then Surf and Turf should be offered on the menu like it is at a restaurant at home.

Yes, but if you ordered surf and turf at a decent restaurant at home you'd pay more than $29, which also includes appetizer and dessert.

  6. So how much time are you in Moscow. I would not do it.

    DON

About 8 hrs or so. You leave around 7 am and get back between 10 and midnight.

I'm definitely doing it. I doubt I'll ever have another chance to see Moscow, if only for a few hours.

  7. According to Princess' excursion detail, 45min from ship to railway station and 04:05hours train ride to Moscow. Really a long each-way trip.

Yes, but when will you have another chance to see Moscow. I'd love to hear from someone that has made this trip.

  8. Thanks for the screenshot of what we'll receive including a wristband. That's a different one than I've seen in other promotional material which might be promoting cool wristbands which like the necklace are of course available for purchase. ;)

Yeah, probably. If this is accurate, I like these better.

  9. If they did not make the cut to get into TD, they can and must eat in AT if they want to be served. If they made the cut and were assigned a table in the TD room, my previous comment applies -

KEEP OUT OF MY AT DINING ROOM!!

    DON

Ok, got it, and I agree with you.

  10. I have not read anywhere that the ***** comes with a wrist band...could you point out the information you used for that statement.

In the FAQs it states that the ***** is free & the ways passengers can wear it but not that they'll provide them.

I read in their early announcement that the medallions came with a wristband, but cannot find it now.

Below is a screenshot from the Princess video regarding *****.

  11. This is my comment to the traditional dining folk who feel that they are special and can come into my anytime dining space - KEEP OUT OF MY DINING ROOM AND I WILL KEEP OUT OF YOURS!!!!

    DON

I'm a traditional diner and I agree with you 100%, but they should do away with reservations in ATD because I think that is the problem more than traditional diners.

  12. Nice try.

If TD diners don't infiltrate my ATD chosen turf, I won't infiltrate theirs. You can't have it both ways. It's called manners. There is a buffet and other options. Why should I wait to accommodate you? Why should anyone? You signed up for your assigned seating, and if you did not upon request and/or got it from booking too late. . . too bad. That's your lot in cruise paid life.

Although, I do agree that the Princess buffets are now akin to going to DMV.

Are you saying that if a person requests TD and doesn't make the cut they should eat in the buffet every night?

  13. Really? You realize you will be tracked on the ship wherever you are? And maybe accosted more with promotions which you may find annoying?

Bad enough now with specialist dining, bottled water, effy jewellery, bloody marys at breakfast, drink packages etc etc.

Buy those things once and you will be a marked man, they will know where you are and can target you accurately in the interests of profitability.

I'm not afraid! Actually I'm looking forward to it. I love new technology and this could be fun. I don't care if they know where I am, what I drink or what I buy. I wish my two upcoming cruises had the medallion.

  14. I understand what you are saying and I appreciate that you are not trying to hammer/force your point across. Unfortunately there are some on here that do and insist that those not dressed "formal" eat elsewhere.

I enjoy formal nights, but when I don't feel like dressing up I eat elsewhere, even occasionally the buffet and I hate buffets. Why? Because I'm aware of the guidelines before I travel and sign that contract.

  15. As much as I like wearing a gown on formal night, I have to admit I'm one of the first to head back to my cabin after dinner to change. Two hours is enough. I, personally, would not go to the MDR on formal night in smart casual clothing, even if Princess allows it. I'd feel uncomfortable and under dressed. Others can do what they want, but I really wish Princess would enforce more formal dress on formal nights.

  16. What were these pax wearing that got them refused entry? Shorts in the MDR at night are a big one. This IS where I drew the line! Shorts & t shirts are NOT Smart Casual! It is simply slovenly dress, period! During the day, fine but at night, no. You come like that to my rest. you will NOT get admitted. Slacks & collared shirt are fine.

I've also seen people in shorts turned away from the MDR. I should say men, I've seen women in shorts allowed in.

  17. I agree - those that want to cruise casual should go to Carnival - the Princess guidelines are very clear on formal dress contrary to what the poster states -

The problem is with Princess for not enforcing the dress code. People will always try to buck the system, it's general nature.

  18. How do you explain the fact of how many people on Princess are dressed casually on formal nights in the DR?

Could it be that they all just breaking the suggested rules? ;p

I'm curious where all these casually dressed people are. I find that most people very dressed up on formal night.
