OMG, InThe WASide! Your pictures are wonderful! We are taking our first HAL cruise on the Koningsdam March 27 and your pics really gave me an idea of what to expect. It looks like a really beautiful ship. Thanks again!

HAL will store refrigerated meds in the Medical Center for free -- they would *really* rather do that than worry
about having a passenger at sea with spoiled meds due to freezing or overtemp in an unmonitored refrigerator.
That being said, insulin is now comes in a stable-at-room-temp-for-7-weeks-after-opening variety.
Thank you, I did not know that. We have our first HAL cruise in March so this thread is great!

No they don't but you can rent a cooler for about $3.00 a day.. That's what our Friends do..Ask your Travel Agent to set it up or call Reservations & ask to be transferred to Ships Services..Sorry I don't have their direct Number..
Wouldn't special needs put a small fridge in your cabin if you request it? I have friends who do that on all other lines/ships for their insulin.

I get off as you get on!
Great review im just hoping the ship isnt to small for me after going on the oasis class ones.
So is the latest i can eat 12 midnight and only in park cafe? (Not including room service)
Yes, that's true. It is disappointing when you get used to 24 hour pizza and other food sources on other ships/lines.
I noticed a typo when rereading my review. Antigua has 365 beaches.

Thanks so much for the review we go on the Serenade Jan. 21, 2019...been on 6 cruises first with RCL...but do like smaller ships...
You will love the Serenade! Let me know if have any questions.

Thank you, thinfool!

I have sent many things to the laundry, but nothing delicate or really expensive.
Thanks...that's what we do with Carnival, just underwear and t-shirts.

After reading wonderful reviews about Dora's tours here and on Trip Advisor, we have booked with her for November. My questions are, do you have enough time to visit the aviary after she drops you back at the cruise terminal, and how far is it from the cruise terminal? Do we have enough time to spend there to truly enjoy it?
Our ship leaves at 5:00 which means we must be back on board by 4:30.

I assume that they use the hottest water possible...wouldn't want to send anything good. On Carnival we just sent underwear; I know they use the hottest water possible! This will be our first time Elite on X so just wondering if it's okay to send good items for laundry.

Thanks for your review and pics -- they're beautiful! We are taking an 11-day on the Reflection in November and this makes the wait even harder! We sailed the Reflection two years ago, but I don't remember much about it except that it's a beautiful ship.

I need to insert a hyperlink into my signature, but I can't find the option to do that anymore.
Does anyone know what happened to that feature?

I'm not sure the site is entirely fixed. While the new look is great, when I log in my account went from Diamond to Pre-Gold. I don't see any of my past cruises anymore.
This happened to us. It took a month to get it fixed when they first switched over and now we're back to pregold from diamond. At least when they check their computers they have us at diamond with correct number of points.

You could hide on the ship and hope that nobody finds you:evilsmile::evilsmile:
I have thought about this just before debarkation...I could sleep in the lifeboats, shower and get ready in the spa, eat at the buffets, hang around the pool during the day, see the shows at night... It could work.

You know you're addicted if you refer to your home as a "Port of Call".
You know you're addicted if you call the floors in your house "decks".
You know you're addicted if you refer to your bedroom as "your cabin".
My name is Terre and I'm a cruiseaholoic. We stayed at an all inclusive last year and I kept calling our room our cabin.:D
Ever since our first cruise, we have cruised every year. Sometimes we can squeeze in three a year, but mostly it's been two. Now that we've retired, we can book those 11 and 14 day cruises! Makes me happy.

Hi Terre,
I had to actually join and sign in to be able to try and contact you Don't ask me how I ever found you on here.
We sat with you on your last Serenade cruise and our cabin was down the hall from yours. The morning we were leaving, I went down to your cabin but you must have already left. I wanted to exchange e mails. If you can, e mail me at taximombarb@yahoo.com. Hope to hear back from you and Mike.

Hey, Barb! I'm glad you found me! I sent you an email. Now you can be a cruise critic!

I think it depends on the ship and the time of year. In early December we sailed the Serenade of the Seas, 11 day to Southern Caribbean. The women dressed up way more than I did. I brought my casual clothes and a not so formal top for formal nights. The women dressed up every night and more so on formal nights.
Sailed the same ship, same 11 day itinerary in March and I took more dressy outfits and the women were more casual. I don't think it's something you can figure out before hand. Just wear what you like and what you'll be comfortable in.

We love to just lounge around. It's so pretty and peaceful, we pick a spot further on down and find some trees and just take it easy. We do like to walk around and take pictures, though. Don't forget about lunch, they don't announce it, so around noon walk toward your lunch spot.

I am not sure that RCCL sees a box fan as a medical need, maybe you could provide them documentation ahead of time and they can make sure you get one?
BTW, I just received confirmation that our fan, extension cord and distilled water for my husband will be in the room so maybe try emailing special services again and make it clear that a fan is a medical need for you.
Emailing them and reminding them does not work on the Serenade. I've done that on two cruises now with that ship. I even got a confirmation from the ship that I would have it, but once on board they say they don't have fans for guests. That's why I was asking about RCI' s policy about packing it in your checked bag because on Carnival you have to carry it on; however, Carnival has always provided me with a fan.
-
We use an app that mimics the fan noise and use a small portable Bluetooth speaker to increase the volume above our phones capabilities.
I need a fan for my asthma, not for noise as others do. Looks like the people who want one for noise are winning out over my medical need even though I send my request right after booking as well.
Oh well, guess I need to take my own if we sail on the Serenade again.
-
I email special services a few months ahead of time and ask that box fan be placed in our room.
I always do this but both times we've sailed on the Serenade I haven't gotten one and they tell me they don't have them. I need it for my asthma to sleep.
I've never had a problem with the request on any other RCCL ship or any other cruise line.
