Hello ladies,
Just stop by to say hello. Hope everyone is doing well. Ken and I are doing fantastic and enjoying the cruise.
The dress code for this cruise is Country club-casual. Ken and I always dress up for dinner, Ken is always in a suit and I am always in a cocktail dress. The crew appreciates that we dress up. Most people dress casual there for I feel silly to take picture.
Take care ladies
xoxo

Marie, I am loving every single one of your photos!! As for dressing up, you both always look amazing!!!!! It's your cruise, dress whatever way you want to dress!! Take those pictures and show them off with pride!! You are a beautiful couple! Besides, I'm sure there are many others who when they see how amazing you both look are wishing they too had come prepared to look so beautiful!!

Still have this dress in my closet. Anyone interested?
Which dress is it you still have? Any chance you could repost the photo again? I might well be interested if it's the size 20W you still have.

Sharon my sincere condolences in the loss of your husband.
I HATE cancer. My husband was diagnosed 5 years ago this week with prostate cancer and a month later learned he also had kidney cancer. They removed his kidney and he is on hormone therapy for the prostate. We recently learned the prostate cancer has spread to the pelvic bone. My daily fear is that of him losing his battle.

Hi ladies' date=' Hope everyone is doing well and having a wonderful day.
Joyce contacted me and told me that you wonderul ladies had "missed me"! How sweet is that? And it helped make my day brighter. Thank you.
I haven't been on much lately due to several things, and since I feel as though the ladies on CC are a tight group. I will share with you.
My little 86 year old mother was in the hopsital...She tried to get up one morning to go to the bathroom. They were not watching her and she fell and broke her arm, her rib and worst of all she broke her neck.
She has been in very serious condition since. She has a cast on her arm and a halo on her head. Then they had to give her a tracheostomy and she was put on a ventilator.
I have been to Nashville twice in the last few weeks and last night she asked where I was. So I will probably try to go again very soon. I'm just a little worn out with travel and work, so I haven't been on here much.
I know so many of you are like family so may I ask for Prayers for healing for my Momma and prayers for strength and courage for my Daddy. They had their 68th wedding anniversary last week...so he is having a really hard time with this.
Whatever the outcome, I know that my momma is in the best of care...We want her well and to be able to come home....I doubt that is in her future, but we also know that her heavenly home will be so much better than her earthly home.
So sorry to have started your days post such a weary story, so forigve me.
On a good note, I'm looking forward to a day at the beach tomorrow. :) Thanks again, and everyone have a blessed day! :)[/quote']
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Saying prayers for your momma and daddy and for you as well. May God be with you all.

Hi all,
I just love looking through this thread at all the lovely fashion that everyone has brought.
I have just purchased the below for my upcoming cruise on Queen Elizabeth.
It is the first time I have ordered anything online so my fingers and toes are all crossed.

Beautiful!

I made my wedding gown...from a pattern...47 years ago. Have sewn a lot, but would rather make an entire garment than alter one. Way to go Marie! I did make patterns several times, but prefer a purchased pattern.
I totally agree, altering is tricky. I have made several wedding gowns one of which I made my own pattern for. Made many articles of clothing. Am currently making a California king size quilt, it's about my 50th quilt probably but the only one this big.

Marie,
So sorry to hear that you have Shingles again (didn't realize you could get it twice - what a bummer). At least you have a nice upgrade on the Prinsendam - I have heard great things about her. I, too, look forward to your pictures.
Kathi
Unfortunately you can get them over and over again, just never in a different location.
Marie, so sorry to hear you are dealing with this again. Have you spoken with your doctor about the shingles vaccine? They say that stress is the biggest trigger of a shingles outbreak. Maybe you should have started packing sooner. :) Hope doc gave you the pills and they work quickly!

Does anyone have a sturdy cross body bag no longer in use? Just big enough for carrying a bit of cash, debit card and a small bottle of water in. Nothing fancy as needing it for my hikes. My hands are full with my hiking poles and I need somewhere to carry my water bottle.

Okay. This seems the right spot to post what seems rather stupid questions. In my last few years in the corporate world. Most ladies stopped wearing hosiery. I never quite got used to seeing it. Is hosiery still worn by ladies? Just formal night? I was thinking of wearing dressy sundresses for non formal nights. Is it still in poor taste if my arm tattoo is visible?
I can't remember the last time I wore hosiery. When it comes to cruising, we are usually cruising to a warm sunny area and I tan quickly, so why cover up what comes natural? Not to mention that it's hot, why make it hotter then it is by nature? However, if your personal preference is to wear hosiery by all means wear such. It's your cruise, wear what makes you comfortable. Trust me, everyone there is into their own good time, they are there judging you for how you are dressed.

Marie sent my dd not one but four dresses. Here they are.
Marie, you're a class act!
Love them all but that yellow is stunning on your daughter. Marie, certainly is a class act, she's one of a kind!

Unfortunately because of a weight restriction on the floatplane that will take me and Mom from Vancouver to Victoria after the cruise, I can only pack one dress. I was upset about that because Mom bought two dresses for each of us thinking we would both wear different dresses on the two formal nights. :(
After realizing she can't pack either of her fancy dresses because of the flight to Victoria, Mom went back to the thrift store and bought something I can't find at all on the Internet: a silk top totally covered with sequins in a colorful pattern. I could not believe how lucky she was to find one with sleeves. She also bought a pair of lightweight black pants there that are made of a dressy material to wear with it. That is the one good thing about being limited to 25 pounds of luggage.
This will be the first time we pose for formal pictures because we never had any tops or dresses with sequins before, thanks to the high prices of new ones. This is one of the reasons I am super excited about taking the cruise in 90 days.
Will you be doing the float plane back to Vancouver? Are there lockers you can rent at the cruise port to leave behind some of your things to pick up on the return trip? I walk by the cruise port in Vancouver a couple of times per week most weeks I could look and see if there are lockers if the plan to is bring a float plane back to Vancouver from Victoria.

I just found this thread and don't have time to look at many pages, but it looks like folks are wearing short and long dresses. We will be taking a cruise next year and it will be the first formal night for us. I have several floor length gown that I am thinking about....can anyone tell me if folks do wear floor lenght gowns? We will be on RCCL.
I have not been on RCCL. however all of the cruises that I have done I've seen dresses in all lengths. I NEVER get to dress up except when I cruise, so I personally go with floor length. My husband also goes with a tux, which we don't see many of but don't care either. It's all about what you feel good in and want to wear.

Thanks everyone - I am absolutely thrilled to pieces and also grateful to Marie for her very generous spirit!
The problem now is my 23 yr old daughter who has already asked to 'permanently borrow' it? LOL (and she will love me forever......) hmmmmmm :D
Congratulations Froufie, enjoy your beautiful new bag.
Marie you are awesome to share as you do. A very rare gem you are.

Good morning ladies,
As promised, here is another bag. You can use it as shoulder bag or cross-body. It is Chloe Marcie Horseshoe Crossbody Satchel Bag. I bought it for my last cruise, but I did not use it. I used my Marc Jacob bag pack instead.
Again, please do not email me. Please post it here, I will have a drawing in a few days.
Please add my name to the drawer for the bag. I probably will never fit into any of your dresses but would be honored to have one of your bags.

Dang that's what was I afraid of! I'm little anyways (5'1, 100lbs) so I don't need any help looking young! :)
More to the point is the length of it, it states that the model is 5'9" in 4 1/2" heels, so at 5'1" you will definately have to have major alterations done to it.

Gorgeous as always Marie. Such a classy lady!

Feeling very lucky today, I went out and bought a Cash for Life lottery ticket (top prize is $2,000 a week for life).
Because I wanted to brighten someone else's day, I bought a ticket for the person standing behind me in line. They were so shocked.
Congratulations Burm on winning Marie's draw for the purse. It will be lovely on your arm. So very kind of you Marie to offer the draw.
What a kind thing you did Burm, hope your ticket is a winner.

I've sailed on Carnival, Holland and Norwegian and a jacket has never been a requirement. My husband prefers to wear a jacket, in fact as it's his only chance to wear it, he prefers to wear his tux. But I've never known it to be a requirement.
