  1. Thank you ladies for your prayers and kind wishes.

Debbie, Sharon and Sheri. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying for us.

I am checking in the hospital tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. The surgery is at 1:00 p.m. I will be spending a night in the hospital.

Take care ladies & sweet dreams.

    Marie

Prayers are with all of you ladies having surgery tomorrow as well as everyone else on this thread. What a wonderful group of people. Maria I have to follow the rest and say you are such a kind and generous soul with such class.

  2. Ladies (and gentlemen!)...

As I read back through this thread, I'm struck not only by the generosity and kindness but also the warmth of so many friendships, though most of us have never met.

There are several among us that are in need of healing right now - Lisa, Marie, and Sharon - and I'm sure I'm missing someone .. please forgive me. I also know there are those of us who are in need of prayer but have not made those needs known. God knows, and I believe he works his purpose out in his own time, in his own way.

While we get bogged down with every day life, and the purpose of this thread may be to recycle clothing, I'm fascinated by the friendships I've seen form among perfect strangers.

I hope those of you in need know you're covered in prayers and warm wishes. I pray for God's healing and comfort to surround you.

I hope all of you have a blessed day.

I have but one thing to say to that. AMEN!!!!!

  3. It's about as bad as me wanting to get a few of them taken in. But, it is time for me to move on past my old wardrobe.

This week I am moving all the "big" clothes that are in the 11 storage bins in my guest bedroom to garbage bags and taking them to a local thrift shop. All proceeds from the thrift shop go to Knox Area Rescue Ministries, a wonderful faith based homeless shelter. KARM is my pet charity and I teach a class in their Clean Start program that trains recovered drug addicts that live at KARM to become custodians and housekeepers. It's all about getting them off the streets, clean & sober, and providing job training.

Sounds like an amazing place to share your "big" clothes. I'm sure the ladies who are in need of this shelter will be thrilled to get them. Good for you Lisa. When it was finally time to let go of mine, took me awhile as I just knew it wasn't really happening, I passed mine on to flood victims. I do still have some of my cruise dresses left, which I need to get posted though.

  4. I am in heaven today!!!! Received beautiful black dress in mail from Lisa. It's a size 16, I knew I wouldn't be able to wear it just yet but am confident that by cruise time I can. This time last year I wore a size 28. Altho it was almost 1:00 in the morning when I got home with my new dress I just had to see. OMG, IT FIT!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Lisa!!!!!!! Did you get my PayPal payment?

  5. I too have been looking for two types of bags - one for the ship, which would be shoulder or cross body but small and chic - hold my essentials (sail pass card, makeup and maybe small itinerary for the day) and then another larger shoulder type bag for the ports. I will probably want to haul around a bottle of water, maps, lists of plans, sunscreen, rain hat or umbrella.

I would love to see pics of what others use to get some ideas of what works best!

    Thanks,

    Debbie

I too would be interested in seeing such pics, never knew about these bags, they sound like the perfect bags to have. Oops I should have just read further in the posts. I think I have some of the cross body bags and just didn't realize that's what they are.

  6. Hi, Sharon,

I am doing the full world voyage - 118 days Southampton to Southampton. I have been wanting to cruise around the world since 1996. I have loved each and every cruise I have been on (hated getting off the ship at the end) so I don't think I will get tired of ship life. My longest cruise so far was 2 weeks but I have spent a number of summers (I was a teacher) traveling and I don't mind being away from home for a long period of time. After years of coach tours the idea of unpacking once and letting the ship take me to destinations is very appealing. I also am a rotten cook and hate cooking so someone putting the food in front of me without me having to give it much thought is wonderful. I never get a chance to dress up so going on Cunard and dressing for dinner sounds fantastic (I guess I never grew out of playing "dress-up" as a kid).

I am going to write a blog during the cruise. I have never done one before so who knows how it will go. Unfortunately, I don't have a gift for writing like some of the great bloggers on here so I expect to include a number of pictures and minimal writing.

I write a blog on every cruise we go on then come home and put it all together along with the photos into a book that is then printed into a coffee table book. So far I have 3 of them. Those books are all 100 pages or more, from one week cruises, I can't imagine trying to do one with a 110 day cruise. I look forward to reading your blog.

  7. Hi ladies,

I have a whole pile of cruise clothes to share, I traded for them at a swap meet and so I wasn't able to try them on, and they just didn't suit me.

I didn't know if anyone here would be interested since they will be coming from Canada so the postage will be a little more expensive I think. Is there any interest?

I should also clean out my closet and post some shoes, but again postage is an issue. Would there be interest in costume jewelry as well?

I too live in Canada, so the shipping wouldn't be an issue. Just need to see the items and sizes.

I too need to take some photos and post them here, maybe now that we are finished with the Relay for Life Cancer walk, I'll have the time to get that done. BTW I walked 17 miles on Saturday and in two weeks time our three person team raised just over $1100!!!! Feels fantastic to give back in such a way.

  8. I was a bit upset last night when I received an email from one of the lady who received one of my gowns. She accused me of misrepresenting the gown; apparently she could not get into the gown. She also said, since she cannot wear my gown, therefore she should not have to pay for the postage. I told her to throw it in the trash :(.

I show my husband the email. He was upset too. He wanted me to take my clothes to the Goodwill. I have to think about this

I'm with these others ladies. Marie you are such a kind and generous class act. To be treated in such a way is just appalling. I wouldn't be so classy about this, I'd be calling this person out so that everyone else knew NOT to deal with her. I know she's reading these posts however and I have to say to that person is "shame on you". Heck I love your gorgeous gowns, but I'm not dillusional about my size and knew that altho I've lost a lot of dress sizes I'm not yet down to your size, therefore passed on your dresses this round. People know what size they were. I am so sorry Marie that you found that one bad apple in the batch.

  9. Oh, I know. Every 10-15 pounds or so I go down a cup size. The good thing about that is it's easier to buy blouses now. :D

    Lisa

Wow really? I've lost 110 pounds in just under a year. Altho my bra size has gone down a LOT, the cup size has only gone from a DDD to a DD. I'd be happy for the cup size to go smaller.

  10. Congrats on the weight loss! Its a great feeling. Email me closer to the date on how your size is going....I may have a couple of 16s that need new homes.

Thank you. I've made note of that. Chances are by October I'll be into a size 14. We'll see. Heck even if I stay right where I am right now I wouldn't complain I feel awesome these days!!! But would like to lose more still and get to either a size 12 or size 14. Not sure I'd look good smaller than that.

  11. This is a Coldwater Creek dress. To big for me now ......size is P14 Gold bodice overlaid with black lace satiny skirt Has a kind of scoop hem ...slightly shorter center front and back longer at sides.

I am in Canada so our postage is a little more expensive and shipping is a bit longer just letting you know. hoping i attatched this right!

    One more dress coming tonight

    email me at bchown@outlook.com

I love this dress. Not doing our cruise until Oct. Since last June I've gone from a size 28 to size 18. Wish I knew what size I'm going to be come October. Don't want to get anything that I can't wear. Thrilled to be losing the weight but making it hard to prepare for cruise to Bermuda.

  12. Can someone please tell me how this works. Looks like these are items we are recycling to other cruisers just for the cost of shipping right? I live in Canada so shipping to the US or other countries can get expensive.

Are there any ladies here that would be interested in dresses in a size 26W or 28W? I've recently lost 87 pounds and still working on it, am down to a size 18W so certainly have no use for the larger clothing any more. If there are interested ladies I'll happily post some pictures.
