  1. Our only options during the time we “all” can go are RCI’s Vision of the Seas or Carnival Valor. We are leaning toward going with Royal.

Good for you! We were on the Vision in December. We loved the ship, the service, the food, the room, and Captain Merek! The Vision is the perfect size for us. Not too big and not too small. No lines and not too many people.

  2. Seem to be inching closer to a deal to build a 3rd cruise terminal fueling speculation that an Oasis class ship will home port in Galveston!

It might be good for the economy here but I will not be boarding one of those monster ships. Too many people and waiting in lines. Way too much walking. I'll stick to the smaller ships. 😊

  3. If you want to avoid the room service charge ask your Dining Room waiter/waiteress to box up a Cheese Platter or something non perishable to either bring back to the stateroom or for the show.

I am going to try this tip I learned on Royal Caribbean Blog and ask them for an extra cheese platter to have during the show along with a slice of cake.

Or for a midnight snack bring something that is easy to refrigerate like a slice of cake or the cheese platter. You can go up to the Windjammer and supplement it with other goodies.

    Have you tried this?

We haven't tried doing that in the MDR but yes, we've brought plates of food back to our room from the Windjammer. :D

  4. Our rooms are always too warm for us, at night the coldest it ever got was down to 74 with an average around 75 in the daytime. I will bring a fan, but we also choose a room that the ac vents are near the closets where the beds are if you get a cabin where the bed is by the balcony it feels warmer as the ac is further from that bed.

75 is much too warm for me to get a good night's sleep. I keep my home AC 68 at night and 71 during the day. In my cruise cabin, I keep it as low as possible. :D

  5. Having returned from the cruise in 1854 I can confirm it has no suite benefits at all. We were issued with blue sea pass cards, not even JS silver ones. Front desk staff indifferent, claiming it’s an ocean view, tried explaining it was newly re categorised as an Ocean view Panoramic suite.

Had to escalate to guest relation manager who has taken this up with Miami. He along with us checked many sailings and this VP suite was more expensive than GS and on occasion OS. We were lucky as had DP so could use the concierge lounge. Be warned, if you have no status and pay top dollar for this “suite” that actually is a suite by name only you will get no suite benefits at all.

Regarding the cabin itself , the views are great, however on Indy it’s below the golf course, somebody decided to screw BOSE speakers to the deck , the music was left on all night which came thru to the cabin, loud base music. Again, we had to chase management to get this turned off at night.

It is also above the gym, one night , around 11pm, boom boom boom music , this time from the gym. I went down and of course closed to guests so went in the back way to see the staff working out. Spoke with the gym guy and pointed out to him that now there were cabins above and to ask the staff to use headphones ,tbh totally oblivious.

Despite speaking with the GRM on a few issues no contact from the hotel director which in my opinion is poor customer service. Would not book these cabins again

Ok...I was pretty skeptical about this post (Poster didn't say how everything turned out) so I just called RC myself and asked about this room (1854). We have it booked on the Liberty. The guy put me on hold for about 5 minutes so he could get me the CORRECT answer. I told him I was glad to wait because I needed to know FOR SURE if I would get DOUBLE POINTS for that room. He said ABSOLUTELY YES. I'm a happy camper!!!:hearteyes::hearteyes:
