  1. We stay at the Renaissance in Amsterdam (4 nights in early June). Not far from port area, though you need to cab there. Convenient to Centraal Station for tram and/or train anywhere. Movenhotel is really cut off from the city across train tracks- it seemed like it would be quite a hike to get anywhere. There is also a lot of construction in the area that impacts traffic and pedestrian flow.
  2. Since she is being sold 7/1/19 I imagine some things are being held together with spit and polish. We are on the next to last crusie on her and hope they maintain her decently.
  3. Go to The West Deck- it's to the right as you come up to the main street, past the souvenir shacks, past the marina and Seaport Casino, past the park to a little place on the beach with great food.
  4. We booked a cruise onboard and got onboard credits, paid gratuities, air credit!
  5. We were on the Veendam in April- I think there was an outlet on the desk and one on the wall (TV, VCR plug). Our steward set it up for my husband's CPAP with an extension cord. I always cruise with at least a 9' cord just in case. Also, an lightening/micro USB adapter that you can use to charge a couple of phones/tablets is a good idea.
  6. We booked the Scotland/Ireland itinerary for June 3, 2019, her next to last cruise. What a sad surprise! We sailed once around Ireland and I love her size!
  7. Just off the Veendam Cuba cruise. There were some men in tuxes and women in very dressy outfits, but the majority of men wore long pants and collared shirts, women wore nice pants and dressy-ish tops.
  8. Probably better to do this at Eagle Beach. Palm Beach is the high rise area and while there are some vendors, the beach is pretty full with chairs from the hotels. There is a beach club between the Marriott Surf Club and the Holiday Inn but the name escapes me- it's a also a restaurant.

    Port Area

A great dining option is The West Deck at the far side of Wilhelmina Park. We also like the Dutch Pancake House in Renaissance Marketplace. There are lots of restaurants and stores in town. There is a free trolley that leaves from the port and does a loop thru the backside of the main drag, which has shopping and snack places. There are 2 mall areas along the main street. For jewelry, I have shopped for years at Pearl Gems and Shiva's, and always find them reliable and fairly priced.
  10. THanks- we are really looking forward to the trip.
