  1. yeah, you're right. $20 per day is a minimum amount to pay. I just don't because it works out for me, but if I felt inconvenienced or anything, I'd definitely pay it. I'm actually considering taking the package on my next cruise and upgrading to the premium drink package. I would do it so I can drink Macallan all week, but I'm nervous from seeing the posts about drink shortages these days. I would be bummed to pay for the package and upgrade only to be told that the one drink I'm doing it for is out
  2. was on the Getaway in October. We were switched to Nassau. NCL knew before we left, but didn't inform us before hand. I found out when looking at the excursion sheet when I got onboard and it had Nassau as a stop. I thought it was a typo at first, but when I asked some at guest services, the confirmed that we were indeed going to Nassau instead of Puerto Plata. I really was looking forward to that stop the most (a lot of folks on the ship were also), so much so that I'm booked on the Escape for next April that is supposed to stop in DR. I got my fingers crossed.....
  3. ahhh, nevermind. I think the $20/day is for comped cruises. You have a discounted cruise
  4. I've done 6 cruises (with a 7th scheduled for April), all thru CAS. My last cruise was a comp slot tournament cruise thru CAS. All the others have been certificates from land based casinos. After applying either a cruise next or cruise first, I'm using to spending under $500 out of pocket for a cruise (I usually travel solo). that's including the DSC. I'm curious how you only have $90 as the admin fee. I thought the fee was $20/day (I've always paid that amount). I do cancel the free at sea drink package rather than pay the gratuities that come with it. The drinks at the casino bar is plenty good enough for me and I can also get waters and cans of soda. I'm limited to one bar, but that's never been inconvenient for me
  5. Sounds like a lot of people have experience in not being charged anything extra. If you were to be charged, it would not be at the new rate. It's the date that you booked your cruise that determines what rate you fall under, provided you pre-pay the DSC. You don't have to pay it before January first. You just have to book the cruise by January first and pay before sailing . So you won't have to worry about option 3
  6. Ok, maybe that was something different. I didn't know you could charge a CC directly in the casino. Usually the change is to your onboard account and this is where you would see the 3% charge.
  7. Or just write "none of your business " and turn the form in. I say that to be funny, but I actually had a rep tell me to just write"personal "
  8. yeah, they really doing it tricky right now. The price you see when you search for the sailing is half price from the "regular" price and charged per person: So that is why you see the price for the cabin as 2 times the listed price, instead of just once (with the 2nd person being free) as you would expect. So, the bottom line price doesn't change at all. It's just a trick to make you think a promotion is going on
  9. you can. just know that there is a 3% fee. There is also a daily limit, but I'm not sure what that limit is
  10. no. Honestly, this idea that the staff knows is news to me. Not that I would care
  11. This was at some point during the week (I believe the 2nd or 3rd day) when I filled out the form. The DSC continued to hit my account each day, then on the last day all the charges dropped off. The guest services agent explained to me that it would work this way, so I was not concerned to see it being added to my bill each day.
  12. I've done it as recently as this past October. they don't give you a hard time at all. You fill out the form and give it back. No questions were asked at all by the guest service agent
  13. removing the DSC is an easy and straight forward process. You go to guest services and say you want to remove the DSC. They will give you a form to fill out. there is a section on the form for you to put a reason, but it doesn't matter what you put in there. You can simply put "personal" in the box. You will still the the daily charge hit your account each day. Then on the last night, all the charges will drop off. that is how it works if you remove the DSC completely. I don't know how they do the charges/adjustments if you simply change the amount of the DSC. I'm guessing you'd see the full charge each day, then they will adjust the amount accordingly on the last night
  14. No, you can go to guest services and have them adjusted or removed. You don't have to wait until after the cruise. You probably wouldn't have much luck after the cruise
  15. if you happen to gamble on land based casinos and receive a certificate or NCL discount thru that casino, you get a drink card no matter your standing with NCL. you don't have to cycle thru any $$$ on NCL to earn the card
  16. It's really not about the total amount and whether it breaks the bank or not. We all decide what we're willing to spend money on. While I enjoyed having coffee delivered every morning, I'm not willing to pay $5 for it. I can just go to the buffet, get some coffee, and return to my cabin to get showered/dressed. That being said, I have no problem going to the craps table and putting $100 on the pass line. I'll miss the coffee delivery, but I'm not pissed or anything. I just put it into the "oh well" category. My cruise will not by any less awesome because of it
  17. oh. You may be right. I didn't realize there was anything you had to pay for. I thought everything was free, but there was simply a room service charge. I definitely wouldn't pay for anything I could go get from the buffet for free
  18. there is 20% gratuity, so it's $6 per day. the $2 delivery tip would be what you'd choose to give the delivery person, but it's in addition to the 20% already added to the order
  19. the problem is you're only opting out of the gratuities. You're still paying for the drink package in the cruise fare
  20. on NCL, you get whatever promo is being offered when you book. Right now, 3rd and 4th guest are free, so if you have a NCL comp, now would be a good time to book
  21. oh well, I guess I'll add a coffee travel mug to my packing list. I'll go up to the buffet and fill it up in the morning
  22. I really hope this is not true. I really enjoyed my carafe of coffee delivered each morning to have while I got dressed, along with a danish, muffin, or yogurt.
