  1. Bring a fridge thermometer, having found out the temp your insulin needs. At least on HAL, the cabin refrigerators are actually 'coolers' that reduce the ambiant temperature from the room's by so many degrees, but not to your kitchen fridge's temp. More like some home wine units. On HAL, diabetics and others with meds that need to be kept cold, are cautioned to let the infirmary hold them. ETA: Cole's link in post #3 says they have medical coolers for rent! New one for me. They then list which ships have mini-bar fridges, implying that they are cool enough... Trust, but verify!
  2. Nothing free that isn't free to anyone. MAYBE an additional sale or two (but there are specials all the time anyway). The Spa Verandahs come with some flavored Vitamin Water and some larger water bottles. The USE of a yoga mat, Ipod dock, and pedometers; none of which are yours to keep. The balconies are shallow. The locations are handy to the Lido, Spa, and Crows Nest. Here is a review: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/10031-koningsdam/ Here is what I wrote to SonomaMist:
  3. Thermal Suite 7-Day on Koningsdam in January "Starts at $149". " Heated Loungers, Hydrotherapy Pool, available on select vessels." (so may be additional?) https://book2.hollandamerica.com/content/hal/cruise-experience/assets/spa-brochure.pdf The Spa Verandahs have very shallow balconies, reported to hold two chairs and no table. These were under-booked cabins that were re-branded as Special! Here is a review: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/10031-koningsdam/ You get some electrolyte waters, and THE USE OF a not-new yoga mat, i-pod type dock with speakers, and pedometers. Some ships (N.Amsterdam) show a little desk-top waterfall (noise maker). The locations are nice and I actually had two adjoining ones booked on the Nieuw Amsterdam for next month, but had to cancel.
  4. From Celebrity's FAQs/Prohibited Items: "Candles, Incense, Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, Travel Steamers & Hot Plates. (Items that generate heat or produce an open flame. This includes heating pads, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense and any other item that may create a fire hazard. NOTE: The only exception to this policy are curling irons and hair straighteners. Matches and normal lighteners are allowed onboard. However ""torch lighters"" and novelty lighters that look like guns are not allowed onboard. Torch lighters emit a powerful concentrated flame, and therefore are prohibited." There are many other prohibited items, of course, but this is the section that applies to you! https://www.celebritycruises.com/faqs/before-you-board ETA: Welcome to Cruise Critic!
  5. This is correct. The Vista Suite (bought as an upsell) was a good size for three adults. Three banks of dresser-drawers, three closets plus one with shelves, the sofa bed flipped lengthwise and so was comfortable without the ribs of a shore-side fold-out sofabed. The stewards made up the sofa every day, so there was plenty of room to socialize and have a glass of wine (open area was toward the balcony). There are of course also Neptune and Pinnacle Suites (!). The Volendam is the same excepting she was re-fit with 21 Lanai cabins on the [Lower] Promenade... which are sort of like balconies, onto the biggest balcony on the ship!
  6. I was answering assuming a round-trip (with stop in Ensenada) not a one-way. Bruce and others are right about one-ways from California not being available.
  7. Has anyone successfully taken La Croix flavored seltzer? Seems like it is closer to soda than water...
  8. The Find a Cruise search at the top of any Cruise Critic page says LA-HI: many Princess, one Seabourne, a few Carnival. SD-HI: Several HAL, one Princess. Just a place to start!
  9. From Holland America's FAQs: "All checked and carry-on luggage will be scanned and any prohibited items, including alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages will be removed, confiscated, and discarded." (underlining mine)
  10. Alcohol in luggage is definitely disposed of on at least some lines.
  11. OP should carefully research the FAQs and forbidden/restricted lists of the specific cruise line. As the various citations above so, there is no consistent policy. There is no guarantee that trying to take a forbidden drone in luggage would result in it being confiscated and returned -- somethings are simply disposed of! Good drones are expensive!
  12. Pre-COVID, with SBP, you handed over your card, but it came back without a paper slip. I would assume the SBP within HIA would be the same.
  13. @puppycanducruiseis correct (I misremembered on the high side! Roger Jett's great resource shows $29.44 ($24.95+18%) pp for the day's beverages on HMC. The same limit of $11/drink price cap and all adults in a cabin must buy.
