  1. Hey cruisers! Just like the title says. We currently are booked with 2 connecting interior rooms on Liberty of the Seas and have the choice to switch to 1 balcony (E1) just down the hall for the same cost.

We are cruising as a family of 4 for the first time (previous cruises were before kids) so it is myself, husband, and our 3 and 4 year olds. The appeal of having that extra bathroom and double the space is appealing, but gosh a balcony is temping!

    What would you do?

With kids that young...interior is better and more safe than a balcony. They could move tables and chairs to stand on in a balcony----dangerous

  2. I did forget we were in the exact same room so they didn't have us remove anything

My sister was on a b2b in same cabin once. She had to get off the ship between the two, but thought she could leave her things in her cabin for the next sailing. When she got back to the cabin, everything had been cleaned out leaving none of her belongings. Evidently, there was a change in cabin steward that didn't check to see why all this stuff was still in the cabin. Luckily, they did find her clothes and cleaned them for her. Her toiletries of brush, toothpaste, perfume, etc were a loss. She received $500 OBC for the next leg for the trouble....so you never know.

  3. I just received an email saying our documents are ready for Sept 3 cruise out of Galveston.I know I can do it now, but I was wondering if I should wait until sometime in August. I live in Houston and wonder about any tropical development that might interfere with the cruise. I do have the insurance with RCI. What are your thoughts?

  4. I'm referring more to necessary expenses, not add-ons like gambling/shopping/excursion money. Like what kind of expenses are not covered in the price of the room that you should definitely plan on spending? I'm planning on getting the beverage package, so with that and not dining in specialty restaurants, food and drink should be covered. I've read that there is also an 18% charge with that package, so does that cover tips? Who should be tipped that is not covered already and is there anything that you need cash for that cannot be paid for with a card? I've never been on a cruise before where I was in charge of the finances, so I'm trying to figure it all out well in advance as to not be blindsided with unexpected charges.

Don't drink anything from the fridge in the cabin...there is a charge for those

  5. It is a good idea to complain to customer service, it helps. On a recent cruise on a another line, the ship's photographers went into the kids camp and took pictures of the children. These proofs were available where all other pictures are displayed. The problem--the child's name and cabin were clearly visible on there name tag. Not too much of a problem for the little ones who can't leave the kids area without parent. But the kids about 9-10 or older who could sign themselves out...... I contacted the youth program department on the ship about safety for the children and also customer service after we got home. Needless to say, there were no more photographs taken with the children's name tag and cabin number
