No Jimbo, I did not expect Carnival ships to change while I was gone. It just was a reminder of why I was ready to try something new. I also met many NCL cruise critic members while on our trip and none of them were snarky.
Bazinga!
we were supposed to board Caribbean Princess today. We arrived to the terminal at 10.30 a.m. There were NO representatives from the cruise company,no information, no food or drinks. People were sitting in the cold cars for many hours. There were 2 portable toilets and long -long lines. Why we were treated like animals. Why Princess reps could not come and inform people? We left the terminal at 16.00 to go to eat and other passengers informed us that there would be no ship. Their travel agent told them. It is not the way to treat customers. Shame and disgrace. You Princess ruined our cruise. We were lucky to get a hotel room together with other unhappy passengers and heard all kinds of comments from them.
The fog ruined your cruise. Make the best of it. -
No flavored creamer , but the coffee is decent. You need to either wear your swim suit or take it with you. Personal belongings are safe on the tour bus.

Nice review. We went on The cruise after yours. We had some of the same feelings as you. We will not be cruising carnival again for the same reasons. Poor MDR food quality, sad entertainment, lousy buffet. Also the Miracle just screams dated. Agree with you that the new pizza is terrific. We have cruised Princess several times before this one and the difference is remarkable. A much better fit for us. Mainly the quality, variety and availability of food is so much better on Princess.

I agree that there are a lot of nasty threads, but usually - or at least it's my perception - that the OP is usually just as guilty at contributing to the nastiness. This is one of the first I've seen where the OP was genuinely asking for help and the majority of responses were insulting and accusatory. I feel like I want to apologize to the OP. Maybe I need to find a cruise board that's just as active as this one but has nicer members. Hmmmm.
Try the Princess board. Recently took my first Princess cruise, and was on that board. I was amazed how polite everyone was over there. No rudeness, no sniping, just folks trying to be helpful.

Glad you had a nice cruise. I'm not a big fan of The new policy. It makes it harder to pack your booze in your luggage if you are flying home.

I was charged for two bottles of champagne, when I only ordered one. Went to The pursers desk to get it fixed. They did practically accuse me of lying. They did investigate. Removed the second charge. It happens. Just an oversight, I'm sure.

To the OP,
Lets say you are the CEO of a company that has a product that sells for x dollars and makes you a HUGE profit. Your customers are very happy. Laughing, clapping and carrying on as if they don't feel ripped off. They come back for more day after day. Your profits become even better!
You would throw those profits away because they were not "fair"?
Bless your little socialist heart!! :D
If I were a stockholder in this company of yours you would be sacked faster than you can yell "Bingo!"
Since when did profit become such a bad word?
I have never seen anyone FORCED to spend one cent for ANY extras on Princess. You can remove tips from your account. You need not do any ships tours, bingo or go to the casino. You wont die of hunger or thirst if you only have what is included. Far from it actually! Photos? When has someone put them under your nose and begged you to buy?
Other people losing money? Mind your own....... oh well, hope you enjoyed something.

Nice ethics.

The parade is on CBS and NBC.

I believe you are thinking of Royal Caribbean. I could be wrong.

Yeah (waving pompoms) !

Had the old menu just recently on the Miracle. Had the new menu on the Imagination. Much prefer the new menus. There was actually more variety and the food was tastier.

Most likely these boats come loose from their moorings and drift out to sea.

I second the Red Frog Pub Quiz suggestion! We went most nights and it was a blast.
I must be in the minority in that I didn't think Gatsby's Garden was very nice. True, it's quiet and a good spot to get away from the crowd, but it's a fake garden. Then again, Carnival decor is not my thing, so I don't think there were any areas of the ship I thought were beautiful. We spent a lot of time in The Fountainhead Cafe as well, just because it was a good spot for reading, etc. in between trivia sessions.
Gatsbys Garden looks like a 70s Vegas wedding chapel.

Part of the reason we prefer Princess. IMHO it makes for a nicer experience.

Just off the Miracle last week. Trivia is in The fountainhead lounge, deck 2. The shows are staggered so both dinner seating can see the show. Taste bar was open 3 nights, I think 5:30 to 8:30. Try The new style pizza, we really enjoyed it. While our cruise was ok, we were not impressed with the Miracle.

It is served in the MDR at breakfast and brunch. It is on the room service breakfast menu/door hanger. You can purchase it at the bar. Just curious, what medical condition requires drinking tomato juice? Don't mean to be nosey, just never heard of that.

A pulmonia should be around 6 bucks.

They are not like a crib. They are like a play pen. Maybe a bit smaller.

St. Thomas cokie (sp) beach. Super clear water and bring dog treats the Sargent majors love them. You can stand in waist deep water and feed the fish or snorkel out deeper and see lots of different things. Powdery white sand and just beautiful
Plus you can smoke weed with the locals.

Not a bit. The quieter they are, the better.

No can do.

We got the journals. Why didn't you ask your room steward?
Didn't think about it. Don't want the journal anyway. Only platinum gift I used was the binoculars.
8 time Carnival cruiser tries NCL
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Tapi, We had a similar experience. We were RCCL cruisers. We loved it. But RCCL abandoned the west coast. So Carnival was what we chose. After several Carnival cruises I got a wild hair and booked our first ever Princess cruise. What a difference. The ship was nicer than any Carnival ship we have been on. The food was better. The variety and creativity was better. And the availability was better. The Horizon court buffet is open from 6am until 11pm, with no closures in between. No coming back from an excursion and The buffet is closed and The food choices being limited. The entertainment was superior. Yes the room is smaller, but who cares? I have a couch at home. The demographic was more our speed. The afternoon tea experience is very nice. Just a better all around fit for us. The moral of the story: sleep around,it's fun.
