1. We did 9 Carnival cruises in a row until we had the same "epiphany". Nothing really wrong with Carnival. Just ready to try something new. Ever since, we haven't repeated the same cruise line two times in a row and the experience has been fantastic, simply because every time we step on a new ship, we feel like newbies all over again. :)

We haven't been on NCL, but would definitely love to give them a try. I just need to find the right ship and the right itinerary. I'd love to do the Escape but I refuse to spend that kind of money on a ship that goes to Nassau. [emoji13]

Tapi, We had a similar experience. We were RCCL cruisers. We loved it. But RCCL abandoned the west coast. So Carnival was what we chose. After several Carnival cruises I got a wild hair and booked our first ever Princess cruise. What a difference. The ship was nicer than any Carnival ship we have been on. The food was better. The variety and creativity was better. And the availability was better. The Horizon court buffet is open from 6am until 11pm, with no closures in between. No coming back from an excursion and The buffet is closed and The food choices being limited. The entertainment was superior. Yes the room is smaller, but who cares? I have a couch at home. The demographic was more our speed. The afternoon tea experience is very nice. Just a better all around fit for us. The moral of the story: sleep around,it's fun.

  2.
we were supposed to board Caribbean Princess today. We arrived to the terminal at 10.30 a.m. There were NO representatives from the cruise company,no information, no food or drinks. People were sitting in the cold cars for many hours. There were 2 portable toilets and long -long lines. Why we were treated like animals. Why Princess reps could not come and inform people? We left the terminal at 16.00 to go to eat and other passengers informed us that there would be no ship. Their travel agent told them. It is not the way to treat customers. Shame and disgrace. You Princess ruined our cruise. We were lucky to get a hotel room together with other unhappy passengers and heard all kinds of comments from them.
The fog ruined your cruise. Make the best of it.
  3. Nice review. We went on The cruise after yours. We had some of the same feelings as you. We will not be cruising carnival again for the same reasons. Poor MDR food quality, sad entertainment, lousy buffet. Also the Miracle just screams dated. Agree with you that the new pizza is terrific. We have cruised Princess several times before this one and the difference is remarkable. A much better fit for us. Mainly the quality, variety and availability of food is so much better on Princess.

  4. I agree that there are a lot of nasty threads, but usually - or at least it's my perception - that the OP is usually just as guilty at contributing to the nastiness. This is one of the first I've seen where the OP was genuinely asking for help and the majority of responses were insulting and accusatory. I feel like I want to apologize to the OP. Maybe I need to find a cruise board that's just as active as this one but has nicer members. Hmmmm.

Try the Princess board. Recently took my first Princess cruise, and was on that board. I was amazed how polite everyone was over there. No rudeness, no sniping, just folks trying to be helpful.

  5. To the OP,

Lets say you are the CEO of a company that has a product that sells for x dollars and makes you a HUGE profit. Your customers are very happy. Laughing, clapping and carrying on as if they don't feel ripped off. They come back for more day after day. Your profits become even better!

You would throw those profits away because they were not "fair"?

Bless your little socialist heart!! :D

If I were a stockholder in this company of yours you would be sacked faster than you can yell "Bingo!"

Since when did profit become such a bad word?

I have never seen anyone FORCED to spend one cent for ANY extras on Princess. You can remove tips from your account. You need not do any ships tours, bingo or go to the casino. You wont die of hunger or thirst if you only have what is included. Far from it actually! Photos? When has someone put them under your nose and begged you to buy?

Other people losing money? Mind your own....... oh well, hope you enjoyed something.

    Nice ethics.

  6. I second the Red Frog Pub Quiz suggestion! We went most nights and it was a blast.

I must be in the minority in that I didn't think Gatsby's Garden was very nice. True, it's quiet and a good spot to get away from the crowd, but it's a fake garden. Then again, Carnival decor is not my thing, so I don't think there were any areas of the ship I thought were beautiful. We spent a lot of time in The Fountainhead Cafe as well, just because it was a good spot for reading, etc. in between trivia sessions.

Gatsbys Garden looks like a 70s Vegas wedding chapel.

  7. St. Thomas cokie (sp) beach. Super clear water and bring dog treats the Sargent majors love them. You can stand in waist deep water and feed the fish or snorkel out deeper and see lots of different things. Powdery white sand and just beautiful

Plus you can smoke weed with the locals.
