  1. To the "lady" who took my Yeti cup from the Casino restroom on the April 9 Carnival Freedom. Obviously you don't know about the curse inflicted on those who dare to steal a treasured Yeti.

You will gain 40 pounds. (One for each $ I paid for the cup.)

Your butt will double in size.

Your feet will swell and you'll get a cold sore every time you drink from it.

Your teeth will turn yellow and crack.

Your hair will turn gray and fall out.

You'll sprout a black mustache and chin hairs.

The next time you find an item on a cruise, do the honorable thing and turn it in to lost and found and I might consider lifting the curse.

I blame myself for being so stupid when I left it unattended for 5 minutes. I used to have trust in my fellow cruisers, never again.

I'm having the new one engraved with "STOLEN FROM (my name)" and it will never get to enjoy cruising!

Must have been quite a cup.

  2. Any change the buffet will be open late due to the delayed boarding or not at all? I know there will be plenty to eat but I'm just curious. :)

The buffet on Princess stay open from early morning until late at night. Plus there is room service and pizza. No worries mate.

  3. In the past I have enjoyed the food in the MDR. However on our last cruise on the Miracle, I felt the same was as you. Buffet food was just plain bad. All the beef dishes were rubbery. Chicken was overcooked and dry. However the pizza was outstanding. The MDR was hit and miss. Some things were good some were not, nothing was great. I am a trained chef (Culinary Institute, New Orleans School of Cooking), so my opinion is a bit more than just subjective. Cheaper cuts of meat can be made tender and tasty. But I feel Carnival has just given up. We now cruise Princess and the difference is remarkable. The buffet food is quite good and the selection is great. At breakfast you order your fresh cooked eggs and they will bring them to your table. No waiting around. The MDR is terrific and the staff really cares. The variety is creative. Dinner there is a real treat, not a crap shoot. Next cruise try Princess and enjoy the difference.

  4. I just got the same email notice and was wondering the same thing. We board Saturday also. Fingers crossed. Don't really want to spend a week in my cabin. But I don't think they will be sanitizing for practice. Yikes.

  5. I would agree that Princess is the best of the three. The food on my most recent princess cruise was terrific. The roast pheasant was to die for. Also their pizza is terrific. International Cafe has great desserts. However I think Carnival is the worst of the lot. The food on our Carnival cruise last year was disappointing, to say the least.

  6. Yes, I was here early, if you call 1000 such. But not to board the ship until 1230 is unacceptable. Never have had this problem at Celebrity. Wanted to try something new, but I will be returning to my Elite status over there.

Ooooooo....elite status, I'm so impressed. Obviously you are special. You should have told them about that at embarcation.

  7. In San Diego, do the Hop on and Hop off. Don't purchase it from Princess as it's more expensive. There's a terminal right off the ship you can walk to and purchase the tickets there. When you get off the ship and get to the main street, go right and walk down about a block. We went to Coronado Island, then to Old Town and had lunch. You can stop at Balboa Park and walk around there. It's a great way to see San Diego. Also takes you to the Sea Village which is the first stop. The drivers are great at pointing out different bits of information and trivia.

The coastal cruise was okay, we've been to those ports many times by car so for us it wasn't anything new and exciting other than being on a ship we've never been on before.

If you're going to Ensenada, do the wine tour. It's worth it and each passenger gets a free bottle of wine. You can also purchase wine from the wineries too (which we did).

Thanks for the tip on the hoho bus. I have lived in socal for 40 years so I have been to all these places many times. Was looking at doing something a bit different. The bus sounds cool. The wine tour is not an option as we both do not drink. We like to go to the bufador and have fish tacos. That never gets old. For 15 bucks the tour is a great day. It seems silly to take a cruise to California but the less than 900 price for two was an offer I could not refuse. Cheapest cruise I have ever been on. Have been on the Crown several times and love everything about it. Thanks for your help.
