  1. We fall into category B. We finally tried Princess and loved it. We will not be going back to Carnival. Sometimes, but not always, it costs a bit more but it is worth it. We were shocked how much better it was. The food at all venues was superior, the entertainment was terrific, and the demographic was , how shall in say it, more refined. Not stuffy. Just more civilized. As the old TV commercial used to say, try it, you'll like it.

  2. I agree with Tapi. We were carnival cruisers for the longest time, achieving platinum status. The only perk worth a Damn is the ability to board upon arrival. The rest is nothing. The first time we cruised Princess we were pleasantly surprised. It was so much better in every area. The food was so much better. The entertainment was terrific. The staff treated us terrifically. The ship's decor was elegant. The clientele was much less woohoo. We kick ourselves for not trying Princess earlier.

  3. Highly unlikely. The pool of men who might use her services is small on a cruise ship, since most men travel with their wives. Also if she were a hooker, she would have propositioned grandpa, that's what they do. Thirdly, it cost money to go on a cruise. Hookers like to keep their overhead low.

  4. I'm sitting here with a kitty on my lap, got the fire going WOT keeping it a cozy 84 inside, it's -3 outside and there's ice building up on the edges of the windows. Going to get 6" of snow later before turning to freezing rain.

Ran out of pop corn but will broil up some true MD crabcakes courtesy of G&M later today while the wife bakes a cake.

March 2nd is coming, then it's our turn to hit the high seas from a cabin just about at the water line, har har! But at least I won't have to stoke the fires to keep my feet from freezing. 100 year old chestnut planking feels like ice on bare feet this time of the year!

Can I come over? Sounds lovely

  5. I always leave the auto tip intact. I generally tip the steward 25 to 40 bucks, the waiter and assistant 40 bucks each, if the head waiter has done anything for me I tip him 10 bucks. My grandson enjoyed the kiddie programs so I tipped them 50 bucks. I generally tip a buck extra on a bar order. Once a husband and wife wait team was incredibly attentive to my 2 year old grandson and I tipped them a hundred bucks. The above tips reflect a one week cruise. Each to their own, but this is what I do.

  6. We took the 8 day Panama Cruise on the Freedom three times. Enjoyed all of them very much.

Last fall, Carnival had an 8 day on the Splendor doing the same rate. We booked. Our in-laws booked. Then they canceled the cruise to a Caribbean. We all cancelled.

then one day when I was sort of doing nothing on the Princess web site, I saw their ten day cruise with partial transit through the Canal. Columbia, Aruba, Panama, Costa Rica, Grand Cayman ...............I did a dummy booking and almost fell off of my chair. I did it again. I called Princess. We had a casino offer, which we had never had before ( we mostly sail on Carnival).............It took 30% off of the LOWEST fare for a category, paid gratuities..+.we get a free steak dinner at the steakhouse. It is a ten day cruise.

It is on the Coral Princess. We have a midship balcony on the Baha Deck for about what an inside would cost us now. We were lucky. It sails next December. Astonishing how that worked out. I really look forward to the cruise.

I WOULD BOOK CARNIVAL in a heartbeat if they put that 8 day Panama Cruise back on..

We just took this exact cruise in December. It was amazing. You're going to love it. The Coral is a gorgeous ship. The food was so far superior to Carnival. Be sure to attend the enrichment lectures. It adds so much to the cruise.
