  1. I booked the Magic for May too! We are hoping they add Guy's burgers during her dry dock in Feb/Mar. But we are happy with the ports and love leaving from Port Canaveral. And we're thrilled to try our first cove balcony! [emoji4]

  2. I did a search the other day and couldn't find anything. Can you share the name of the group?

It won't allow me to type the line but if you search on F B with Carnival Magic, May 21, 2016 it should come up!

  3. ImageUploadedByForums1437279219.792530.jpg.faf91ad717fcb2d854612c2f587d6b7d.jpg Somebody had to be babysat by security on the first night of our cruise on the Sunshine. It makes me laugh to think that grown adults will waste money on a vacation so recklessly. And I, too, wonder what infraction gets you arrested v. put off the ship at a foreign port. Or security at your door v. actually being detained in the ship's brig.
  4. I just booked my 2nd cruise with Carnival on the magic for May 21. Our previous cruise was on the Liberty in November and we had some issues that I am trying to avoid. I am kind of nervous about the Magic so here is my question. Is there a lot for kids to do on this ship or more things to do over the Liberty? We will be at sea 2 days so I want to make sure they have plenty to do and are not constantly harassing me by whining about how bored they are! We had some issues on the Liberty with the basketball court and mini golf shutting down at 5pm because of the paid restaurant and several times movies advertised as being shown were not. Overall the Liberty was not a great experience with a 10 & 11YO.

We are also booked on the May 21st of the Magic. My kiddos are 9 & 11. There is a page on another social media site for this sailing. ;) There are tons of kids the same age as our's. And although we haven't sailed on the Magic before, I did tons of research to make sure there was plenty for them to enjoy!

  5. Where is the ocean plaza?

On deck 5 on the Sunshine is Ocean Plaza. A dance floor in the evening, usually trivia during the day. It's adjacent to the Taste bar and Alchemy bar.

Similar on the Dream, deck 5 mid-ship.

    Hope that helps!

  6. We buy faster to the fun. It's well worth the cost to have the cabin ready and we can go straight there for our son to decompress and get familiar. Also, the luggage arrives quicker and we have a dedicated line at guest services. That's handy if your kid hates lines.

Carnival cannot, by law, ask for medical verification of a disability. We have tried a couple times using the special needs dept. and they allowed me to go thru security with our son then go to chairs to sit down while the rest of our party waited in the line for a check-in agent. Then we boarded with all the wheelchair and scooter folks. If you arrive to port a little later, around 1, then there's very little waits or lines. (Depends on the port too)

I'm not sure why you need priority disembark? You can wait comfortably in your cabin. You can let a port agent know in the terminal building and they try to help you with the line at customs but that's about all. I agree with the above poster about the muster drill-ask guest services once you board.

  7. This is very disappointing to hear. My son is almost 9 and we are nervous about moving into the last age bracket at Camp Carnival. We've also found that the size of camp carnival and circle C vary widely from ship to ship. Our son does not do well with a ton of kids crammed into a small space (Sunshine).

  8. just off sunshine. the girl that broke her leg was in st.kitts. she stayed in st.kitts with family on monday. the emergency happened on thurs (seaday). we were told that they were able to"save her life" because of airlifting her. her family had to stay behind on the ship.

they did a great job keeping us informed and working with everyone on travel. phones were turned on free of charge and extrs staff made available to help.

So it was two different incidents?

  9. I am a BIG fan of the Funship Special - but I think they are trying to call it something else now.

But...on the Victory in May I was introduced to the Shade-Ade . Tasty frozen lemonade with citrus vodka and a little grenadine to make it pink. VERY tasty and refreshing!

My fave!! My hubs thinks it's too lemony. Umm, hello it's lemonade!! [emoji23][emoji16]

  10. By my experience, and I've booked a 6k twice, I have never seen it on the Carnival site. And I even tried searching using the most expensive fun select rate. So in my experience what I said is true.

Obviously the OP booked the room, and I just wouldn't worry about being bumped. I think I recall someone on here being able to book the quad Freedom 6k for two as well. And others on here have posted similar luck. If this is for September of this year, maybe they went ahead and released the occupancy restrictions. September is not far away.

I just did a mock booking on a random date on the Sunshine and the category 6J and 6Ks are available.

They are most definitely available to be booked online without any help if they're available.

  11. On some TA websites, you can see the GSOVs. But never on Carnival's site. Ever. The regular scenics you can see, but not the bigger two. Even if they are available. OP did you see it open on another website?

Not true. We booked cabin 9107 on the Sunshine. I continued to do mock bookings and see if by some chance we would get price drop. One day cabin 9126 opened up and was available. I think the confusion when booking on Carnival's website is these categories are almost always not included in promotional fares. If you search by early saver or past guest they show up.

OP, these rooms are fantastic! You don't have to close the shades at night as you may read on older posts. The room never gets hot. The window is tinted and no one can see in from the outside either. Also, these rooms include a mini fridge.

We decided to stay in 9107 because 9126 had a double sofa bed and no upper bunk. Our kiddos need their own beds.

Here's our view of Grand Turk last month!
