We were on deck 11, cabin 11251, the view was fine. The more forward you are the more water you will see because the promenade deck is narrower closer to the bow.
The wider Lanai is in the middle of the ship, look at the deck plans and you should be able to see what will be beneath your balcony.
I love sitting on the balcony and looking out to sea and I could do that just fine. Standing at the rail and looking down I could see some of the promenade deck but I could still see the water. If you have to see the water hitting the ship than you should chose a cove balcony.
Hi Corvette Lady!
We recently booked a guarantee balcony on the Dream next month. We have always had interiors. Carnival assigned our cabin today and it's room 11251. When I was researching that cabin, this thread came up. I was hoping that you could share any pictures and experience with that cabin since you've stayed in it. We are traveling with our son and any pictures that we can show him would be very helpful! Thank you in advance!

So, did you ask for larger ones??
We asked for 4 online during our check-in and there were none. So we asked our steward and then he gave us two. Same steward also gave us two beach towels every day, even though he clearly made the room for four. We just laughed about the robes and enjoyed our vacation.

We recently cruised on the Caribbean Princess and were disappointed with a few things. This one was the most ridiculous. We requested robes for the 4 adults that were sharing one cabin. (Girls' getaway!) We had the best laugh at how pitifully small they were. Here's a picture of my sister, who is 5'1" and 110lbs, in the robe that Princess provides.

Thanks everyone for their opinions! I will have to make up my mind by tomorrow since that is the last day of the sale  I am so torn and DH is no help at all!
CruisingwithAutism
This is our first cruise and DD also has autism, any tips? She is 11 and pretty high functioning except she is non verbal.
We made a few social stories with lots of pictures from the internet so our DS knew what to expect. We also purchase Faster to the Fun so we can avoid as many lines as possible. And once we board we can then go straight to our cabin to chill for a few minutes. I recommend F2F if it's available. Also, remember there is a security line and at check-in, a picture is taken of each guest for their sign and sail card. This was a major challenge to get our little guy to look at the camera and be still.
We also visit the kids club during open house so we can show him around. (Where the bathroom is, because he can't ask, etc..) We take a ton of pictures on his ipod/ipad during these first few hours on the ship, so later he can show us the picture if he's requesting something. (The hot tub was very popular! LOL) You can request an onboard cell phone from the kids club (I email the special needs dept before we cruise to give them his details and to request one). This way the club can call you,and you can also call them to check on her. We have always had great experiences with Carnival. They're very patient and allowed him to do other activities if he was over-stimulated. We take headphones for his ipod for dinner and deck parties. This is helpful when it's loud, he can try to tune it out.
The scenic oceanview room for us is brilliant because he loves to sit and look at the water but we don't have to be constantly supervising as we would on a balcony
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions.

Question, I am a very informed cruiser, but I have never heard about a "scenic ocenview". From what I have been reading here seems like a front view of the ship. I am a balcony kind of guy but this sounds great too.
They're only on a few ships. They are all the way forward, above the bridge, with floor to ceiling windows. Cat 6J is the pic I posted. There are also cat 6k which are corner rooms on the same deck with two of those huge windows!!

We have a scenic ocean view (cat 6J) booked on the Sunshine. We are thrilled! We wanted the extra cabin space and also the view without our kids constantly opening and closing the balcony door. (Or listening to our neighbor's closing their's!)

It was not crowded at all on the Dream. Maybe because it was on deck 5 and nobody knew it was there. Some things were better than others and I was confused why they had tastes of restaurants not actually on the ship?

After the final payment date, lower prices are usually only for new bookings only. If that is the case with the lower price you are seeing, it is unlikely (though not impossible) you might get some benefit from the lower pricing.
Not much different from buying a car and then seeing a lower price on it two weeks later. Ot buying items at a grocery store and seeing a reduced priced the following week.
Thanks for the reply. We have booked with Carnival in the past and always had price protection. Up until two days before we cruise we can receive the reduction. Still waiting for the TA to reply. My sister is Platinum with Princess so maybe that will help.

We booked two weeks ago on the Caribbean Princess and paid in full. Now, they start this sale! Ugh. Prices dropped $600 for our sailing in our category (we have 4 in our cabin). Anyone know if Princess will give us OBC for the difference? Seems a big drop in two weeks. :(

My sister booked us on the Caribbean princess Aug 23 also in an obstructed oceanview. We booked two weeks ago and paid in full. Now a sale has started and the price has dropped $609 for the same category room. She's calling the travel agent now and we are hopeful for some OBC. This will be my 1st time on Princess and I will be more than disappointed if they do nothing about the price drop. Does anyone have experience with this after the PIF date?
Thanks, Kelly

From room service, chicken wings and chocolate chip cookies!

We had an interior cabin on deck 8. No a/c problems. My husband successfully froze us into ice cubes every night.

We were on a Disney cruise for spring break and as we are standing in the buffet line, my daughter says Hey casually to a kid walking by. When I asked, she said it was a kid from her class. OMG!!! She didn't understand that this was a big deal and how far we were from home. We found the kid later and made them pose for a picture together with the Nassau lighthouse in the background. Their teacher loved it. I guess kids really don't talk much at school!

Savannah is such a beautiful city to visit. A cruise port would be fantastic. Is there a major airport there? Do cities make huge concessions like deepening the channel without any real sort of commitment? Seems like they would be spending millions on just hoping to lure a cruise line. Maybe that's the common practice?
At any rate, fingers crossed, because we sure miss Mobile!

John Heald confirmed the dates for Elation's dry dock and it was late Sept/early Oct 2014. But he wasn't specific on what she would get. Sometimes I wonder if Carnival has even decided or if they're still making a game plan. The Waterworks area on the Fascination is my family's favorite so we're hoping the Elation gets that too. I'm almost willing to gamble and book something for next spring...almost.

Same here! Maybe this means that Carnival is getting ready to release the much anticipated 2015 itineraries for all the ships!

We booked FTTF for our Halloween Dream cruise. And we are not paid in full yet. If it's available, buy it pronto! And remember you only pay $49.95 per cabin not each guest. Happy sails!

Woo hoo! I got FTTF too! We haven't decided about Jamaica. But we definitely will not explore on our own there. Only get off if we have an excursion booked. Only 185 days to go!

Yep, Oct. 26th on the Dream!
It's a small world. Your username rings true to me as well. It will be myself, my husband, and my autistic brother in law. We're sharing a deluxe Ocean View 6M. I can't wait. While I do hope we both get lucky, even if we don't, embarkation through NO is easy enough, especially if you get there early. I wanted FTTF for the tendering port and other benefits.
Same for us-we loved having immediate access to our cabin to put our things away. Didn't think about tendering, that would be helpful, too!
210 days to go!
