Hi threesister. I honestly don't know if there is any difference. If you can get 5344 or 5345, they are larger. The far end staterooms on both sides are suites.

5345 looks the same size on deck plans? Is it an accessible room? Usually those cabins have less furniture/closets and have more floor space.

Nearly as exciting as booking a cruise, is speculating about next year's itineraries and homeports! I'm glad to hear the Magic's going to PC. Would love to see a different ship in NOLA to do the 4/5 day sailings. The Elation is showing her age..

But I'm not holding my breath for Monday. JH never delivers on the promised date. (as I sit waiting for an update CD list..)

If booked early saver with a reduced 50% deposit, does that have any effect on qualifying for price drops?

No, you're still eligible for lower rates but keep in mind that you may have to pay the full deposit. Here's an example using big, round numbers: If you book a cruise for two at $1200 and pay 50% deposit of $250, Then the rate drops to $1000. But the new sale rate may not have the half off deposit so you would then need to pay an additional $250 to make the full deposit amount to lower your total cost by $200. A lot of people don't get this but it IS a price drop.

Just kidding, we sail on the Excastcy on Friday. We don't vape, we can afford to buy our drinks, and always prepay our tips when we book , and leave extra if the room steward is nice. Very excited, Looking forward to a weekend get away with my hubby. This makes cruise number 4 on Carnival. I might want to try a more upscale cruise line next time any suggestions?

Great location! Didn't hear any noise from deck 5 only thing we did hear a little is music from the dinning room

Under us on deck 4 but wasn't bad at all. 1st day we could hear our neighbors when they were on their balcony but we got use to that. Loved laying out there playing scrabble with my hubby on the sea day. We did find all

To decorating pillows a pain to find a spot for them and a Rec table. We ended up putting the ottoman under the table and slide both into the spot for the ottoman. It stuck out a little but not to bad.

 

Last thing to note and our room steward(I don't remember her name). We didn't see to much of her. She often came late to make up the room and to do

Turn down service. It's not an overly bad thing just something we weren't use to. We also didn't get a towel animal the 1st night because she was running behind.

Hmm, I wonder if she's at the end of contract. My kids would be so disappointed to not have a towel animal every night.

Did your balcony gets lot of sun or is it partially covered?

8 hours to reach the gulf! We had service till midnight. Coming home it took longer to connect though.

We are booked on the Nov 21 sailing on Sunshine and FTTF just became available yesterday. We have checked every day for months. Exactly 10 months out. Other excursions are not available for us yet just FTTF.

This Thursday, Carnival is having a big PR event in New York to announce the details/ homeport of the Vista. It has been rumored that they will also announce other ships that are moving around in the fleet (maybe a potential for Europe in 2016?) Hopefully, some dates will be available for booking soon after that..

I think it depends on your 3 year old's personality. Do they go happily into daycare or preschool? Or to church nursery? Or cling to you and hide behind your legs? It's a brand new environment with new faces and I think it's ok at that age for them to be leery. Our kids are 8 & 10 and we still introduce them to Camp Carnival.We visit during open house to show them everything and the first time we drop them off it's only for a short period (I mean like 30 min or less). Maybe have your little one visit camp early in the morning when they are happy & fresh. (I've seen so many kids in there crying because they look exhausted from a long day)

This sounds similar to when you have a large group at a restaurant and they automatically tack on gratuity. Not all do it, but some will slack knowing they have their tip in the bag.Very frustrating. Who knows if your steward was just having a bad week (maybe they missed some major family event at home or they could have received upsetting news) or if this is their usual work ethic. I will go out of my way to talk to and introduce myself and let them know if our cabin needs attention. More often than not, nice gets nice!:rolleyes:

So thankful for this thread! We booked a cat 6j for four (scenic ocean view) for our upcoming Sunshine sailing. There are only a few on the ship and I had given up hope on any price reductions. During the recent 24 hour sale, the balcony rooms were priced nearly $300 less than our ocean view but Carnival refused to give us any OBC. Well, I guess someone switched cabins during that sale because today our sailing shows a cat 6J available. I was able to price match (not much but I'll take it!) Now I can continue to check each day until that cabin is booked. Here's to hoping for another big sale in the near future!

We stayed on Deck 5 on the Sunshine in October. We were aft behind the casino and loved it!

 

 

 

We are looking at cruising on the Sunshine for Thanksgiving 2015 too!

We booked the Sunshine for Thanksgiving. Can't wait for "Grand Turk"ey day! ;)

We have an aft balcony on deck 5. After looking at the deck plans, we are hopeful this is close to quite a few venues that we will enjoy. Only a few flights up to Lido and only a couple sets of stairs when we come back from ports. Seems pretty centrally located!

My lawn guy, Roberto, Who is from Cuba, told me that his second cousin on his Mom's side, has a daughter who's boyfriend works in a detail shop in Miami, who's sister works at the a Cuban diner next to Carnival Headquarters, and she said the Fantasy was going to get a Sunshine style rebuild and would be called the Sunset.

This "new" ship will be an all non-smoking ship with special scanners to catch all rum runners and you would be assigned a deck lounge chair as you boarded. There will be 3 MDR's on board, one for cruise elegant, one for cruise casual and one for "It's my cruise I will wear what I want".

All staterooms will be inside with a 70" big screen showing interactive video of the ocean. This ship will also have the first at sea video pursers desk. You will be chatting with people in India to solve all your problems. This can also be done from the comfort of your cabin.

 

 

 

Well as you can see I am board tonight. Having knee replacement surgery Friday (knee # two) and just took my pain meds.

We were lucky to get a 6J cabin on the Sunshine with three passengers. We have been trying to book another cruise with a 6J cabin on the Sunshine and have had no luck so far. With only six 6J and 6K cabins on the ship it difficult to book one.

So you liked the cabin well enough to want to book it again? That's a good sign. I'm worried that we will wish we had a balcony...
