  1. Did you ever find out what the delay was in delivering your luggage since it was tagged (orange) as FTTF? Just curious to know where the luggage was until it was delivered at turn down!

Congrats to your niece on her accomplishment!:D

    MARAPRINCE

I read on some FTTF thread that someone did not get their luggage timely and their money for the FTTF was refunded.

  2. My sister and I late 50's are just like you, we start with Bloody Mary's around 10am and have on average 1 drink an hour.....never feel hardly a buzz.

But let me blow everyone's mind.

Not only do I frequently come close to my 15 drink limit, but I splurge a little during meals with a few glasses of wine.........and then in the evening while I'm playing in the casino my drinks are free on the Players Club and don't count against Cheers......

So between about 10am and 2am (14 hours) I'll routinely go well over 15 drinks when combining the 2 plans.

Seems like not many people believe us. If I feel even a little lightheaded all I have to do is pee and the tiny buzz is gone. I'm glad to hear there are other folks who don't fall down after a few drinks.

  3. I am an old lady (61) and I did not drink at all until I was about 50. I have been on cruises where I have consumed 15 drinks in one day and I was no where near drunk. I'm always awake for at least 18 hours and that is less than one drink an hour.

I'm not a professional drinker in fact except when I am on vacation I rarely drink at all and I don't take a lot of vacations. I think sometimes people get judgemental based on their own experience.

  4. Next year we are having a memorial cruise for my beautiful daughter who passed away at the age of 33 from breast cancer. She was diagnosed 6 weeks before her wedding. She was married on the Carnival Pride 03/28/10.

We thought it would be fitting to have a memorial service onboard and scatter some of her ashes. Her husband could not do the Pride (too much heartache) and since we are from Philadelphia we chose to sail from NY. The cruise will also raise money for her passion Children's Literacy Initative (she was a teacher).

I am hoping someone has experience with an onboard memorial. I think there will be about 25-30 of us. I would appreciate any feedback that could be provided.

  5. That's very true but how many people can literally drink 15 drinks a day, 7 days in a row, and not be falling down stupid? On my last two cruises, I've seen what 15 drinks a day can do to people. Not everyone goes on a cruise just to see how inebriated they can get. If sharing were allowed (or if only one person in a cabin could buy the card), my wife and I could easily get along (and get pretty sloshed) on a single card and still not come close to hitting the 15 drink a day limit.

I've done the booze cruise with over 100 people and I would say 80% went over the 15 drink limit. Myself included and I never have been sloshed in my life. I rarely drink (work too much) but liquor does not seem to have much of an effect on me. I drink girly drinks and think they never back a punch.I get a bit more mellow but that is about it. The nice thing with no limits it got me to try new drinks. Found I had a taste for Sambucca.

On the booze cruise card there is no time limit and I saw some in the group start drinking at 10 am and still going strong at 3am. I would say the majority of that group got their money's worth but about half of them were sloshed half the cruise. I'm not a fan of drinking so much you forget that you forget the journey.

I actually liked the drink coupons you could by. It saved just a tiny bit but it let me prepay my cruise.

  6. My belief is that policy is specifically in place to keep people from sharing (stealing). Just imagine how many times a DW would say "I don't drink that much so I'm not going to buy the program" and then ask DH to grab her a drink on his Cheers card? We all know this would happen, look at the threads here about the Bottomless Bubbles program and how many people from the same cabin not only share those cards but think it's okay as well?

I think the difference to the bottomless bubbles is the first word. You can get unlimited drinks. I have done booze cruises in the past. A large group and each person in the group had to buy the drink card but it was unlimited. With the Cheers program you are limited to 15 drinks I think that is a bit different. Even if you share you are not getting more than 15 drinks.

  7. For anybody who has already gone on the Splendor I have a couple of questions about disembarking.

. I would like a high zone number so we could kill some more time on the ship. Is there any system to assigning zone numbers so you could predict your zone number and so what time you would get off the ship?

You can go when they call your zone or wait until a later zone. We generally are the last people off the ship no matter what zone we are. One of the perks is that it is easier to find your luggage. We play cards on the lido deck and take some last minute pictures.

Once we had a someone moving the baggage give us a hard time about why we didn't get off when we were supposed to but that was no big deal.

  8. Thanks everyone! And thanks to everyone who answered all my questions! If you have any I'll do my best to answer with first hand experience!

I'll be doing the internet package, so if I have time, I'll check in here. Got to go finish all my last minute tasks!

Hope you have the most wonderful time. Can't wait to hear about your experience. I have something like 390 days till it is my turn.

  9. What it all actually comes down to is what you do when you're in port. If your port time consists of hanging out and drinking all day long, then you're not going to be in the mood to drink once you get back on the ship. It also depends on what you normally drink and the price of said drink. For arguments sake, if you drink a drink that is 7.50, then you need to consume 6 of them on average per day to break even. Even if you're on a port day and you only drink between 500pm and 12 midnight, don't you think it's possible to drink 6 drinks over the course of 7 hours? Two before dinner, one with dinner and 3 after dinner is not really pounding drinks.

It's been discussed various times on the boards, but the piece of mind it provides is the best thing in my opinion. I enjoy cruising and all inclusives as my favorites ways to vacation, because decisions are lessened and more things are included. Not having to worry about ordering a drink and worrying about the bottom line cost is really nice. I'm cheap, so I'll think twice about buying a drink if I know it's going to cost me 9.95 plus 1.50 tip, but if it's already included at an all inclusive or through a drinks package on a cruise, then I will enjoy that drink and it's one less thing to fret about on my vacation.

I agree with the peace of mind knowing. I like getting off the ship with only souvenirs to remind me of my fun time.
