  1. I can tell you in May we did a shared Uber from the port in Bayonne to the Wall St area. It worked fine but cost us $70. My impression was if you can get to the NJ side of the river using public transit it would save a lot of money.

Wow $70 is a lot for 1 trip seeing I'm having to do it probably 4 times + I'm goto travel to jfk to the airport and back at some stage

Looks like it's going to take some planning!

  2. It was MTD so I guess they could do that but they put us in regular dining between services one night, then in someone else's area the next. I think I prebooked times but it seemed like they were sticking us in random places.

I thought that what MTD was supposed to be ? , U can go for dinner when U like , but U just have a randoms table when it came free.

We do the normal BOGO quite often

We where given the option mid cruise recently when the food was below standard in the main dining room , the head waiter offered it, we obviously had to pay , it was for the 2 of us just for 1 night

  3. Here it is from someone that lives in the area. Depending on where you are staying in NYC and how much baggage you have, take the Path Train to Hoboken. At Hoboken take a cab to the ship. Very easy and stress free. A single trip on Path is $2.75 and I would guess $20 for a cab to the cruise terminal. That's how what I would do it.

That sounds like a cheaper way of doing it

We have 1 large suitcase and one hand luggage each

and staying at the "premier hotel times square nyc"

Hoping that there a not any stairs that we would have to carry our bags up ?

  4. I live in Bayonne.

Best way? Hire an Uber or Lyft.

Public transit is a hassle. You'd have to take PATH from 33rd to Newport in Jersey City, walk over to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, take that to 34th St. in Bayonne, and you'd still need a cab or an uber to get you to the Port because otherwise it would be a 2.5 mile walk.

    Hi

That's great bit of advice seeing u live there

Where I live in UK we don't have uber , So I will have to get it set up

My son lives in London , he uses it all the time so he can give me some pointers

  5. Please post on the East Coast Board with your exact cruise date and number of people. Usual recommendation is a car service like Dial7 or Carmellimo because it's a trip between NY and NJ. NY taxi is not recommended because it's not a metered fare and they can charge extra. Tolls run in the $20 range and 18-20% tip is expected on the base fare.

Public transit plus cab/Uber into the port is also an option.

    Thank you

Have got a quote from Dial7 , as u said not cheap , so hopefully find an alternative

  6. We been a diamond member for a couple of years now and done at least 6 cruises at that status. Soon to be diamond +

We have never found the lounge to get that busy . In between 7pm / 8pm it gets pretty full at times and they opened a door and taken a little area to overflow in to the bar next door

I hope that it not going be so busy as what some of you have experienced. As I fear that Royal might take away this facility. And replace it with something less in our favour

The free drinks save us a lot and love meeting new people in the lounge how regularly attend

  7. Awful situation . Cruise company's are going the wY of airlines it seems . !?

We had booked to go Asia for my 60th next year .with Rccl . I discovered recent that the had reduced our cruise from 8days (6 stop)to 4 days with complete different itinerary (1 stop ) they tried telling me that's what I booked . After I challanged them. They amitted there was a change of itinerary. They Offered $200 obc to a future cruise .booked in the next 14 days . But my agent I booked with had to deal with it . They didn't contact me until the deadline after me chasing them to sort it . So they apologied to and gave us a further $200 obc and free WiFi on our next cruise

We have now booked a 2 week back to back of NYC to Canada then NYC to Bahamas .

    All very frustrating

I would write to them and try to get more compensation. They won't want to lose you

Hope u have a great cruise.

  8. Wow ..thats a nice cabin / suite? ..If it anything like that i'll be well happy :D

We cruise about 4/ 5 times a year , and try to get a balcony , last year we chose a ocean view because of the price difference and where lucky enough to get up graded to a balcony , but thats a rare occasion to get upgraded we find

Same here for our TA crossing last December.

We were very happy with the allocated Q5 (9040)...
