  1. My problem with Viking is they are not very welcoming to those of us with disabilities. I found that out when I called them to inquire as to whether they could accommodate me and my mobility scooter. I was firmly told no. No scooters at all, only wheelchairs or walkers. When I politely pressed the issue, I was told Viking appeals to very active passengers and there would be nothing for a fully disabled person. I reminded the woman that Viking should rethink their policy because if they want to cruise into or out of US ports, the disabled must be accommodated. They now accept scooters, but greatly limit the number allowed on board
  2. Neither Oceania nor any other cruise line can make an exception for any US Department of State regulation regardless of how good a customer you are. For our upcoming cruise, my passport expired two days after the 6 month rule, but not wanting to take a chance, I renewed. Didn’t use expedited service and got my new passport in 11 days.
  3. Well, I don’t much care about dress codes, but I will say I prefer to see a nice pair of jeans than the guy in very loose cargo shorts who reached down inside his shorts to scratch his butt—-and yes, I was unfortunate enough to be right behind him in line waiting to be seated in Polo, and since I’m a full time scooter user, I got the full shot.
  4. Sailtex, thank you for the information. It helps greatly. Now I have to find a double sided ramp so that my scooter can negotiate the 5 inches. I have booked the inside accessible cabin for myself so that I can have the roll in shower.
  5. I'm hoping someone can help with this issue. We will be spending a few cruises on Riviera in the next few months, and I am trying to find out the height of the threshold going out onto the deck. I will be purchasing a portable threshold ramp to use so I can go out onto the deck. My post polio has gotten worse, and I can no longer negotiate steps of any height. Also, is there a lip inside the suite that leads to the bigger step onto the deck. I've contacted O's special needs department, but they say they have no idea but would "try" and find out the measurements. I'm assuming that the threshold in the other cabins are the same as in the OS, but I'm not sure about that. The ramp I'm getting can be adjusted from 2" to 4.8", but I don't know if the height is higher than that. Thank you for any info,
