  1. In past 3 Celebrity cruises we were not in Concierge' cabins, but are this April on a TA. Is there an actual Concierge' to help you? The same kind of help a hotel Concierge' would give you?
  2. Are there places to buy wine near the Port before boarding a Celebrity ship in Miami?
  3. When I attempted to bid on a 20 April cruise, the webpage said I had to wait until 21 day out.
  4. I haven't sailed Celebrity since 201... but was on 3 HAL cruises in 2022 Really liked HAL last year, didn't notice any "cutbacks" other than a shortage of staff in some areas Scheduled for a TA on X next month and picked it purely on the port calls. That said, I am a little concerned about all the X cutbacks I read about on Cruise Critic. Enjoyed X in the past, so I hope the naysayers are wrong about the impact of the cuts at Celebrity. In general I prefer HAL, but I am looking forward to finding out for myself what differences the changes/cuts at X will make.
  5. We had 3 good HAL cruises last year. The food on the Zaandam, Zuierdam and Noordam was OK, but not great. Service was mostly good. Getting drinks in the MDR was a hassle every time, but otherwise we were pleased. We have another cruise book for January of next year and hope that the experience will be just as good. We usually sail with HAL or Celebrity, and what I'm reading on CruiseCritic suggests that, so far, HAL has not made some of the more drastic cost-cutting steps that Celebrity has taken. Guess we'll find out in January.
  6. I booked direct with Celebrity but have never got any contact information for the person who did the booking. I have a first name only. Is there any way to contact the, like HAL's Personal Cruise Consultant?
  7. To visit Cork and then on to te Jameson Distillery from Cobh, best bet a taxi or a tour? We're in port on 30 April.
  8. On 3 HAL ships (Zaandam, Zuierdam & Westerdam)last year and found the buffet had lots of choices, good quality (although mostly very bland). Only went once for dinner, but several breakfast or lunches, Never an issue with food or service.
  9. We had a Sunset Veranda on the Millie on a Trans Pacific and loved every minute. best cabin we've ever had in 12-+ cruises. Glad you snagged one, wish I had.
  10. Can in find what wines are included in the basic beverage package on the app or on line for the Silhoutte ?
  11. weregoingcruising....LOVE IT. My new motto for any cruise!
  12. We board the Silhouette in 2 months and hope we like it as much as blueboro. I gave up on fine dining in the MDR on any of the mainline cruises year ago. Now I just hope for acceptable. Don't care about lobster or Prime Rib, etc. But will be satisfied with decent pasta dishes, tasty seafood and good salads. We no longer cruise for the food experience (my wife cooks better that X on most days), not even in the upcharge venues; but for the cruise experience and the ports. So, if blueboro right, we'll have a great cruise.
  13. Is it necessary to go all the into London if I wanted to take the train from Southampton to Penzance?
  14. Any recommendations for a car service from Southampton to Dorset and/or LHR. Arriving early May.
  15. In October on our 9-night cruise aboard Zaandam, we thought everything was pretty good. Only real gripe is the food is so bland you need to bring your own hot sauce or spice blend. Drink service in the MDR was a little slow, but not that different from pre-COVID days. I would like more live music, but what was avalaible was pretty good. We've switched to Celebrity for the next cruise simply because of the ports. Haven't been with them since 2019, so anxious to see what is like now.
  16. It's my bad that I never looked at this Celebrity board until after I booked a TA for April. the price and itinerary lured me. Had I know about all the cutbacks since my last sailing on X in 2019, I might not have picked this cruise. I did 3 HAL cruises last year and, other than expected staffing issues, they were remarkably similar to pre-COVID cruises, Have to admit I was expecting more of the same on X. But, I'm usually a glass is "half-full" type, so I will board this cruise, hope for the best but be prepared to be very disappointed. Meaning a return to HAL for future cruises.
  17. I'm beginning to think I made a big mistake...I booked a TA for April, my first Celebrity cruise since early 2019, and was not aware of all the cutbacks. Did 3 cruises on HAL in 2022 and never had to pay for room service breakfasts. I'm past final payment, so i guess I'm stuck with a sub-par experience.
