  1. Watching the ships come into Port Everglades. It almost makes you cry to witness the sad end of their cruise. No one on deck, only a few standing in the doors of their cabins. I pray that the crew is safe and that the cruise lines quickly recover from this fiasco. Hypo
  2. Rhapsody just got underway from Tampa. Looks like no passengers on board. Where is she going?
  3. We cruised from Miami last April, on the Equinox, and Celebrity was using the terminal that is closest to the mainland. I believe it was Terminal F or G. It is the tented Terminal that RCCL used for many years when sailing from Miami.
  4. They showed that terrible movie on Oasis and Harmony last year. Much too loud, to the point of being painful to the ears.
  5. Airlines have hundreds of planes making multiple flights per day. The cruise line has, at most, a few dozen ships; with a captive audience for up to several weeks at a time.
  6. He is the absolute best waiter we have had in more than 40 cruises! I always pronounced his name as "Neeno", but I started to wonder if that was correct after our cruise.
  7. Does he pronounce his name "neeno? or Nino (spanish pronunciation)?
  8. Thank you for the information.
  9. Which RS did you have? We are in 1241 in a few weeks.
  10. Remember that your cell phones will switch to local time and will not necessarily match the official ships time!
  11. One thing we would add to this list is a small square rubber bathmat. We are in our 70's and the tubs and showers can be slippery.
  12. My wife has mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. Is there elevator access to the Retreat sundeck? Thanks
  13. Great news. He has been our favorite waiter out of 36 cruises! Wonderful man to converse with every day. BTW, we are cruising on Equinox on Oct 2, 2019 so we will see him then.
  14. Is the waiter Nino still onboard Equinox in the Luminae restaurant? He is an excellent waiter!
  15. I would say Yes. Even though suggested attire is for a more dressed up evening, I have seen many people still in jeans and polo shirts in all of the dining venues. About the only time I have seen people turned away is for wearing shorts and/or flip flops to the MDR in the evening. We have alwlays enjoyed formal nights and dressing for dinner (still do!) however the trend is to a more casual do-your-own-thing mentality. Do what you wish, don't worry about what others think. Although having read recent cruise ship news, it is probably best you don't show up for chic night dressed as a clown! LOL
  16. We think the best side would be portside for the sail down the river. But there are interesting things to see on both sides of the river. It is amazing how far out to sea you will be and there are still numerous oil drilling platforms.
  17. IIRC, It is required that you be onboard at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure time. If you are not, you will miss the cruise. This is a government requirement for sailings from the US, not sure if the same rule applies when leaving from a Canadian port.
  18. Dear son (just turned 21 at the time) came back to the cabin at 3 AM, shall we say SLIGHTLY intoxicated? Lost his cabin key and woke me up by pounding on the door. He came in and went to bed, I got dressed and went down to Guest Services to cancel his Seapass card and get a new one printed. I think that all of the GS people were asleep in the backroom. But anyway, while I was waiting I saw Security making their rounds and looking behind couches and cabinets and into closets and other spaces looking for people sleeping/passed out in these spaces. They would wake them and send them on their way. To this day, he won't drink Long Island Iced Teas. LOL
  19. Nino. Waiter in Luminae on Equinox. Best waiter we have had in over 35 cruises!
  20. I read the posted menus. IT appears to me to be the standard Celebrity MDR menus.
  21. When dining in Luminae (on S class) you can order from either the Luminae menu or the MDR menu. Note that all of the food is prepared in the main galley on deck 3. There is not a separate galley just for Luminae, it may be plated differently but it all comes from the MDR galley on deck 3.

In our community we have a government sponsored recycling problem. Except, they don't accept glass containers, as there is not a viable market for them (according to the powers that be). Glass is infinitely recyclable, either as other glass products or as ground up "sand". If we should be concerned about cruise ships use of straws (which are either incinerated on board, or off loaded as a compacted bundle of trash), I think that you should watch the cruise ship re-provisioning activities when in the home port. Each pallet of food or other products that comes on board is wrapped in miles and miles of plastic wrap. All of that plastic wrap SHOULD be collected and recycled, however, I have seen lots of it blowing around on the pier and it ultimately ends up in the sea. Fresh produce is delivered in boxes and trays that are made from cardboard, but the cardboard is usually coated with a thin layer of plastic to make them water resistant. Plastic is everywhere and the banning of straws won't have a significant impact one way or the other. BTW, I don't use any kind of straws.
  23. The primary reason that the electrical outlet is on the ceiling is to ensure that you don't drop an electrical appliance into water in the sink and electrocute yourself. I don't know what the allowed amperage for these outlets is, but they should handle just about all items you wish to use, except high wattage items like a hair dryer or space heater.
  24. Ate in Luminae on last cruise, bar service for bloody mary's in the morning was very prompt. By the second day they had it for me shortly after I sat down.
  25. We got luggage valet for free (Royal Suite) on Equinox last April. However, I had to ask the concierge for the paperwork and the terms as no information was provided in the cabin.
