  1. Here is an actual menu showing you the drink prices.....frozen drinks range from 7.25-8.75 and martinis can set you back $9+......hopefully this helps in your decision.

Just saw this menu you posted. Looks like the Paradise was getting more for the beers there, than is showing on that menu . Is that menu before they started with the 16oz size in some of the brands?

  2. I was on the Paradise in June for a 5 day cruise. I either had Dos Equis 12oz or Coors Light 16oz with tip... each was $7.01 or $6.61 each. At that price point I tend to think that the Cheers pkg would be a good idea if you drink 8 beers a day which really is not that much across the day. True if you go on excursions that cuts into your "beer time" but dancing into the night makes a person very thirsty :D !

  3. The deciding factor for me would be the closeness of the water versus being higher up.The balconies higher up above deck 5 which has a lanai deck that goes all the way around the ship ,and to me not as private because other passengers walking down on that deck can look up onto the balconies above. The coves are more enclosed because of being below the lifeboats and not as much sunlight as the upper balconies ,but still enough to enjoy while sitting out on them.A lot of the time the coves are cheaper than regular balconies also ,but you can look at the different balconies on youtube videos and then make a determination for yourself. There are a lot of other factors to consider ,like if you want to be closer to the action like the lido deck ,or away from it.It was very quiet down there so that really appeals to us just our preference.

Sounds like we will try the Cove on our next cruise. Being quiet & close to the water sounds good. Thanks for the suggestion of checking out the youtube videos too.

  4. OK.. so I am WAY late in posting this, and it might have already been covered in another thread (but I did not find it)...

On our 5/29/14 sailing on the Sensation I was told that they no longer have the Blackjack tournament -- at least that was the case on three night sailings. They were still offering the slots tournament.

I have ALWAYS played in the BJ tournaments on all our many Carnival sailings, so this came as quite a shock to me... especially since getting the (now diluted perk) of a BOGO entry for the tournament thanks to our past guest level.

So tell me... is this just on 3 night sailings.. is it just on the Sensation... or was that a "test period", and now they've brought them back?

    Thanks,

    Tom

I did a 5 day on the Paradise last month & was offered the BOGO for the Tournaments also. I thought it was for Black Jack but could have been Slots. At the start of that cruise they finished installing what looked like new tables in the Casino.

  5. Both are good choices .I stayed in 2284 and it was great. You have to go back in the middle 2300-2400's to be under the galley.

I know cove balconies are close to the ocean, do you consider that location to be better than the regular balconies. Everything I have read gives the Cove excellent reviews. Given a choice, would a Lido deck balcony or Cove balcony be better ? Considering these two types for our next Carnival cruise. BTW, motion sickness does not affect either of us. TIA

  6. On our very first cruise in 2005, which happened to be on the Carnival Miracle - DH, myself and another couple had booked OVs. When we saw our TA to make the final payment, she advised us that Carnival had upgraded us to balcony cabins - for FREE! At that time we had no idea how great this deal was. We have not been able to book anything but balcony cabins since - and we've never had another upgrade... We're booked on B2B Glory October 18th and 25th. I guess there's still hope for us.

I have only been upgraded many years ago from a 1A to a 4A inside which was nice. Since then, no upgrades from Carnival & we are Platinum on both Carnival & Princess. Your story about Carnival upgrading you to a balcony is what happened to us on Princess, went from obstructed view outside to a balcony, for free, which we have never have stayed in. Balconies has spoiled us & is the only cabin we will book now.

  7. Sales pitch???

So I am going to book another cruise just because I had a friggin meatball at the taste bar???

    That's funny!!

You guys are too funny :D. Had to laugh at that one !!

We are Platinum on both Carnival & Princess and keep coming back to those 2 cruise lines for different reasons, enjoying every cruise. Agreed that a "friggin meatball" won't be the enticement to book another cruise. It is nice that they are doing that anyway.

  8. That's good so you won't have to have an expensive lesson like we did but not having enough of them. I've read posts that say some people will go on the $39 Bon Voyage Experience where it's possible to purchase FCCs & the $39 fee is useable as a credit on a future cruise booked within I think 90 days.

Did not know that you could buy FCC during a BVE but have heard that the $39BVE could be used on a future credit on a cruise, thanks for sharing.

  9. I was on the Paradise last month for a 5 day cruise & saw The Taste Bar near the casino, close to the Vault machine. The times I walked by there, no lines that I saw. Guess I missed out since I did not stop to try anything during that cruise.

  10. When I sign onto the Princess Web Site I get the following message "There are no bookings associated with your sign in. You can still access your booking by completing the information to the right." So I sign in by interring my name, date of birth, and conformation number to see my booking information. If I go "My Cruise Personalizer" it does not show any of my reservations or other information. Anybody know why this is happening?

    Tom:)

We had the exact thing happen to us when we booked a few days ago our Aug cruise via the Princess web site. Later we signed on clicked on Cruise Personalizer & showed the same thing yours did. Had to access the cruise the same way you did. The next day it showed up when I signed onto the Princess web site the usual way. Plus when I printed out the boarding pass, bought via Princess web site, under travel agency it had another travel agency name instead of Princess Cruises listed. We did go directly to the Princess Cruises web site not thru a search. Not sure why it happened to us either

  11. Hopefully you'll find a great deal to use your FCC to reserve. I lost out on $300 of OBC for both of us by running out of FCCs so I now keep a few for any great last-minute deals.

We ran out also, going to stock up on those during our cruise on the Caribbean Princess in Aug.

  12. We loved the OP as well. We participated in a Chef's Table on the OP. During our galley tour it was interesting to know that the tan area on deck 5 is not the galley as the galley for the MDR is on deck 4! If you go in the area on deck 5 you will discover a stairway for downward traffic and an escalator for upward traffic. They don't want the wait-staff carrying trays of food up stairs. Also in that area is the liquor locker. It is a locked cage to which very few have access.

Cabins on deck 6 over the Club Bar can be quiet as well. The only caveat is the closer to the deck 5 outside promenade access doors you get, the more likely you'll hear those doors slam when it's windy. We were in 6057 and could hear them now and then. It wasn't so much of a bother though, as we booked the same cabin in 2016.

Motion-wise we felt that location was excellent as pitching seemed very minimal there.

Thanks for explaining that area that I thought was the galley, very interesting. The middle to aft section of deck 6 for a balcony cabin would be ok then. With all the positive comments, sounds like we will have an excellent time.

  13. We love the Ocean and Pacific Princess. We have always had a cabin on deck 7 in the past but for our 51 day cruise on Ocean Princess this year, all the cabins on deck 7 were booked out. We therefore chose 6072 on deck 6 which is several cabins from the aft of the ship and really loved it. It was incredibly quiet as there is virtually no passing traffic but it's still quite close to the aft stairs/elevators.

We wouldn't hesitate to book this cabin again and much prefer the R class ships to the larger ones. On our 51 day cruise the crew were fabulous and seemed really happy - it was a wonderful cruise so I would definitely recommend Ocean Princess.

The only time we have had any noise issues on deck 7 was on our first ever cruise which was on Pacific Princess and we were 'upgraded' from a balcony on deck 6 to one on deck 7 with a connecting door :(. We could definitely hear the conversation of our neighbours. I would definitely avoid any cabin with a connecting door and also one near the laundry which is on deck 7.

I would definitely recommend a balcony towards the aft on either deck 6 or 7.

Thank you for that information. We were looking at deck 5 & saw that tan area which must be the galley ? Good to know that where your cabin 6072 was, is a great location.

I remember years ago cruise ships were in the 20,000 to 35,000 ton class & I always had a great time on those. Cruising on the Ocean Princess will be fine with us too :).

  14. Deck six has some quiet balcony areas. he back of the ship is over the dining room, so there is noise during meal times, mainly dinner. The cabins forward are over the show lounge, so noisy in the evening. To a large extent it will depend on your schedule. None of these cabins are noisy all the time.

Thanks for that information, looks like for our schedule, the cabins forward would be our best option since we are out late at night. Looks like the midship balconies on deck 6 might be another option since it is over the Future Sales area, example 6048 to 6058 ? Maybe more quiet than the aft or forward cabins? Will be booking a cruise for Dec 2015, researching what our options are.

  15. We've been on Deck 8 without noise issues, however we were not below the buffet. We usually try to get the aft cabins on Deck 6 (6090 and 6093), but they usually sell pretty quickly.

Other than Deck 7 for a balcony stateroom, which other deck on the Ocean Princess would you choose for a quiet balcony location ?

  16. Just booked our 1st Princess cruise. :)

We have sailed with NCL for the last few years, whilst we still love the product we are looking forward to seeing the differences between the 2 lines.

We are also looking forward to the formal nights especially as we have chosen a Trans-Atlantic for 2015 and feel the cooler climate will enable us to enjoy this more. (never seems right putting a tie on in the Caribbean)

Enjoy your 1st cruise with Princess.

We understand about the tie in the Caribbean type of thing :).

  17. and Horizon Court.

Perfect location, out the aft doors to the Terrace Pool then up one deck to the bar and Horizon Court. :D

That is what we thought also about the location, close to that pool & bar & buffet too :D!

  18. I am on the ocean princess now. Although there is a DJ in the Tahitian lounge at 11 PM in practice it is very badly attended by the passengers almost all of whom are either asleep or have retreated to their cabins not necessarily both.

There is some movement especially at the front of the ship but it has been a very smooth ride in the last 35 days I have been on her in the north Atlantic and in the Baltic. I had a fairly bad ride on the Pacific Princess about two years ago but that was in November in the Mediterranean so what do you expect.

There are very few kids on the present about a half-dozen mainly I suspect because there are no facilities for them. I understand that if there are minimum number booked this generally happens on Christmas cruises they will set-aside a room for them but I don't know how attractive that is. This was what I was told on the December 2012 transatlantic on the Pacific Princess also that they would bring aboard a crew member who deals with children

Thank you for the info on the DJ in the lounge & ship movement.

  19. This thread is from 8 years ago.

We have stayed in the 700's many times and heard no noise. The further forward you get the more chance of noise especially in the 400 area under the pool. Loungers being dragged and put out in the morning etc.

Thanks for your info. We did get a balcony in the 700's on the Riviera deck. Great price, could not pass it up.
