  1. Done both.

We are not loyal to any cruz line as so many are and the loyalty seems to be paying off less and less.

Overhead announcements are usually in 5 languages but obviously tend to be shorter. They put us at an English speaking table, 2 Kiwis, 2 Canucks and 4 Yanks. We all got along great, even closed the dining room twice and met up ashore a couple of times.

One thing we didn`t like was the buffet breakfast. There was little to no eggs and meat, but a ton of carbs-rolls, pastries etc. We had to go to MDR for an American breakfast-and it went pretty fast.

Entertainment was average, but in the port intensive and lots of walking Med, after dinner, you`re pretty much pooped (climbed that dam mountain in Kotar).

Try all the cruz lines, vive la différence!

  2.

So how the blazes to you search for info on FB anyway. Here I can at least type in what I am looking for and sometimes I find it.

May I have one of the original Bisque Kewpies as my price please? NO!

    Alicat

One simply types in the name of the ship in the top box and it`ll bring up all the RCs and groups about that ship. Costa rarely gets any roll calls going.

  3. You lost me here. What is a Cuppie doll?

    Alicat

I think this is a reference to a Kewpie doll, which is a way of referring to a common prize given for winning a game at a carnival. (It's an expression.) But I didn't write the post, so I am only guessing.

I was referring to the "Folks looking at other social media" FB has definitely put a dent into CC roll call threads.

  4. We have booked the Costa Delizisosa (spirit class) and have picked a stern facing cabin. Never had one. Noise, vibration, smoke, seem to come up on google searches. Deck 6.

Watching some of the great Europe ports at sail away sounds good.

    -

Question: Can you look down on below balconies and be looked upon from above? Don`t want that.

    Unusual vibration?

Smoke-from the smokestack...as the Med is somewhat calm when we sail.

    -

Any and all feedback will be appreciated!

  6. I seem to recall a travel ban, not too long ago. The Crystal Greek Isles tour has a stop in KUSADASI

Are all of the issues with Americans ban on travel to Turkey resolved. IE: Can Americans go ashore in Turkey on a closed loop cruise out of Athens?

    -

To the Middle East traveling community...Do you feel safe traveling to Turkey, especially Istanbul?

  7. To me it looked like the anchor was dropped as it came screaming into dock. I am wondering if maybe the thrusters were stuck in forward or the couldnt get reverse thrusters for whatever reason. It looks like a controlled crash than a mistake to me.

Portside anchor was down as it hit pier!

  8. I did and it worked-Thanks!

Another question: In one of your pics I saw a laundry bag. Do they have a "fill the bag and for X Euros they will wash and fold?

We are non-revs and travel with 22 inch bags-This is a biggie.

Also, I noticed that the cabin we are looking at on deck 3 does not have a sofa. Is that a big deal?

    Thank you so much!!!

  9. I have been on one or two disappointing cruises in my time. So far avoided the need to announce to the world that I would never sail with a particular cruise line again. I just put it down to a bad experience and it may or may not influence my future choices.
Why not tell the world? RC is going downhill much faster than it`s competitors. And yes, the service was that bad I won`t go back and after 28+ boatrides, we`ve had a stinker or two, but never this bad. How would you like to come back from the pool at 4, hot sweaty and see a dirty room??? TWICE!

I always scratch my head when I read that people are disappointed with food at the WJ. What did you expect? It's a buffet. Since when is a buffet, on land or sea, ever good?

BION CCL and NCL are edible(not often, but 2 or 3 times)-sausage tastes like sausage, not raw flour. You must be a Fisher Nole!
  10. 7 sun-filled days, a great bunch from roll call, diving, ice, headliner shows all fantastic. Coffee an croissants in Central Park-always a Home Run!

    Unfortunately:

Windjammer food totally devoid of any flavor

The ship was simply under-staffed. Wait for: food, drinks, cabin not cleaned until 5 PM twice, 1 hour 15 line for burgers and dogs at Labadee. Lines at guest services.

1/2 of our 115 member roll call complained about .....SERVICE. One gal, who has sailed OAS 5 times said "never again"!

So before the RC Cheerleaders flame me, We won`t sail RCL again.

  11. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico now says the threat in Playa del Carmen is NOT ferry-related and other regional incidents:

---MEXICO CITY (AP) — The U.S. Embassy in Mexico said Thursday that a security alert about the Caribbean resort of Playa del Carmen was not related to an explosion on a ferry that injured at least two dozen people.

The embassy did not specify what kind of security threat it had been informed of in the resort, which is near Cancun, Cozumel and Tulum.

But it did say that "we do not have information relating the ferry explosion to the security threat in Playa del Carmen."

That threatened to complicate matters for one of Mexico's key tourism sites, since the ferry threats had at least already been known and, according to Mexican officials, were related to "business issues" with the ferry company.

Now it appears a different threat also exists. The area has also been hit, albeit infrequently, by drug violence, and the violent Jalisco cartel has been seen moving into the area.

---While the Caribbean coast — especially Cancun and the area south known as the "Riviera Maya" — has been largely spared the drug violence affecting other areas, there have been killings.

Last week four gunmen burst into a hospital in Cancun and shot to death a drug gang suspect and his wife.

In January 2017, gunmen attacked the state prosecutors' office in Cancun, killing four people. A day before that, a shooting at a music festival in Playa del Carmen left three foreigners and two Mexicans dead.

  12. Wow that is lots of time.

Both Padi and Naui require 12hrs Classroom for Rec Diving. I can only think of Commercial or Search and Rescue diving that would require anywhere near 120hrs. Even Advanced or Master Diving certs don't require that much classroom. They are based more on actual dive time experience

Sounds way too grueling. Although, our open water checkout were done in Birchy Head Nova scotia. Water temp was a balmy 46 Deg F. It took me 45 minutes out of the water just to be able to take a leak ;p

    dp

Shrinkage??? Never liked wetsuits diving or surfing. Couldn`t imagine 46 degrees.

    -

Yep it was grueling and perhaps a little overkill, but every time I ran into a shark, 8 ft barracuda in the keys even when my mouthpiece 2/3rds tore off, never panicked. Did our checkout dives in the Gulf Stream off Lauderdale. 60-80 ft. Love those drift dives.

  13. 120 hrs of classroom  Are you sure that is not a typo? My certification was 12hrs Classroom.

I wouldn`t dive with you or anybody with that little training, at least not a dive below 15 feet.

Yes 120 hours. It was one of my college filler classes. 50% of the class did not get certified. Our instructor was an ex Navy Seal and was determined to make sure that his graduates came back safe every dive, at any depth. One of the pool days, he`d put aluminum foil on the inside of our mask (to simulate being mask-less in low visibility water) and then he`d sneak up behind you and turn off your air, pull off your fins etc. To pass the pool portion, we had to drop our mask, fins and snorkel in the deep end of a collegiate pool and in one breath, swim from the far shallow end to them, put them on, and surface with your mask water cleared. To this day I still remember the Time/Depth tables. 60/60 rule, etc.

It`s a wonderful world down there, so much to see.

It`s only after I took up spearfishing and turned into a "hunter" that I lost interest in diving, but still go from time to time.

    -

Why all this rambling??? Things can and do happen underwater and if one is prepared and avoids panic, all ends well.

  14. I am on Mariner now. Was going to book next cruise. Turn on the TV and there is no CNN only BBC. How am I going to survive without my daily diet of 4 hours of CNN, 3 hours in the morning here and 1 hour in the evening. If I still don't get enough of Trump then I go to Fox news at home. RCL must bring back CNN or lose more customers.

Please tell me that you`re joking!
