  1. Just noticed the beverage package is on sale for Labor Day. Do you know if we need to pay for it now or does it come out of the credit card once you board the ship? I was under the impression that you give your credit card information but nothing comes out until you sail.
  2. I hope all cruisers think like you. Unfortunately many only think for themselves and do not care if it’s spread to someone else. Have seen this a lot at Disney where you will see a park guest sick as a dog going around the park on all the rides.
  3. So is this policy for all cruises. Was not aware of full refund if you are positive
  4. Maybe you were with someone who tested positive so you decided to test yourself.
  5. So curious. If you tested positive for Covid 2-3 days before cruise and was vaccinated, would you still cruise? Since you do not need to test if you are vaccinated, I suspect many would just cruise so they are not out any $$.
  6. So my brother has a starlink rv. He gets great speeds with it. So hypothetical question. What if I took it on our cruise and used that for internet. I can set it on the balcony and cans be easily moved around. I have to do some work while cruising and don’t want to depend on the cruise internet. I heard about a RCCL ship testing starlink satellites for internet.
  7. Will Verizon Travelpass work on the cruise ship. That is only $10 day and it's unlimited everything.
  8. So not sure I saw it here, but for any tip you give that over and above the normal rate, is the employee obligated to also put that into the tip pool to share among their co-workers or could they just pocket it. Reason why I say this is because our last cruise, which was a long time ago (due to having kids), our waiter at the dining room went way over and above for us every night (he was from Colombia and in fact from the same town as my wife). We only spoke in Spanish which made him happy. He had drinks always waiting for us when we arrived and always brought out extra items for us to try. Well the last night we had him, we gave him a really nice extra tip for everything he did. We told him to pocket it and buy something nice for himself. We really hope none of it went to the Maître d' since he tried a few times to switch us to a different area because of the extra attention the waiter gave us.
  9. Just got email from RCCL that daily gratuity went from 14.50 to $16.00 PP Per day and suite guests went from $17.50 to 18.50.
  10. Yea right. They will be doing everything and nothing will stop them from dining in the dining room or having their room cleaned. I warned them that this is how things are done with sailing out of the US.
  11. It’s been that long since I cruised. Having kids sort of squashes any cruising fir a while. Kids are finally old enough to cruise (will be in camps)
  12. So I have family coming here from S. America who are not accustomed to leaving tips (if they did it's a few dollars for the waiter and that's it). It is frowned upon where they are from. It is 4 of them and they are looking at shelling out $500 in tips. I informed them of this. They let me know that they will only give what they think they deserve and that's it (Will be a lot less that $500). Can they just remove all automatic gratuities at the beginning of the cruise or must they go every day to remove the daily gratuities?
  13. So we just purchased refundable cruise fare instead of non-refundable. It's a bit more but you can cancel and re-book a different cruise without a penalty.
  14. I know some people on here get bent out of shape when mentioning tipping out in cash. Typically we just close out the account the night before we leave by going to the desk and paying cash. In the past when we have done this, the next morning there is several hundred $$ in tips added that we could have just handled in giving enveloped with cash. It's been a while since we have cruised but remember having to go to the desk to have the tips removed from the account so you can tip cash.
  15. Do you think it's inappropriate to tip only cash at the end instead on putting on cruise account? I prefer to just tip out cash at end so nothing is on my card.
  16. Just noticed this sale. Funny thing is that it says 72.99 Per Person but in Red it says "BUY ONE, GET ONE 50% OFF (PRICE REFLECTS DISCOUNT)". A few days ago when I was looking into preordering this, it said the same price w/o that BOGO 50% off notation.
  17. Has anyone ever seen the package deal better than BOGO 50% off? Just noticed it now it my planner. Also there are 4 of us in out cabin (Myself, Wife, 8 year old and 4 year old). Will they need a beverage package? All they drink is water.
  18. So I am pretty sold on the beverage package since we would be using it during dinner with bottled water and cocktails along with multiple coffees in the AM. For those who sailed the odyssey, is the unlimited dining package worth it? We prefer using the restaurants/cafes fir meals rather than the buffets. From what I understand, you can use the unlimited dining for all meals.
  19. Does the beverage package include Starbucks or do you need to use the ships coffee shop fir specialty coffees.
  20. So we are currently booked on Odyssey for next February. We took advantage of the kids sail free deal. Does RCCL ever do deals online where you get discounted beverage packages or meal packages after booking the cruise?
  21. This just happened to us. We needed 2 balcony connecting rooms and nothing was showing available online. Called a CSR and they got found us a pair on the 7th floor connecting.
