  1. Best for us is the cheapest. If very close to, or cheaper than a normal veranda when desired perks are added, the extra points are nice. We're not on 'Team Blu', so won't pay extra for Aqua because of that. M-class is the only class where Concierge & Aqua do have larger rooms, so that may be some consideration, but location is not always the best with 'better' rooms. Call a less desirable location an 'upgrade' and people will suddenly want it. Though we love the deck 11 rooms and have booked Aqua solely for location when the price has been minimally above normal veranda.
  2. Awesome. Thanks! We don't expect to need any of the Elite minutes ourselves, unless the two family members w/health issues not traveling have developments. Nice to know we could make wifi calls if needed.
  3. Thanks! We really don't need the good internet but it could come in handy on occasion so we don't want to burn through it unnecessarily.
  4. Dang. So it really is connected time. When you logoff, can you still connect to wifi for other things (like the X app)? And hopefully you can switch back to the crummy wifi?
  5. Our first cruise as a Elite is coming up, so we get some free 'good' minutes plus the Always Included crummy wifi. How are minutes tracked, or what constitutes a minute? Surely not simply being connected to ship wifi counts, or the minutes would be gone shortly after leaving port. Is it browser time only? I can't imagine texting would count for much, if anything.
  6. Did you end up doing the snorkel? If so, how was it? We have it booked for later this month.
  7. You're paying for the "delivered with care" component, which is clearly at a higher level in the more expensive restaurant. It's definitely a bizarre construct. And it's actually/unsurprisingly to the benefit of those who work in some placed. My DIL waited tables while attending University and learned that the bar/restaurant on Fridays & Saturdays was far more lucrative than serving breakfast at the local family diner. I recall there being "no tipping" studies/experiments in the US that didn't go well. The servers/bartenders made more $ with tipping. It would be nice to know how it actually works out on ships.
  8. Unfortunately, the US wage structure assumes conformance with the social norm of tipping at least 15%. It's expected that you're tipping that as a minimum for service that may be merely "acceptable". Is staff in a specialty restaurant paid less because of an assumption the difference will be made up for with tips?
  9. Exactly. Dinner (w/ServiceCharge included) = Old Total Price DinnerPrice+MandatoryServiceCharge = New Total Price Instant 18% additional in Celebrity's coffers with the new price model.
  10. Let's hope the answer is a refurb and not revolutionization. There is much to not like about the revolutionizing.
  11. That's the thing. You DID tip 18% already, as Celebrity said that service charge was included in the cover charge for the specialty restaurant. If you DOUBLE tipped before with an extra 18%, then you're only single tipping now.
  12. If the 'service charge' gratuity didn't make it to the staff, would there be any reasonable expectation that the 'gratuity' would?
  13. No bus or taxi required. It's a short walk from the pier (but the hill is rather steep getting there). https://maps.app.goo.gl/GVtBUfJHpWdamZ3T8 Check their website for opening times and making an advanced booking on your date. https://www.maisonsvictorhugo.paris.fr/en/visitor-information/your-visit-guernsey
  14. Why? Because they went from gratuity-included to gratuity-added. Celebrity has previously said that the price is inclusive of a service fee and that additional gratuities were welcome but not required. There have been plenty of dinners where we never received a final bill where we could add to the included tip. It really has nothing to do with gratuities. It has to do with a subtle price hike.
  15. You were already way beyond our budget by booking a suite to begin with. 😄
  16. Yes, they jacked up the price and then added a mandatory 18% on top of it. Specialty dining is WAY overpriced now, in our opinion. First night, maybe. Other nights? Not likely.
  17. Fully vaccinated = first round Up to date = first round + ONE booster I'm not aware of any requirements that require additional boosters
  18. Unrevolutionized is definitely NOT a bad thing!
  19. We just checked in at 45 days for an infinity sailing.
  20. 12:01 AM! Stay up late or set an alarm if you want to check in early.
  21. and then corkage is waived if you have a beverage package.
  22. The only real negative to 29 is the distance from the parking structure for those who drive in. There is a shuttle that seems to work well enough. No complaints from friends who drove/shuttled to 29. 25 is pretty much across the street from the structure and is very easy.
  23. It makes sense for 2 reasons: If you can still test positive from a previous infection, a new infection can't be identified or distinguished from other ailments. Hate to be quarantined because of an actual cold or something else. The likelihood of contracting covid within 60 days of a previous infection is small. If you just had it, there's little chance of getting it again onboard. Best to protect yourself from unnecessary quarantine.
  24. Simple as ever. Barely more than a flash of our passports to an agent, and off we went. Minimal lines. Sailed 2x from 29 and 1x from 25 this past year. The difference in time wasn't significant enough to even remember.
